Shalva did everything according to the norms - yeah, he may have been in love w/ Amba, but he did it the right way - attended her swayamvara and fought to defend her. Once he lost, as per kshatriya norms, there was no way he could accept her w/o looking like someone who accepted alms from another - unthinkable for either a king or a kshatriya.

Amba's father did what was customary - held a swayamvara. It was not a violation of Amba's wishes - Shalva too was an invited guest, and Amba would have chosen him from the visitors, and that would have been perfectly legit.

And Amba - blaming her for her misfortunes is like those douchebags who blame rape victims for being raped. Amba had no fault, contrary to the crop burning scenes shown Tuesday, and all she wanted to do was be at her own swayamvara, choose the king that she loved as her husband and marry him. Something that simple, and the pride of that egotistic dynasty called the Kurus had to come in the way. 😡

No, there was only one douchebag in all of this, and it was Gangaputra Bheeshma!!! Ganga should have been ashamed of him, instead of cursing Amba the river of taking courses that would make it impossible for people to bathe.

I disagree... if tht shalva dude is kshatriya thn so was bheeshma...he did nt kidnap anyone...he challenged openly... he was just used by tht selfish witch sathyawati...well I dnt blame amba... wrong timings.fr her! she shud hav opened her mouth earlier thts it...n hello as u said thr was no competition thn hw does tht shalva dude just cos he lost to bheeshma rejected her...bheeshma realised his mistake n asked forgiveness...
