I have a question, b4 I go through all these 15 pages:

Is this thread only to appreciate BR Chopra's serial?

I myself watched it when it first aired, and even then, thought it mediocre. So I wanted to know. My views on that serial were & are heavily negative. If this thread is an AT for that serial, I won't comment here. But if it is about an open discussion on that, I'm happy to join. In the MM forum too, this serial is discussed, but there, it's mostly an exclusively for accolades thread.

Perhaps we need to have a separate thread for criticising or comparing the two shows 😆

Dear Vrish... just giving you my point of view - the topic of this thread is 'All discussions about old Mahabharat' ...so maybe this is not an AT..if it would had been an AT , it would have been mentioned clearly in the title.. I feel you can be free to give your POV here..but still maybe you could PM the thread maker just to confirm before posting 😊..

Just that many people who post on this thread are fans of the old TV show..including me..for various reasons.. the reasons I like the old MB show is for its music, actors, dialogues and story telling flow..especially the 'main samay hoon' part..😊 I still get entertained by the show even after repeatedly watching it just because the above reasons..

I watched the re runs of the old Mahabharat. In some way it is so better than the current. The costume, looks, jewelry, animation, direction, are so good in the current something the old one lacked due to the technology at thet time, but some of the characters are shown out of proportions here. For example, the depiction of Dhritarashtrya's character is blown too much... same goes for Amba, the way she is depicted makes one think she is a vengeful evil person, and her pain was too little, also certain omission of important facts or twisting of facts is also present. The old Mahabharat did complete justice to every character, be it Shakuni, Dhrit, or even Duryodhan... While current one has a lot of potential, because of the technology, the show focuses more on garnering TRP than being fair to the character portrayal.

i am really liking the new Mahabharat.. and I think it is probably the only version so far that I have liked, that has come close to the old one.
well the old MB was totally awesome. So no comparisons there...

But to take that in consideration, especially friday's episode where bheeshm's vulnerability was shown, I remembered Mukesh khanna.

One thing I did not like in the old MB was that tehy talked too much.
Vidur, dhridrastr, bheeshm ...
specially vidur and bheesm scenes. Some of them were overly redundant.

I usually forward those scenes and go to the part where kaurav or pandav are involved.
But I guess that was a necessary part to understand the psyche of those men during that situation.

ANywayz I really hope vidur is not shown sooo weak in this MB. And this bheeshm is not shown as vivash as the other one was.

Hello suchi..good to see you here..

I love the old Mahabharata I agree they have very long dialogues but that was the essence of that show.

the dialogues, songs, screenplay was so well written...it was a piece of pure art..

the dialogues were very meaningful especially teh ones by vidur , samay and bheeshm

Main Samay hoon! Mera na toh kisi ke saath koi rishta hai, na kisi ke saath koi naata hai. Main moh-maya se mukt hoon.
