Drashti Dhami was born on 10 January 1985 in Mumbai, India. She currently resides in Borivali, Mumbai along with her mom, dad, elder bro and sis - in - law. She hails from a very conservative Gujarati family and is the only girl in the family. She completed her schooling from St. Immaculate Girl's High School in Borivili after which she opted for a degree in Sociology from Mithibai College, Mumbai.
Drashti was very keen on acting. But when she got an offer to dance in a music video, she had to seek permission from 10 different family members and particularly from her dad. Her dad is very strict and is extremely possessive about her. Initially, he was dead against it. It wasn't easy for her to convince her dad. It was her cousin who supported her and convinced her dad who then agreed to it. My dad still stands by my side even today whenever I have to take an important decision on my career', said Drashti. And now, her family's support has made her a big star today!
Drashti's mom is a homemaker. She is 58 years old.
Drashti is very close to her mother. She accompanies her at various events. But she went missing from the sets of Jhalak Dikhlaaa Jaa Season 6 as she was out of town.
Jaisheel Dhami is Drashti's elder brother. He is an IT engineer by profession. He tried his hand at acting as well. He debuted in the small screen industry with the daily soap Sapnon Se Bhare Naina aired on Star Plus where he played a minute role.
He was also seen shaking his leg with his wife Suhasi Dhami in popular dance reality show Nach Baliye season 5.Currently he is portraying the role of Farhaan, a negative shade in Zee TV's Qubool Hai.
He shares a great bonding with his sis. He got very happy to see his sister win the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa season6, aired on Colors. In fact he went on the stage and lifted her for around 30 seconds!
Suhasi Goradia Dhami is Drashti's sister - in - law. She is one of the most popular faces of the Indian Television industry and is popularly known as Aabha of Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Khelii.
Suhasi and Drashti share a very cute relationship.The two are more like sisters rather than nanad - bhaabhi.
