Television stars, unlike movie stars, have steady jobs, especially when serials air for years together. But what happens when soaps end?

What happens to the cast when TV shows wrap up? Rangrasiya, starring Ashish Sharma and Sanaya Irani, is ending this month. Madhubala has already ended. Baawre: Chal Jahan Chalen Mann Ke Paav Re too has wrapped up. And the hit dance show, Jhalak Dikhlaja 8, will also wrap up soon.

Some shows like Maharana Pratap and Jodha Akbar are not ending, but in Maharana Pratap the child stars will be replaced as its time to bring in the grown up Pratap. And in Jodha Akbar, important roles like that of Adham Khan, played by Chetan Hansraj have come to an end. Actor Sahil Phull, who plays Ashfaq in Uttaran will also be leaving the show as his track ends.

While the audience get to view logical conclusions, the actors suddenly find themselves without a job. TV serials unlike movies, are like steady jobs where you report to sets every morning and leave only in the evenings, sometimes for years at end. So, when actors suddenly have to look for another steady job, it must be very tough on them.

Some actors like Sanaya Irani, who plays the female lead in Rangrasiya, Sakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor, from the recently concluded Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and Mouni Roy, who is currently a hot favourite on Jhalak, are lucky. While Sanaya is already being auditioned for a new show, it is rumoured that Sakshi Tanwar will star opposite Ronit Roy in an upcoming soap, Ram Kapoor is inundated with film offers and it looks like Mouni Roy has signed a show with Colours.

But what about the rest? Chetan Hansraj admits that it is tough when you suddenly don't have work, but fortunately he is not in such a situation. "I am getting a lot of TV and movie offers. I am doing a film called Jhol and have even signed up with the makers of Mahadev for an upcoming show." Apart from this, Chetan is busy with his adventure sports business, which he balances along with his acting career.

Vivian Dsena, the male lead of Madhubala is also not worried about his show ending. "I am getting television as well as films offers but nothing has been finalised yet. But I feel so relaxed now after having worked continuously for Madhubala." Vivian adds, "I am not worried about my next job. I treat the intervening periods as relaxing phases. I can sleep and get up whenever I want. The daily routine of reporting to sets in the morning and getting back only at night becomes monotonous."

The actor is now busy playing football and cooking. "Thrice a week, I play football. I shall also be going on a romantic trip with my wife to Goa soon. My stress buster is cooking. Last weekend, the cast of my previous show Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani came home and I cooked for them!" smiles Vivian.

Going on holiday and chilling for a bit seems to be something all actors, who finally have some free time, want to do.

Roshni Walia, who plays the teenage queen-to-be Ajabde, in Maharana Pratap, wants to travel and then celebrate her birthday in a big way. She admits that she will miss the cast and crew of her show, but is not worried on the career front. "I am getting a lot of offers in films as well as in serials," she says.

Karan Tacker, who is seen on Jhalak, is also looking forward to holidaying after the show ends. "I plan to go to London on a family vacation." He is getting many offers and says, "If you are talented, work will definitely come to you. All we need to do is work hard."

And Akshat Singh, the adorable kid from Jhalak, will be seen playing Palak's brother on Comedy Nights with Kapil.
