Hello everyone,

Something's bothering me about the show - as far as I have read, Krishna, Arjuna and Draupadi should all be dark-skinned. Here in the show they are all played by very fair actors. I have nothing against any of the actors (please don't bash), it is just a worrying thought that in today's world we have somehow become obsessed with fair skin - I cannot believe the production house couldn't find dark-skinned actors for these key roles?

What do you think?

mahabharat is not the only show where Krishna is played by a fair-skinned actor. Many other shows, even the old mahabharat had a fair-skinned actor olaying the role of Krishna.
i have no idea about Arjun and Draupadi.

Ya i agree to some extent but acting matters more to me.If they can act well and potray the characters well with grace and respect i dont have any issue with their skin colour eitherways

I agree that at the end of the day, this is a show and acting matters more than skin colour.

I just felt that this was a missed opportunity to be more authentic. I doubt a show of this scale would've struggled to get actors who were dark-skinned who could play these characters equally well...

Just voicing my thoughts, thanks for the feedback.

@ love_kash Brchopra Krishna was dark skinned and so was Draupadi
It's a pathetic truth that the nation is suffering some complex in obsessing over fairer skin. I've noticed that Arjuna in this serial looks tanned, so maybe that was a conscious attempt from the producers to make him fit the image of Arjuna closer. They might want to do the samr with Draupadi if they value authenticity.

B.R. Chopra's Krishna and Draupadi were not dark!!

I agree, I hope if Mahabharat is remade one day they use dark actors to play these characters.

Arjuna was NOT dark skinned.
Krishna and Krishnaa - as their names suggest were dark complexioned, but Arjuna was fair.

The word " Arjuna" itself means "fair" , "clear"...

All the comics show him with a purple complexion- but that's wrong.
