Team Mahabharat celebrates completion of 100 episodes by throwing a surprise party for makers

Time surely flies by quite swiftly and it did so for Star Plus' much talked about show Mahabharat (Swastik Productions) that was launched on TV with much fanfare last year. The show recently completed 100 episodes successfully.

And after the star studded birthday celebration of producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary's, the team recently got together to celebrate this achievement.

As a source close to the teams lets in, "The team wanted to give a surprise to the brothers Siddharth and Rahul (Kumar Tewary) and thus they kept the party a secret for them."

The team decided to fake a birthday celebration of a creative head as part of the plan and invited the duo for the party. They were amazingly surprised when the cake was brought. The team had got a cake designed as theMahabharat title logo and as they presented it to the makers they could not control their emotions.

Admiring the warmth and support of their team the stunned producers thanked everyone and partied all night with the happy team. The channel officials were also invited for the bash and it was one of those parties that had everyone dancing and making merry till the wee hours of the morning.

We congratulate the whole team for this achievement.

Draupadi Agree To Marry Five Pandavs, Drupad To Declare The Marriage Null In Mahabharat

In Star Plus' Mahabharat Next Week,Kunti unknowingly divides Draupadi into all of her five sons. Everyone shocked. Draupadi walks off. As a solution to the problem, the Pandav brothers decide that they will accept solitude as a way of life and Arjun will marry Draupadi. Arjun not being able to accept such a huge sacrifice from his brother, in turn asks Draupadi to marry his eldest brother Yudhistir and become the queen of Hastinapur. Draupadi shocked at the solution Arjun has come up with.Draupadi notices the five stones of Dharma which Krishna gifts her while leaving Panchaal & with much difficulty accepts Kunti's mistake as her destiny & tells them that she is ready to marry all five Pandavs. Everyone shocked at her decision, when Drupad who had just arrived says this is impossible & declares the marriage null, he takes Draupadi back with him to Panchaal.

Kunti realizes she has destroyed the girl's life forever and breaks down into tears, when Ved vyas comes to them and tells them that they need to sort out the whole situation with a cool & stable mind.Draupadi comes back to Panchaal palace and as she looks at the wedding mandap, all recent memories come back in flashes to haunt her. Ved vyas tells the Pandav brothers to make sacrifices on their part too as Draupadi has herself taken a big decision, also the people of Hastinapur & on a large the whole Aryavarta need a rule of Righteousness (Dharm). Yudhishtir decides that they will come out of their hiding and all of them will marry Draupadi. Pandavs arrive at Panchaal where Drupad is all set to attack them, Krishna stops him and reveals they are actually the mighty Pandavs dressed in brahmin's clothes. Drupad shocked.Krishna makes Drupad realize that whatever is happening with Draupadi, is happening because of Drupad's own mistake. He reminds Drupad of the harsh destiny he himself asked for his daughter from the gods. Drupad breaks down on this. Krishna promises Draupadi that whenever in life she needs her sakha, he will come to her rescue.While on their way back to Hastinapur Shakuni & Duryodhan plan not to tell about Pandavs to anyone in the family and get Duryodhan's Rajya abhishek done before Yudhishtir returns.

Ved vyas sets rule for Draupadi & Pandav's marriage, Draupadi & Pandavs together take an oath that Draupadi will stay married for one year to each brother starting from Yudhishtir and no other brother will be allowed to enter her room other than her current husband. In a montage we see the unusual wedding takes place.As the five brothers put the crown (Churamani) on Draupadi, Vidur enters the scene and is shocked to see this. Later after Krishna makes Vidur understand the unsual situation under which the Pandavs had to take that decision. In Hastinapur Duryodhan creates a scene by doing Ashwamedha yagya, where he is about to take a horse's life (which is a huge crime), when Dhritarashtra tries to stop him, Duryodhan insults his own father that he is too weak to be a king. Duryodhan tells Dhritarashtra to take up solitude & make him the King of Hastinapur. Dhritarashtra shocked and hurt.

Small screen's biggest Swayamvar - Draupadi chooses Arjun

The small screen has witnessed the biggest Swayamvar of all times as Draupadi chose the man of her life - the warrior prince, Arjun, in Mahabharat. Most of us are aware that Draupadi married five brothers - the Pandavas but what led her to this unconventional marriage is lesser known. Star Plus' Mahabharat, that airs Monday to Saturday at 8.30pm on Star Plus, is now focussing on this part.

Mahabharat reaches a major turn when Arjun brings Draupadi home and he tells his mother Kunti that he has won something extremely special and without a clue of what the victory prize is, Kunti asks for it to be shared equally with all the five brothers. This comes as a shock to Draupadi and the Pandavas. Amidst a lot of confusion and chaos regarding Kunti's statement, Draupadi finally, with a heavy heart, decides to marry all the five brothers reminiscing the teachings of her sakha -Krishna.

Mihir Bhuta, the writer of the show says, "This is the moment that brings to light a fact that a woman's sanctity is put to stake so that a command can get fulfilled, a throne can get conferred to the rightful heir and a kingdom can flourish. The whole concept of being married to five brothers and sharing oneself in turns is a very disturbing thought but the epic teaches you the value of a woman and the self-courage they possess."

Pooja Sharma who plays Draupadi adds, "I do not know what Draupadi would have gone through at that point but as I play her character I must say that she was an epitome of sacrifice. She is an idol when it comes to holding herself respect high and sacrificing love for Kunti's decision. Getting shared amongst five brothers was surely a very daunting task however it had to be done with grace and deference as Draupadi is known to be a very strong headed, responsible and a well-balanced woman."

Draupadi's extravagant wedding ups channel ratings

The clash between mythological show Mahabharat and Ekta Kapoor's period drama Jodha Akbar continues on the small screen. The two classic tales have been among the biggest crowd- pullers on TV and are now pitted against each other in terms of audience viewership.

Draupadi's colourful and extravagant wedding in Mahabaharat has led to a leap in its viewership. The grand Draupadi- Pandava wedding, however, still could not beat the popularity of Jodha Akbar . Draupadi's wedding, which is the current track on Siddharth Tiwary's Mahabharat , has managed to grab the No. 1 position in the 8.30 pm slot garnering a record 7.9 TVM ( total viewership in millions).

With 728 gross TVM, the channel's market share is now 27 per cent. Zee TV's Jodha Akbar , however, still rules in the epic drama space as it fetches an average of 13.2 TVM. " We haven't really compared the ratings of Mahabharat and Jodha Akbar because the two shows air in different timeslots and both have different content. Our biggest challenge was to be compared with the Mahabharat created by B. R. Chopra in the ' 80s but the current rating is proof that the new version has been received well by the audience," says Gaurav Banerjee, General Manager, Star Plus.

It is only after a long time, Colors channel had no show among the top 10 fictional shows.
