@ ManwaLaage - Agree I am a hard core Rishbala fan. But am moving on along with DD and VD. And btw I did not compare 1945 and 2012. I said Madhubala always looked beautiful in whatever she wore. And I did not like the first look of Gayatri . So what!! You are not the only fan of DD. I am also her fan since Meiej. If I don't like her looks or dresses I will say it. Whats wrong with it. If you find these things silly then pls stop commenting.

DD looks great with her natural hair, as well as with the straight hair. But usually Hindi serials female-leads are shown with straight hair, or wavy. Very rarely curly hair is kept for a long stretch.
And since pairings generally look even better if the girl is looking her best (guys can look scruffy or overweight or middle-aged and that's all mass-acceptable if the mass-audience finds them charming as per mass-sensibilities), so female-lead's attempted 'plain-jane' look is usually kept for before the pairing starts.
If the girl is shown rich at the start, then the boy would have to be equally or more rich for her to remain glam after the pairing starts. If he's poorer, then she'd have to be in simpler look afterward.
And if the girl looks traditional rather than modish, her character's mass-popularity is better with TRP-audience.
DVD individually have great charisma and charm as per fandom- as well as non-fandom sensibilities (think DABH's lead-pairing as the most extreme example of difference), so a bit of weight isn't a major problem - though I'm pretty sure DD will be looking her best before the first episode starts. Found her looking damn sweet in the promo actually. But it's likely to be the de-glam look to start off the character, so we can imagine the however glam look that may follow soon after.
And really please don't worry about any weight-gain, DVD both lose weight easily when they set their minds to it, and both have apparently had back-problems at some point or other for a couple of years maybe. Hopefully it will be great health and great serials for both, and a very happy real-life wedding for DD alongside.

I don't know why comment on dd weight always her body is perfect her face looks chubby old era women were chubby so might be she gained weight for the requirements .
Deglam look also drashti looking great and family audience will connect to her easily .
These days trp are based on family audience .

Her real hair is messy if u see offscreen this hairdo is perfect to highlight her face and beauty

It really is quite a task to try to make someone naturally so beautiful to look ordinary!

I was thinking of the classical actresses of that era, meena kumari, madhubala they had more weight then now, chubby a bit, this size zero and really thin look is a current fad but during that era 40's, 50's women looked different if Drashti stays a bit bigger then she did for her previous shows perhaps the ph has requested this to match to that era of women.
