Okay, I just watched the week's episodes.
Monday I already mentioned in the Pandava appreciation thread - it was pretty painful to watch. Tuesday, onwards, it started getting interesting.
So Satyavati has left forever, but Ambika & Ambalika are still shown to be in Hastinapur? In which case, how come Ambalika isn't w/ Kunti helping w/ things? And this time, since Kunti is a widow, shouldn't Ambalika be front & center in welcoming her?
I like the way Bheeshma intimidated Shakuni. Although realistically speaking, if the real Bheeshma had this sort of a mindset, he'd never have joined the Kaurava army, much less lead it. But after Bheeshma ready out the riot act, Shakuni is forced to be even more curbed in his movements, and keep an eye out for him.
Kunti's return to Hastinapur - it was funny how she & Karna stare @ each other. But aside from what others have noted about how contrived it is, one thing that the PH didn't notice - how can Kunti look @ Karna & not recognize him? When she saw him in the tournament, the way she recognized him was his kavach & kundalas. She would have seen the same here, recognized that, and here, it would have been a perfect opportunity to claim him, had it happened that way in the real story. Karna being thrown @ her feet was really filmy - how come no one else landed there? - and why would she put her hand on his head? Oh, and Yudisthira has to be the one to spoil it & break up this Ma-Beta reunion?
Bhima's act as they were proceeding towards the palace was really funny - him bowing to the sentry & finally falling @ his feet, scaring him off 🤣 and making Sahadev, Nakul & Arjun crack up w/ laughter. Then him chatting up Durbhiksh (where do they get these names - why make Bhima pals w/ someone whose name starts w/ 'Dur'?)
The pranam face off b/w the Pandavas & Kauravas was really funny. Duryodhan claiming that he was Yuvraj, Arjun & Bhima asking him when was he crowned, and Durbhiksh denying that he was. 😆 Then Bheeshma coming out and forcing him to touch Yudhisthir's feet, & Bhima's hand only going as far as his thighs 🤣 Even funnier - all the other Kauravas were then forced to bow to Bhima and did it the same way as Duryodhan did to Yudhisthir, who just smugly enjoyed it all 🤣 Finally, Arjun, Nakul & Sahadev just folded their hands for all the Kauravas, who were too busy fleeing to accept their greetings 🤣 Oh, and Shakuni & Bheeshma both giving Duryodhan such orders 😆
The lunchroom drama - it was smart of Yudhisthir to pick up the obvious - that the 'food minister' was Duryodhan. But at the table, it was a pity that both Bheeshma & Vidura had to leave, leaving the Pandavas starving. Vidura actually didn't do that smartly at all - he should have left a block of 5 seats for the Pandavas to set next to each other, have Yudhisthir at the point where the Pandavas end and Kauravas start, and from that point, start the Kauravas. So that at least the Pandavas would have been fed, and the Kauravas wouldn't have had a chance to starve them.
It was funny - that night, Yudhisthir does what he can to censor his brothers from telling Kunti what really happened, and that being followed by Duhshala telling Kunti the next day about how Duryodhan regarded the Pandavas as his enemies 🤣 One thing - I don't see why Duhshala would have been surprised @ having 105 brothers. Had she started w/ 5 brothers and ended up w/ 105, there would have been a reason for the surprise, but since she started w/ 100 and ended up w/ 105, what difference did it make?
So Bhima & Nakul are looking for the kitchen, and Bhima scolds Nakul for being useless 😆 Shouldn't he have used Sahadev - wasn't Sahadev the one who'd know how to find places? Anyway, they go to the mango grove and find the Kauravas like monkeys on the trees. Incidentally, the way the Kauravas laughed @ them was totally like apes 😆
One thing - contrary to what the write-ups have been saying, the Kaurava who remarked that the Pandavas must have learnt begging from their sanyasi father was not Dushashan - it was a different Kaurava. Given how mahaan Yudhisthir always is, I was rather surprised that he took this as an insult and let Bhima do what he wanted: I would have expected a bhashan on how jeshth pita is greater than pita blah blah blah, but I was pleasantly surprised that even Yudi is shown to have his limits.
Bhima making all the Kauravas fall & flee was the highlight, and the cool thing was that Nakul & Sahadev were happy again 😆 although unfortunately, Arjun was still sulking.
On a more serious note, had Yudhisthir allowed his brothers to make a hue & cry about how they were being treated - even in the real story - the Kauravas might have been curbed early on.
