Final Chapter
Ruhi started crying, interrupting their conversation.
'Aww she must be hungry!' Madhu took her in her arms. 'Let's go & eat something baby! I have something delicious for you!' Madhu left the room with Ruhi. RK missed his chance. Later when Madhu inquired about it he just ignored it saying that it is not necessary to talk. He was doubtful how would Madhu react to it.
Days passed & both of them started loving to be around them every time. They missed each other while they were away. Specially when Madhu was at work, RK missed her presence a lot. Madhu too missed him & often kept thinking about him while she was at work. Both of them understood that they are madly in love with each other, but neither of them had courage to express their feelings in front of each other.
Now Ruhi was one & a half months old & was a mischievous little girl. One day they decided to go shopping with Ruhi. Ruhi was excited to go. They went to a large shopping mall in the city. They were roaming around the shops.
They went inside a baby care store to buy some clothes for little Ruhi. They kept selecting various kind of outfits for her.
'Madhu! this pink frock looks good on Ruhi!'
'No way! it is too pinkish.'
'What the hell? this looks perfect on her!' RK argued.
'Ruhi has plenty of pink frocks RK! See this purple one. It looks better on her.'
'That color is too dark for a kid!'
'No it is not! this purple frock is beautiful. It perfectly suites Ruhi. Not like the one you chose, it looks like a candy floss.'
'Madhu!' The silly arguments continued. The shop keeper & a few of those customers were smiling at them. A crazy couple arguing on the clothes of their little daughter! Finally they had to conclude it. That resulted them buying both of the outfits.
An idea popped up in RK's mind, to buy something for Madhu. He wanted to surprise her. But he didn't have a clue on what to buy. He sought help from Madhu.
'Madhu, could you please help me to buy a gift?'
'A gift?'
'Yeah. Actually one of my colleague's birthday is coming up. I don't have an idea what to buy for a girl. Can you please help me?' He lied. He wanted to buy a gift for Madhu.
'Umm.. for a girl?' Madhu inquired. RK noticed that the smile she had on her face suddenly faded. Without much wasting time, they went towards the ladies' clothing section.
Ruhi was looking around, mesmerized by the vibrant colours in the store. She was in RK's arms.
'What kind of a gift are you planning to give?'
'Umm.. I thought of giving her a dress.'
'A dress?' Madhu seemed doubtful.
'Yeah. She is quite fashionable. Can you select a good outfit for her?'
'Oh okay. Let me see.' Madhu went through them & finally pulled out a long designer dress. It was a wine red coloured one which had a lace sleeves.
'How about this?'
'Wow Madhu! it is awesome!'
'Will she like this?' Madhu asked in a dull tone. She really wanted to buy that dress for herself, but she didn't have enough money to purchase. RK noticed her slightest mood changes.
'Of course she will! I'm sure she is gonna love it!' RK spoke delightedly.
'But isn't this too expensive?' Madhu questioned again. A slight jealousy was blooming inside her. She never thought that RK would purchase something expensive for his friend. That too, for a girl.
'I've got money Madhu! I can afford for her. Her friendship is priceless for me!' RK spoke. Madhu couldn't digest his talks. She was burning with jealousy. That is all because she was possessive about him.
Finally he purchased that dress for Madhu. Madhu was unaware about it. She was upset about that. They almost had some many shopping bags with them. It was too heavy to carry. RK suggested that he would go to the car & put them inside so they can keep their hands free.
Madhu went to the toy store with little Ruhi. Ruhi was excited to see to toys & she ran around the store with joy. Madhu was looking for cute fluffy toys for her. For a minute, Madhu's attention on Ruhi was diverted. Finally she selected a cute teddy bear for her.
'Baby! do you love this?' Madhu turned back. But Ruhi was nowhere to found.
'Ruhi? Ruhi? baby where are you?' She looked around but Ruhi wasn't there.
'Excuse me, did you see my daughter? She was here a few minutes back.' She inquired the shop keeper.
'Sorry ma'am I didn't see her.'
'Ruhi! where are you?' Madhu started searching her. She was panicked.
In the very next second, the fire alarm of the store started beeping. It was a chaotic situation inside the mall. A fire has occurred & it kept spreading widely. People were running here and there with utter confusion. Everybody wanted to get out of the mall. That resulted a big rush at the exit & people kept pushing & crushing each other in order to get out soon.
Madhu was hell worried. She kept searching Ruhi in the middle of the flames. Meanwhile RK came back from the car park. He heard a lots of noises & he noticed that people where running here & there screaming. He was worried as he knew that Madhu & Ruhi were inside the mall. He rushed to the entrance.
He witnessed that pandemonium & got panicked. A lot of people were trying to get out of the premises. RK was trying to get inside as he wanted to find Madhu & Ruhi.
'What the hell are you trying to do sir?' 'A fire has caught in the building!' 'You cannot go inside!' The security guards warned him.
'Just let me go! my wife & daughter are there!' RK raised his voice.
'But sir! we cannot let you go!' 'Please try to understand!'
'Urgh! just let me go!' RK roared & he almost pushed the security guards away. He went inside the mall which was almost burnt a half.
'Madhu?' 'Ruhi? ' Where are you?' RK called out their names loud. The escalator wasn't working & he rushed to the 3rd floor of the floor besides the flames. Madhu too kept calling RK & Ruhi's names in fear. Finally after a few minutes RK spotted her.
'Madhu!' He screamed. RK saw him & came running towards him. She hugged him tightly. 'RK!' She was trembling with fear. RK hugged her back tightly.
'Madhu don't worry! I'm right here.' He cupped her face. She was sweating & shivering.
'RK... Ruhi!' Geet couldn't speak as she was feared to death.
'Madhu? Where is Ruhi?' RK was worried.
'RK... Ruhi.. Ruhi was with me in the toy shop. I was looking for a teddy bear for her & she was not there when I turned back.' Madhu almost cried with fear.
'OMG Madhu! you should have hold her tightly. You know how mischievous she is & keeps running everywhere.!' RK was tensed.
The flames were covering up where they were standing. 'RK please find my Ruhi!' Madhu hugged him again. At the same time firefighters broke inside the mall to rescue the people trapped inside. They were trying their best to extinguish the fire.
RK asked the firefighters to take Madhu out along with the other rescued people while he will search for little Ruhi.
'RK! no! please I can't let you go alone!' Madhu was worried.
'Madhu! calm down!'
'No RK! what if something happens to you? the fire has spread out a lot' Madhu was trembling with fear. RK was trying to calm her down.
'Madhu! trust me! nothing will happen to me.' He cupped her face. She was running out of tears. For the first time she felt how important RK is, in her life. She truly loved him.
'RK!' She held his hand tightly not letting him to go. RK clearly noticed the fear in her eyes. He held her hands tightly.
'Madhu! please don't worry. I will be back safely with our daughter!' RK assured. He placed a soft kiss on her palm. For the first time he kissed her. Madhu was staring at him with teary eyes.
'Ma'am hurry up!' The firefighters accompanied Madhu to a safer place. She had to let him go. RK was searching little Ruhi everywhere. He called out her name numerous times but didn't even hear a cry in response.
Finally he spotted someone was lying under a toy rack. He saw a tiny shoe & noticed that it was Ruhi's. He rushed in to her. He found little Ruhi lying on the floor.
'Ruhi! baby!' He hugged her. But she didn't respond. She was in an unconscious state. Thankfully there weren't any burnt marks. RK took her in his arms & rushed down stairs to Madhu.
Madhu had happy tears in her eyes when she saw RK & Ruhi. She ran towards them & hugged both of them. RK wrapped her from his protective arms.
'Ruhi?' 'Baby open your eyes! Mommy & daddy are here with you' Madhu caressed her face. She got worried when Ruhi didn't respond. 'Ruhi, please open your eyes darling!' Madhu cried.
'Madhu! let's take her to the hospital.' RK suggested. They rushed to the hospital. They were seated outside while the doctors were checking Ruhi. Madhu rested her head on RK's chest, crying out for Ruhi. RK assured that nothing is gonna happen for their daughter.
The doctor informed that nothing has happened to Ruhi. She has just lost her consciousness due to heat & fear. She assured that Ruhi will be fine soon & asked them not to worry. They rushed inside the room. Little Ruhi was lying on the bed.
Madhu started crying seeing her state. She sat beside her & placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Madhu kept caressing her tiny fingers. RK came & put his hand around Madhu's shoulder and tried to console her.
'Madhu! everything is going to be okay! Just don't worry!'
'RK!' She was staring at him with teary eyes. 'RK, for a moment I feared that god will snatch you & Ruhi from my life' 'I can't think of a life without you & Ruhi!' She cried hugging him tightly. He hugged her back. He realized that she too loves him a lot. At long last he decided to express his feelings for her.
'You know what Madhu? I too cannot live without you & our daughter.' He caressed her face. 'Destiny was cruel for Ruhi. But not again. She will be with us, with her new parents.'
'Madhu, we are bound by Ruhi's love. Both of can never think of a life without our daughter, Ruhi.'
'Yes RK! Ruhi is my life. And you too.' She held his hand tightly. Both of them were staring at each other. Both of them understood the love they have for each other in their hearts. It was time to accept the reality.
'Madhu! I want to strengthen our bond. I know we came to an agreement that we will remain as friends. But Madhu, I can no longer do that. I failed.'
Madhu looked at him. She saw the passion in his eyes. RK cupped her face.
'I love you Madhu!' Finally he confessed his love for her.
Madhu kept numb. She had a doubt, but never thought that RK would ask out from her this soon. She too didn't have any reason to decline. She loved him whole heartedly.
'RK!' She held his hand tightly. 'I have always felt that special feeling for you. You are more than just a friend. You know what? when I was away from you with work, I always missed you. I couldn't stay not missing you for a single second. I felt that I have started loving you.'
Those words brought a smile in RK's face. Finally both of them have poured out their inner feelings which were kept inside them for such a long time.
'I love you too, RK' Madhu too confessed her love for him. Both of them shared an intense eye lock. RK pulled her close. Madhu buried her head on his chest, hugging him tightly. Both of them got emotional. RK kissed her forehead.
'Dada' Suddenly a cute little voice broke the silence. It was none other than their cute angel Ruhi. RK was surprised to hear call him daddy.
'Ruhi! my princess!' 'Are you okay?' Madhu leaned down her & showered her with kisses. RK was still in state of a shock that Ruhi called her daddy.
'Madhu? did I really hear that she called me daddy?'
'Yes RK! she just spoke!' Madhu wiped her happy tears. She took Ruhi on her lap. RK was in happy tears. He felt proud.
'Love you baby!' He kissed her tiny fingers.
Days passed peacefully after their love confession. Ruhi was getting better. She calls momma for Madhu & daddy for RK. Madhu's birthday was coming up & he wanted to plan something special for her.
Finally it was the day before her birthday. Madhu was busy with some of her paper work. She was at the study room after putting Ruhi to sleep. It was few hours more to struck 12. RK made sure that she won't come down stairs. He started planning his surprise for her.
When just 5 minutes left to the clock struck 12 midnight, he entered Madhu's room. Poor Madhu was drowned in her office work. She was almost sleeping, resting her table on the desk. He slowly patted her back.
'Madhu?' RK spoke softy.
'Hmm?' Madhu got up rubbing up her eyes.
'Madhu! can you get up for a while & come with me?'
'Where?' 'What's the time now?' Madhu looked at the clock, it was almost 12 mid night. She was worried that she couldn't finish up her work as she fell asleep.
'RK! I have to finish this off!'
'Forget it! please come with me.' RK blindfolded her with his palms.
'RK?' 'What are you doing?'
'Shh.. it's a secret!' RK accompanied her to the living room.
'Okay now it's your turn!' RK let her open her eyes. She blinked twice to adjust her vision to the light. The next sight made her made her numb out of surprise. The whole living room was decorated with balloons & her photographs.
'Happy birthday Madhu!' RK wished her with a bright smile.
'RK? is this all for me?' Madhu was lacking words to express her happiness. 'Thank you so much' She hugged him tightly.
'Come on Madhu! let's cut the cake.' RK accompanied her. Madhu was all excited. It was her favourite type of cake, Chocolate fudge. It was worded as 'Happy birthday Madhu'. RK lit the candles.
'Madhu! make a wish.' RK winked. Madhu closed her eyes and thanked god for giving so much happiness in her life. Specially RK & Ruhi in her life. She silently prayed that this happiness would last forever.
Madhu signaled RK to join to cut the cake. Both of them smiled at each other. RK sang 'Happy birthday' & they cut the cake & fed each other.
'The surprises are not yet over!' RK winked. He placed a gift box on her hands. Madhu was surprised.
'Is this for me?'
'For whom else?' 'Just open it.'
Madhu unwrapped it in excitement. It was that red dress she selected for him at the mall.
'RK?'
'Surprised eh?'
'Wait what? this is the one you purchased for your friend.'
'So? she is none other than you Madhu!' He winked.
'RK???' 'You told me she was your colleague!'
'Yes I did! But that's true right? aren't we like colleagues?Working together! Looking after our little angel' RK chuckled.
Then both of them shared a smile. RK switched on the music player. He grabbed her tightly from her waist. She too put her hands around his neck. It started playing the song ' A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri.
That song was so close to both of them. Specially for Madhu. It took her back to the lanes of memories.

She has loved RK for a while, but never told him. Her heart beats fast when she's around him, she has so much colours or the joys of living and being alive, that she wants to share with him, so many promises that she wants to make, but she's too afraid of to fall perhaps that he doesn't return her love, that she can't tell him. But he's standing all alone and she sees her opportunity. All her doubt goes away she must tell him.
One step closer...

This verse is apt for Madhu's confession that she loves him. She has died every day waiting for him. It's painful to always see him and want to tell him how she feels, but not be able to. She keeps waiting for him to make the first move, but he won't. She tells him not to be afraid. She doesn't want to scare him away, but she has loved him for a thousand years & it feels that way to her, and will continue to love him for a thousand more.
RK & Madhu recalled their memories & shared an intense eye lock while the song was playing.
All along I believed I would find you

Back before she confessed, while she is still going towards him. Time stands still for a moment, a beautiful moment as she reaches him. She's going to be brave and tell him how she feels, she won't let fear or anything else take this away from her. Every breath, every hour she has spent waiting for him has come to this one moment. She takes one more step forward & confesses her love.
At this point soon before she confesses he tells her that he loves her too, and she just wells up with emotion. All along she knew that she would find him, or that he would finally know how she felt. Time brought 'heart' to her, meaning that her feelings grew and developed until she was ready to tell him. She repeats that she has loved him for a long time and will continue to love him.
Both of them got emotional at the end of the song. They shared a tight hug. Both of them were in tears. They were a symbol of their happiness.
'I love you Madhu!'
'I love you too, RK.'
Both of them wiped each other's tears slowly. RK tilted his head, coming more closer to her. Their lips met each other in a swift. RK held her more tightly. She was lost in his kiss. Both of them were enjoying this luscious & passionate encounter.
He untied her hair & started caressing it. His tongue touched hers in a rhythm. Both of their sensory glands were moaning with pleasure. This lustful moment boosted up their romantic feelings for each other. They were deeply drowned in a passionate kiss.
After a few seconds, they parted away with shortness of air. Then again resumed it with passion. This time more erotically. Both of them were kissing on the staircase while stepping up. They almost ripped off each other's clothes with passion. Soon they were in their undergarments only. Their outfits were scattered on the stairs.
RK took her in his arms. Madhu was staring at him with happy tears. Their eyes were filled with passion. He kissed her forehead again & took her to the room. Soon both of them got their bodies free from their undergarments. Both of them were desperately waiting for this moment. They were craving for love. Soon they became one. They passionately made love throughout the night.
5 months later.
It was Ruhi's 2nd birthday. Madhu baked cupcakes for her 2nd birthday. She made a cute little cup cake tower for Ruhi. RK was decorating the house with balloons & decorations. Ruhi was running around the house with excitement. The neighbourhood children were invited to her birthday party.
RK went to the kitchen. He back hugged Madhu. She was decorating another cake. He was confused as she put up 'One' in the cake. It was a heart shaped cake.
'Madhu? what is this? Ruhi is turning 2 years na?'
'Nope! this is not for Ruhi.'
'Then?'
'Guess?' Madhu winked.
'Ummm?' RK scratched his head.
'RK!' She punched his chest playfully.
' This is for us! Can you believe? we made it a year!' Madhu spoke proudly.
It was almost a year they married. Their 1st wedding anniversary was coming up in another 2 weeks. A radiant smile crept in RK's face. He hugged her.
Ruhi was in RK's arms. Madhu lit the candles. They sang 'Happy birthday' & cut the cake. Both of them fed their little angel & showered her with kisses.
'Mommy... daddy!' Ruhi spoke in a cute tone. She hugged her parents tightly. After the party, after freshening up RK & Madhu went to their room. They found their little Ruhi sleeping peacefully, surrounded by lots of gifts. They both smiled seeing her.
Madhu went dear the window which was open. The sheer curtains were dancing with the cold breeze. She looked at the sky. The moon was shining in milky white.
'Trish, Rajeev, today your Ruhi celebrated her 2nd birthday. No let me correct, our Ruhi celebrated her birthday. She is the daughter of 4 of us. I know you are looking at us. I know how much happy you will be if you are with us today. I know your blessings are always with us. Trish, thank you so much for giving RK & Ruhi in my life. I can't think of a life without them.
Madhu got emotional. RK back hugged her. Madhu had something special to share which she was hiding from RK for a few days. She was planning to share it with him on their 1st wedding anniversary. But she couldn't wait anymore.
'RK, I have something important to tell you.' Madhu turned back & faced him.
'What? tell me!
'RK!' She put her hands around his neck.
'What? Tell me soon! I'm sleepy!'
'RK!''You are spoiling my mood!' Madhu made a face.
'Okay okay sorry! tell me, but soon!'
'RK.. Ruhi is going to be a big sister!' Madhu finally broke her news of pregnancy. They were going to be parents again, this time it's with their biological child.
'What?' RK's eyes widened.
'Yes.' Madhu smiled brightly while placing his hand on her belly.
'OMG Madhu! are you serious?' RK almost jumped with happiness.
'Yes! it's been 4 days I found out but wanted to keep it as a secret till our anniversary. But I couldn't wait any longer.' She chuckled.
They shared an emotional silence. Their love has grown. Everything happened because of their little angel Ruhi. Destiny made their lives colorful.
'I love you Madhu!' 'Thank you so much for giving such a great news! OMG this is like the best day in my life so far!' He wiped happy tears.
'I love too RK.' Then both of them shared a hug. RK accompanied her to bed. They settled themselves in the bed, little Ruhi between them. Madhu placed a soft kiss on Ruhi's forehead.
'Thank you Ruhi. If not for you, we wouldn't have ended up with each other' Madhu whispered.
'Madhu I'm sure Ruhi will be happy when she gets to know about her to be born little sister.'
'Oh hello! it's a brother!
'No way it's gonna be a junior jungli billi !'
'No! it's a junior Right Kameena!'
'Biwi! it's gonna be a girl!
'No! it's gonna be a boy & it's final'
'Madhu!'
'Shut up! it's a boy!'
Though everything was perfectly happening, one thing never changed. RK & Madhu continued to fight over crazy things.
