PART 20
I came back home early from office next day. RK was leaving for Toronto in the next few hours and I couldn't wait to see him for one last time. I opened my cupboard and looked around for something appropriate. The weather was terribly cold outside and I resorted to simple full-sleeves shirt and jeans. I reached RK's home at around 7. Maa was anxiously waiting for me. I touched her feet and greeted her.

"I'll go see if RK needs any help!", I smiled. She nodded and I went up the elevator to his room. He was busy packing his luggage. I looked at his clothes. He wore simple cotton t-shirt and casual jeans. I had never seen him in casuals in so long. "Hi.", I said waiting for him to turn. "Hi! Come in, why are you standing at the door.", he turned and answered. "This is your room too.", he muttered and looked back into his luggage. "Can I help?", I asked. "I'll manage.", he replied. I frowned and walked close to him. "Hato.", I said. He turned to me in confusion. I pushed him away and opened his luggage. "Get me what all is left to be taken.", I asked. He rolled his eyes to me and then brought the remaining shirts. "Here.", he gave them to me. I smiled and put them in the luggage systematically. He crossed his hands on his chest and waited for me to finish. "And your toiletries?", I asked. He pointed at the other small bag. I opened it up. His shaving kit and everything was in a mess. "This is something Richie Rich doesn't know.", I chided him. He rolled his eyes. I kept his stuff in place and then closed the suitcases. "We're done.", I rubbed my hands. "Thanks!", he mentioned. I glared at him, "whatever."

One of the servants dragged RK's luggage to the living room where he took his mother's blessings and we made it to my car. "Will you be okay?", I asked before sitting inside. "Why?"

"I mean, my car is small."

"Stop chiding me.", he glared. I smiled and sat inside. Putting the seat belts on, I pushed the gas pedal and we moved out of RK Mansion. 3 cars followed my tiny sedan as we drove to a local highway restaurant in proximity to the airport. "They serve delicious fish here.", I remarked. We came out of the car and RK's men followed him. He asked them to stay at the door and we moved in. It was a peaceful dine-in. We sat in one corner and had a quiet dinner. None of us spoke more than required. There was a sense of awkwardness between us and we simple kept chewing our food. After dinner, we drove to the airport. The flight was still due and we strolled on the driveway. "Stay safe.", he said. "I will.", I told him. It was cold and I was rubbing my hands to keep them warm. "You should have put on something warmer."

"I am fine.", I looked at him. My nose went red due to the chill. I looked away to avoid his scolding. It hadn't been a week of our marriage and he was already very different. He had started letting me into his life and he was trying to move on. I felt happy. Thoughts poured into my mind as we walked. I didn't realise when I strayed towards the road and he pulled me back by holding my hand tightly. "Careful!", he yelled. I went blind for a second and would have fainted if RK's hands hadn't found me. "You ok?", he asked.

"Yes.", I shook my head.

"You know. You are very careless", he glared. I flushed.

"I beg you. Please stay out of danger.", he growled. I collected myself. "Sorry. I will take care from now on RK.", I looked at him.

"Sir.", Will poked his nose from behind. In my thoughts, I frowned at him. "We should proceed.", he said. I clenched my fist. He was holding my other hand and I didn't wish to see him go. RK turned to me. "Take care.", he said. I nodded and hugged him tightly. He felt odd but he did reciprocate the hug for whatever reason. "Come back soon", I moaned. "Hmm...", he muttered.

"Will!", RK broke the hug and turned to Will. "Sir.", he replied.

"Make sure Steven is with her all the time.", he said. I frowned.

"I'll get it done Sir. Mam!", he turned me. "Yeah.", I faked a smile. "Please wait here, Steven will get back to you in a few seconds.", Will said. I nodded. RK left my hand took the boarding passes and went inside.

Through the glass pane, he waved to me. I smiled and waved back. Steven found me almost immediately and drove me back to my apartment safely. I unlocked the door and tired as I was, I fell on the couch and slept off pulling a quilt.

The next morning was very usual. I decked up for my work and reached office. Ri had already reached and I went straight to her room.

"Glad you're here.", she heaved a relieved sigh. "Why? Whats wrong?", I closed the door behind me. Adam was sitting next to her. "That Chief Justices Conference, something fishy is going on there.", she said.

"Fishy? As in?"

"As in baby, the Intelligence has been catching some varied coded messages for a while.", Adam explained.

"Coded messages. Ok? How do we know?"

"I have my sources.", Ri stated

"Ok. But we cannot do anything. This is not our job?", I spoke. I had to stay out of trouble as long as RK wasn't around.

"Seriously? This could mean anything MD.", Ri roared at me.

"Like what?", I folded my hands.

"Like, it could be a terrorist activity."

"Or some major overseas crime like smuggling.", Adam added.

"I think we-", I spoke but Ri broke my sentence.

"Get going and find out about this.", she completed my sentence.

"Or, we should concentrate on our works.", I rolled my eyes.

"It will be fun Baby!", Adam cried.

"I don't think so. And anyways, if you guys want to do it. Do it. I'll stay out of it.", I rolled my eyes thinking about RK and his warnings. I could atleast give him this much peace. I walked out of Ri's room in guilt as I really wanted to do it. Aaron was sitting in my cabin and waiting for me. As soon as I walked in, he straightened up. "Good morning, MD" I smiled and asked him to get seated.

"MD, I'd like volunteer for the opening ceremony coverage of the International Conference."

"Hmm, alright. What about the girls?"

"They want to attend the closing"

"Alright. Fair enough. I'll get your passes ready."

"Thanks MD"

"Pleasure."

As soon as Aaron walked out, Ri barged in. I was typing an email to the seniors.

"MD! You cannot ditch us this time."

"I am not doing it Ri. I have decided."

"But why??"

"Because I don't want to."

"NO! Thats not you!! MD never refused an assignment."

"Yes, but we grow with time. We become mature."

"This could be dangerous for other people. Think about it. When we unravel it, it will save so many lives."

"Yes! But in the process, its going to risk our lives."

"Stop talking like a coward."

"I have some reasons Ri."

"Madhu please!", she begged.

"I can't Ri. I have promised someone I will be safe."

"Your parents will never pull you back. I know them."

"You haven't even met them once."

"But you talk about them. Just do it for us!"

"I would have if I could have. Ri please"

"Are you hiding something? What is it MD?", she shook me up. I turned to her and rolled my eyes.

"Why will I hide anything?"

"Because you are! I can sense it."

"Ri, you're imagining stuff."

"MD, you're hiding something. SAY IT."

"I AM NOT", I yelled. She pulled me up. "MD! TELL ME."

"What should I tell you?"

"Who is asking you to not commit to anything risky?"

"Nobody."

"WHO!"

"RK.", I yelled in frustration. She gaped. "What has RK to do with you? How can he control you and your life?"

"He does.", I looked away.

"What the! Tell me Madhu? Has he been torturing you?"

"Torturing? What? Why will he do that?", I popped my eyes open.

"Then? Why are you being controlled by him.", she shook me up. My patience was done with. I held her shoulders, "Because Maria. He is my husband", I showed her the ring. She held my fingers and stared at it bluntly. "Husband?", she choked the word out of her mouth. I sighed and sat back on my chair holding my forehead. "When?", she asked me sitting on the chair next to mine. "Sunday.", I muttered. "Why didn't you?", she asked. "I didn't want to open up so soon.", I admitted. "MD. You married RK. I deserved to know.", she folded her hands on her chest.

"I know Ri. I am sorry. I wasn't ready. All this happened so quickly, before I and RK could realise, we were married. He is in Toronto right now, and I promised him that I shall stay away from danger."

"He is that possessive?"

"Protective - He is. Very. I find it hard to cope up with his protection details for me. Like there's this guard, Steven. Just outside our building. He is watching on me and will escort me back home and stay in the parking."

"My god. He sounds crazy."

"For my safety - Yes. He is crazy. And I cannot understand why. But he thinks I am clumsy and I invite troubles. So I had to swear to him to stay out of danger to the best I can."

"Hmm...it is very hard to gulp the fact that you're married MD. It feels strange and weird."

I smiled softly.

"Let us abandon this idea altogether.", she spoke up after a while.

"What idea?"

"About looking into what is wrong in those intelligence signals."

"If you want to find out, please do Ri. Don't step back because of me."

"No. This is my wedding gift to you and your husband. We shall stay out of this."

"Thank you Ri. Means alot."

"I am still anticipating on what to give you as a gift officially?"

"You can give me something."

"What?"

"Promise me that this whole marriage thing remains a secret between us"

"Ok. I swear MD. I shall keep my mouth shut."

Unres, after so long i came first in your story, let me dance first dinka chika.. So hero wil not come back for next few update and now Ri got to know abt their marriage, good. But why do i feel that madhu wil attend this prob and wil have something serious with it.. Waiting eagerly for next part
