i think people should lighten up, sure its a myto show, had each region has its own interpretation of incidents that may have happened. and its not about the right way or the wrong way. its just a story being told. not a religious or value education class. its Star Plus for crying out loud. kids know very little mythology these days. and dont even know about the gods that they worship. ask the kids who were the kauravas and the pandavas, or even the pandavs names. i doubt they would know.

ask them who is on the Indian cricket teem and pat comes the answer. along with the last match score etc.

you want your kids to know about the Mahabharat, tell them the stories yourself. this way they get to spend some quality time with you.😆😆

so chill out and let the people making TV serials make TV serials how ever they want. watching it or not watching it is your choice. Right????

While the gandharva marriage is too considered righteous, the one that took place between arjun-subhadra.

These were the 8 marriages:

Brahma
Daiva
Arsha
Prajapatya
Gandharva
Asura
Rakshasha
Pisacha

A Gandharva marriage was one where the couple would just exchange garlands w/ no witnesses, and thereafter declare to the world that they were married. Arjun-Uloopi married in that way.

An Asura marriage was one where the groom would offer a bride price for the bride to the bride & her father, and get the bride. That was pretty much what happened in Madri's case, where Bheeshma pretty much bought her from Shalya

A Rakshasha marriage is one where the woman is abducted and then forcibly married to the abductor. Examples were AA to Vichi, Laxmanaa to Samba, Duryodhan to princess of Kalinga.

A Pisacha marriage was raping a woman, and then frightening her into marriage.

The marriages weren't classified by caste.

So Bhima's marriage to Hidimbi was more of a Gandharva, rather than a Rakshasha marriage. Hidimbi did it not just b'cos she was one over, but b'cos she was defenseless after Hidimba's death.

Thanks Vrish.. this is why I thought they did not marry at all.. Both Kunti and Yudi don't suggest anything like marriage.. Bhim gave her a son by demand like the Devatas gave Kunti & Madri..

Regarding Bheem and Hidimba's marriage i have one question

How can a rakhshasi be defenseless?I mean being a rakhshasi she should be powerful enough to defend herself?

What kind of marrige was draupadi's with pandavas

@vash_aries: yeah.. looks like now for her Drupad is a greater enemy than Bheeshma 😆

@sabhayata: Pandava-Draupadi marriage being intra caste was the regular Brahma marriage.. with all rituals in the presence of elders..

It is sad to know that even Rakshashi's cant live without male company.. or may be Hidimbi told a lie for her love with Bhim 😉

recently i watched MB in tamil channel sun tv. there they showed hidimbi as shiv devotee, also has an accepteable background of royal bl00d in her amd ved vyas poped up and advised kunti to get them married.
