[DIV]i would like to say that Mahabharata should be renamed..

Serial Name: Fake Mahabharat or False Mahabharat

Genre: Comedy and Fight Drama
😃

He hasn't got Chakra yet at this stage.. he wasn't born with it, it was given by Agni later in Khandavaprastha forest along with the Gandiva & both his eagle bannered chariot and arjun's ape bannered chariot with white steeds.. For Arjun & Krishna to do Agni's task to get rid of Naga tribe dwelling the forest.

Ok, latest today - Yudisthir & Duryodhan directly quarreling over Duhsala's marriage to Jayadrath. And while @ it, they've made it a head on conflict b/w duty & love 😆 - the former being championed of course by Yudisthir, & the latter by Duryodhan.

It was funny to hear Vidura say that a swayamvara is only held for friendly kingdoms, given what Bheeshma had done years ago in Kashi. I'm surprised that Shakuni didn't pick up on that. But his insult of Bheeshma was funny to say the least - he doesn't have his own family, so how will he know how to make a a happy family? 😆 And there is the quarrel b/w Duryodhan & Yudisthir on whether Sindhu can be a marital ally of Hastinapur, w/ Vidura saying that Sindhu & Magadha can't. Well, after Jarasandha's death, his daughter did marry Sahadev, so where exactly did even that come from?

And why would Gandhari be crestfallen on hearing the news that Duhsala's wedding has been fixed w/ Jayadrath?

Incidentally, when the game of dice took place and the Pandavas were welcomed, Duhsala was the one who led the Kaurava women in welcoming them. So she was obviously still unmarried then, or else how could she have led them if she was the kulvadhu of Sindhu?

I comment more about the factual details of Duhsala here - Duhsala- an untold tale on pg 4

She may have been invited for a maayka visit . It is unlikely she was unmarried coz the dice game took place when they were all middle aged , men in their prime . Dushala must have been married before they returned from gurukul. Girls were married very young then.

One more thing - if this serial is supposed to bring MB to the country's yutes, then why do they depict Vidura, Duryodhan & others while explaining things always invoking extremely poetic & symbolic analogies? Who among the youth will follow that?

And when they had retired into the chambers, the women of Dhritarashtra's household with Dussala taking the lead visited them.

And king Dhritarashtra, O monarch, also bestowed Duhsala, in proper time and with proper rites, upon Jayadratha (the king of Sindhu).'

😲 very much shocking..

When I read the Vastraharan portion, I thought Dushala came to her mom's place like our girls of today do .. Though I agree she can not be the one to welcome but to be welcomed, getting her married after the dice game is for sure not proper time considering that all the 102 kids of Dhird were born within a month.. too much confused

But in those days, did girls participate in their maayka activities once they got married? In particular, were they allowed to represent their maaykas in anything? She was a Kaurava princess when unmarried, but became a Saindava queen when married, and once she became a Saindava queen, she couldn't have done what she's described as doing @ Hastinapur: that role would have fallen to Bhanumati or one of the other Kaurava kulvadhus.

I agree that it would be very strange for her not to have been married, given that girls at the time were married off in their teens. But I would think it even stranger for a married princess to represent her maayka instead of being @ her sasural.

Vrish-
While you are right in saying that Bhanumati ought to have taken the lead in welcoming Draupadi, that doesn't necessarily mean Dushala was still unmarried.

Even if we assume that Dushala was unmarried, she still would not have got the right to welcome Draupadi. The moment Duryodhana or any prince Kaurarava brought a wife home, Dushala would have been superseded- regardless of her own marital status.

Dushala would have been elder to Bhanumati and the other Kaurava bahus . May be she was the bossy nanand shown in typical saas bahu serials and must have elbowed Bhanumati out.

There is nothing technically wrong in Dushala welcoming Draupadi.

There is no reason why she shouldn't be there to welcome someone to her parental home. A daughter of a house doesn't cease to be a daughter just b'cos she gets married into some other family.
