TAM Ratings: Week 48

TAM ratings of Week 48 are here and not much has changed this week.

Star Plus is the number one channel with 548331 GVTs while Colors and Zee TV are perched on the second and third place with 478534 and 448553 GVTs respectively.

Life OK, SAB TV and Sony take the fourth, fifth and sixth place with 334327, 269269 and 238987 GVTs respectively. Sahara One manages to gain 33691 GVTs.

Pandavas To Win War Against Drupad In Mahabharat

In Star Plus Mahabharat Next Week,Drupad orders Shikhandini to not kill any of Kuru princes in order to call Bheeshm. Dronacharya notices the stones in Arjun's hand and asks him about them. Duryodhana blames Dronacharya being biased towards Yudhisthir & objects at Yudhisthir's & Bheem's participation in the war in order to be the senapati. Duryodhan gets over confident & orders to attack. The Kauravas over power Drupad's army cutting through them with their swords...Shikhandini instructs her soldiers to form a chakravyuh & gets successful in trapping the Kauravas. Shikhandini is about to hit Dushasan but Duryodhan blocks her weapon with his gadaa which forces Shikhandini on the back foot revealing to Duryodhan that she is woman...Fighting bravely Duryodhan reaches Drupad as he is about to capture him & suddenly gets distracted by 4 more Drupad. Duryodhan gets confused and as a result gets captured by Drupad.Drupad captures Duryodhan and declares himself victorious, but then gets shocked to learn that there are only 100 kuru kumars instead of 105. Just then Pandavas enter. Yudhisthir asks Arjun to lead them into the chakravyuh. Arjun leading the way fights the army and reaches the center of the chakravyuh. Yudhisthir ask his brothers to help Duryodhan. Arjun breaks through the chakravyuh and reaches Drupad. Arjun with the help of Krishna's puzzle recognizes the original Drupad and captures him. The war comes to an end & Pandavas win.Dronacharya reaches the Panchal palace & remembers how he was insulted by Drupad. He meets Drupad & makes him feel guilty for what he had done in past. Dronacharya then decides that Drupad would do Ashwathama's Rajyabhishek & ask Arjun to untie Drupad. Drupad does the Rajyabhishek of Ashwathama. Dronacharya expresses his happiness towards Pandavas & asks them to leave for Hastinapur. He accepts Drupad back as his friend & gives away half the kingdom to him keeping the other half for Ashwathama. After the victory Pandavas are set on their way back to Hastinapur but Kauravas stops their way.On the way back to Hastinapur, Duryodhan stops the Pandavas & challenges to fight again. But Yudhisthir vows that he will accept whatever decision is taken by Dhritrashtra. Dhritrashtra is upset because Duryodhan was unable to prove himself, Gandhari says that Yudhisthir deserves to be the yuvraj & asks to announce for a celebration. Drupad is upset on his defeat & expresses his desire of having a son who can take revenge on his behalf. An over confident Duryodhan comes to Dhritrashtra & asks him to announce his name as Yuvraj or else he will cross all limits. Pandavas reaches Hastinapur & seek blessing from Dhritarashtra who seems to be unhappy.Duryodhan meets Karn with a purpose of making him sacrifice his Dharm so that he agrees to fight against the Pandavas. Dhritrashtra comes to Yudhisthir & requests him to back out & let Duryodhan be the king to bring the situation under control, but Arjun makes him change his decision by making him realize his responsibilities towards Hastinapur. Dhritrashtra realizes his selfishness & decides that Yudhisthir would be the Yuvraj. Next day Yudhisthir & the rest of the Pandavas get ready for Rajyabhishek. Yudhisthir's coronation is about to begin but suddenly is interrupted by Duryodhan & his fully armed brothers.

Star Plus's Mahabharat is already keeping the audiences glued with its engaging narration. And in tonight's episode a new character will be introduced. Actress
Shikha Singh, last seen in 26/11 and Sasural Simar Ka will be entering Mahabharat as Shikhandini.

On being asked about the role she says, " It's for the first time that I am doing such a genre. My character is of a warrior princess and it's a powerful and rebellious character. The character story is about a princess, who is born when her father wanted a son, so she is living and fighting the angst."

Talking about the look, she observed, " My character is dressed up like a princess obviously, but she is more over conceptualized like Kareena Kapoor from the movie Asoka".

Well with Shikha joining in, Mahabharat's cast list gets longer.

Rohit Bharadwaj got his first award as an actor

Actor Rohit Bharadwaj who was last seen in Swastik Productions Navya is flying high nowadays. He got his first ever award as a best actor for a short Punjabi film titled 'Waapasi'. The film is directed by Deepak Sharma who is also directing 'Bani' on Colors.

When asked Rohit says,"The film and I both got awards in Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival. Waapasi is the story about a person Harry who returns home from overseas and finds his own house as a stranger's place. The family members are more eager to send me back again as my money is more important for my family now. The film also traveled to Punjabi International Film Festival in Toronto last month. I am proud to be a part of this short film as the story is very touching and true in many parts of India."

On being asked about his career plans he says, "I am surely looking at doing films. I want to do films where the role is significant."

Kuru princes to war against King Draupad in Star Plus' Mahabharat

Mahabharat's plot (Swastik Productions) on Star Plus will soon be heating up with the inclusion of some war sequences in the coming episodes. As seen, the Kauravas and the Pandavas have all proven their mettle with the help of their training by the supreme Dronacharya (Nissar Khan).

As seen in the previous episode, Dronacharya had asked the Kuru princes to lead a war against King Draupad (Sudesh Berry) to avenge his insult as a guru dakshina. Arjun (Shaheer Sheikh) will be geared up to bring his guru's respect back and Duryodhan (Arpit Ranka) seeing his competitor's gusto will also prepare to participate in the war.

A source informs, "As the princes will go for attack, Duryodhan will get over confident and attack Draupad. Fighting bravely he will attack Draupad but get distracted by his magical powers and the whole bunch of Kauravas will fall into a chakravyuh."

This is when Arjun will come to help them out and fighting valiantly he will help them win the war and defeat Draupad. Dronacharya will be proud of his disciple and put Draupad in guilt of insulting his teachings.

Dronacharya will also make a smart move and ask him to coronate his son as the reigning prince of Draupad's kingdom. Reluctantly he will oblige and then Dronacharya will part the kingdom into two and give the other half back as a gift for their new found peaceful relation.

The insulted Kauravas will then head back to Hastinapur along with the Pandavas where the announcement of the Yuvraj is to be made.

So who will be the next Yuvraj? Will Duryodhan accept this humiliation?

We tried calling Sudesh and Shaheer but they remained unavailable for comment.

Double celebrations for Saurab aka Lord Krishna

Saurab Raaj Jain who is playing Lord Krishna in Siddarth Kumar Tewary's Mahabharat turns a year older today.

On being asked what are his birthday plans he said, " I have recently returned from a ten days vacation to Bali. It was my birthday celebration as well as my wedding anniversary celebration. My wedding anniversary falls on the 28th of November and my birthday on 1st December so It's like double celebration".

Sources say Producer Siddarth Kumar Tewary's office received gifts for you. He says, " I have received God idols, chocolates, beautiful little tokens of appreciation, I am so obliged and happy at receiving presents. I was very happy and surprised pleasantly. In the age of social networking websites and mobiles where birthday wishes are reduced to sending messages my fans cared to find the production house address and send gifts. I feel delighted"

My screen sons are older than me in real life: Shafaq Naaz

Shafaq Naaz in a chat with TOI talks about her struggle, playing mom in a mythological show and more

Meerut's Shafaq Naaz was yet another small town girl with showbiz dreams until she landed her first soap Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai, followed by a second lead role in Shubh Vivah, and an episodic in Teri Meri Love Stories. Shafaq who's playing Kunti in Mahabharat was in Ahmedabadon a whirlwind tour. Excerpts from a quick chat :

How difficult was it for you to step into television industry as neither you and your sister (Falaq Naaz who's doing Sasural Simar Ka) had no connections in the television industry?
It was very difficult for us to make as television actresses. Falaq and I used to give six-seven auditions a day, many times we had to skip lunch either because we were too caught up commuting or sometimes due to financial crunch. Things started looking better after we bagged roles in TV soaps. I never really wanted to become an actor, when I saw my sister go for screen tests, I thought My bigger challenge came when I landed my first show Bidaai and had to face the camera. I didn't know how to go about it but, my co-actor and producer made me feel comfortable and since then there's no looking back.

What made you take up a mythological soap?
I've never followed Mahabharat when it was aired earlier. To be honest, I never thought of doing a mythological show, but when I auditioned for the role of Kunti, I loved the entire experience of wearing elaborate costumes and now I'm enjoying playing this role. The best thing is, it doesn't feel like I'm doing a daily soap, rather it feels like we are shooting for a movie, our sets are so lavish. We had various acting workshops for this show which is unusual with daily soaps.

Were you comfortable playing mom to actors who are chronologically the same age as you?
I have never felt any awkwardness at all. I'm just enacting my role and all the six guys who play my sons are elder to me. But I'm comfortable playing their mother even if I am 20! In fact, Shaheer (Sheikh) who plays Arjun has a real wacky sense of humour. Everytime we meet, he greets me with a 'Pranam Maate'. (laughs)

So what do you aspire next?
Right now everything's working out fine. It feels good to see that people are recognising me. I'm looking forward to doing a romantic role next. I hope the dream comes true.
