MUMBAI: Improved performance of its fiction properties and a good start of the second season of its high-impact show Satyamev Jayate' have helped Star Plus, the reigning king of the Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) genre, to cross the 700 million GVM (gross television viewership in millions) mark once again in the week ended 8 March.
The channel added 80 million GVMs, or 12.6 per cent, to its previous week's tally. The simulcast of SMJ' also had a rub-off on Life OK, the only other channel in the genre that saw a jump in viewership from 341 million to 373 million.
SAB was marginally up, while Zee TV, Colors and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) saw a dip.
The Hindi GEC category witnessed total GVMs of 2,883 million compared to 2,839 million GVMs it had grabbed in the previous week. The last four-week average of the category stands at 2,814 million GVMs, as per TAM data for the week ended 8 March for the Hindi-speaking markets (HSM), sourced from subscribers.

Star Plus had six shows (Diya Aur Baati Hum', Saathiya Saath Nibhana', Yeh Rishta', Veera', Mahabharat' and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai'), Zee TV had three (Jodha Akbar', Qubool Hai' and Sapne Suhane') and SAB had Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma' in the list.
No fiction show from Colors and SET found a place in the top 10 list.

Colors' non-fiction show Comedy Nights with Kapil' once again topped the category with 9.5 million TVTs. It was followed by DID Little Masters 3' (Zee TV) at No. 2 with 8.8 million and the Grand Finale of India's Got Talent' (Colors) at No. 3 with 6.4 million TVTs. CID' (SET), with 5.1 million TVTs, ranked fourth while SMJ' (Star Plus) was at No. 5 with 4.9 million TVTs.
As per data provided by Star India, the episode of SMJ' on 2 March recorded 7,429 TVTs on a pan-India level and 6,770 TVTs in the HSMs. These are simulcast ratings of the original episode aired on Sunday morning 11 am across seven channels (Star Plus, Star Pravah, Star World, Star Utsav, Star Vijay, Asianet and Doordarshan), along with the 1 pm original airing on ETV Telugu.

Amanda, it's the TVM that's 3.5.
So it's a 0.05 (roundable to 0.1) rise in TRP.
Calculated by strict division by 2.12, TRP is 1.65 roundable to 1.7.
And the more lenient and nicer-looking division by 2.0 results in TRP of 1.75 roundable to 1.8.
