Lovely update! Finally they are married and Rishab's love saved Madhu from utter destruction. But, why does the last sentence -- the happily ever after one -- is making me feel that Maya will be back?? 😕

But there is this one thing which did disturb me, though i had felt it coming long back...To be precise, Madhu's resolve to put Rishabh's happiness above hers unhinged and was lil unsettling for me...yet i want to be hopeful and have faith in Madhu's new found hope 😆 !!

I like that you caught the "This moment" change. It is a big deal for her, a big change in the way she thinks and lives her life. Hopefully, it helps her move on and grow stronger in life.

Chapter 28

Rishabh woke up, but unwilling to open his eyes and fully wake up so soon, he rolled over and stretched his hand where Madhu was sleeping. Not finding her, he half-opened his eyes but did not see her. She was already up? Damn! A day that didn't start with a taste of his wife's luscious lips didn't usually go well for RK anymore. He sat up and looked around for clues where his wife had gone. Even though it had been almost three months since they were married, RK still hadn't shaken off the fear that he felt every time he didn't see Madhu in front of him. What if something happened to her? Somewhere in the back of his head, those images still lived - Madhu collapsing in his arms, the bottle of rat poison in Madhu's purse, the very real possibility of Madhu being in the taxi with her parents. Too many times, he had come too close to losing Madhu, and he fully trusted Madhu's ability to go over the line if he let her out of sight. Even though he'd never be able to fully understand it, he knew Madhu's pains were too great. When it came to Madhu these days, his protective instincts went into over-drive. He knew she had begun to heal in the last three months, but he still felt responsible. He wanted to do everything he could so she would be safe and move on. That is why he had insisted on marrying her, so he could be with her all the time and reassure her that she wasn't alone. That is why he had asked to be staffed on a not-great project so he could be in Delhi all the time. That is why he had spent as much of his free time with Madhu in the last three months as he could. He had to do all that, didn't he? Madhu had been weakened, and he couldn't let her fall. He couldn't live with the guilt if he did.

The shower was running. Madhu was clearly in the shower. RK thought about the last three months of being married to his honey. Despite everything, they had been great, on the whole. The first month was tough, but slowly Madhu's smile had returned. Watching her enthusiastically shop little things for their home was such a peaceful feeling. And most of all, there's nothing like a passionate welcome home every evening that a man could ask for at the end of a tiring day. Every evening, Madhu opened the door with a million dollar smile and jumped in his arms so excited as if Ranbir Kapoor had come to visit her. That look on her face was enough to melt away any stresses from the day, the passion in her kiss enough to warm up the blood. His wife was passionate. Waking up with her in his arms every morning was such bliss, that mornings like these when she beat him were such a downer. Yes, he had done the right thing by marrying his Madhu, and no, he wasn't going to let his wife steal his morning pleasures by being too clever.

"Biwi! Biwi!" he yelled at the top of his voice. "Biwi!"

"Rishu! What happened? I am coming."

"Biwi.." Rishu kept yelling without stopping, until Madhu emerged from the shower with a hastily put bathing robe. Her hair and her body were still dripping wet, and she ran to RK's side. Rishabh's eyes lit up on seeing her - wasn't his wife delicious?

"What happened? Why are you yelling in the morning?" Madhu walked close to the bed, with a look of concern on her face.

"Because...um...because I can't find anything in this house. It's all your fault."

"What are you looking for Rishu?"

"My biwi." RK said as he held Madhu's hand and pulled her over him on the bed. Swiftly he turned her so she was lying with her back on the bed and climbed on top of her.

"Whaatt are you doing? Rishu..Rishabh!" Madhu shrieked.

"How dare you take my biwi away from me in the morning! I am reclaiming my morning dessert!" RK said, his voice sultry, his eyes locked with his wife and hastily plunged to feast on his wife's lips. Yeah, that's how mornings are supposed to be.

"Rishu you're too much!" Madhu said, panting, as RK finally let go of her lips after two full minutes of sucking the life out of her!

"Get off now! I thought it was some emergency, I even left my shower in the middle!"

"It's your fault Biwi" RK smirked, still not letting go of Madhu, forcing her back with his weight. Madhu's wet, swollen lips added to the allure of her wet body and wet hair. "Who told you to have your shower alone? You should have taken me along. Now you have to pay for it" RK grinned, swiftly opened Madhu's bath robe and dove on her neck. He knew the spot - just beneath her ear - that made Madhu crazy and he knew he had got his jungle billi by the claws as he heard her moan and writhe beneath him. Passion soon took over.

Twenty five minutes later, RK was lying on his back waiting for his heartbeat to return to normal, and his beautiful biwi was doing the same, lying on his chest.

"I love you Rishu" Madhu said.

RK smiled. "Good morning biwi! Now, how about that shower?" RK grinned, got off the bed, picked Madhu in his arms and carried her to the bathroom.

****************************************************

One month later

RK was almost home when his phone rang. He got off the elevator and picked up. It was Rohan.

"Hey RK!"

"Hey Rohan! How are you?"

"I am all right...but what's with you? You have totally disappeared"

"No yaar...nothing like that. I am here."

"Come on. It's been almost four months since your marriage and we have seen you like once. You didn't even give us a proper wedding party..."

"No Rohan...you know how it was right. The circumstances in which we got married...and then we were so busy setting up the new house."

"I know yar. Tell me, how's Madhu doing now?"

"Much better. She still has nightmares once in a while, but other than that, I think she is finally moving past her grief. You know I was so scared..."

"I understand. We were all scared for her. What happened to her, shouldn't have. But am proud of you RK, for sticking by her and supporting her when she really needed you. I am sure she will be fine...she is a strong girl. And then you're there with her right."

"Yeah."

"But having said that...you need to take out some time to meet us! You haven't even invited us to your new house yet. Let's all have lunch this weekend? I will call everyone!"

"Okay. Let me talk to Madhu and will confirm."

"Ok. Bye"

Later than evening

"Madhu, Rohan called today?"

"Oh yeah...Ria called me too. She was asking to meet up some time soon."

"Yeah, Rohan was saying the same thing. How about lunch this weekend?"

"Sure. Sounds good. It's been a while since we saw them all. Actually Rishu, I was thinking, let's invite them all home. They haven't been here and we haven't had a house warming party."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I am sure. Can't hide out forever right. And our house is all set up now."

"Hmm. If you are sure then we can call our friends. But won't it be too much work for you?"

"I will manage. Don't worry. Live in the moment, right?"

"Yeah" RK smiled, happy that his old Madhu was back.

*******************************************

On Saturday morning, RK and Madhu were in the mall, shopping for groceries and other stuff before the house warming party later that night. Madhu disappeared somewhere within the aisles and RK was looking for her everywhere

"Madhu...my biwi is a master at disappearing into random places at a store. For someone who doesn't like shopping, she still likes hunting for bargains and value deals a bit too much...now how do I decipher this cryptic list she has given me. And what the hell is a coaster?" RK muttered to himself, gave up, and started searching for his wife. He finally spotted her at the end of the row, kneeling in front of a little sobbing two year old. The kid looked alone, possibly lost and RK watched as Madhu picked her in her arms, caressed her, kissed her and consoled her. Madhu said something and they both laughed, and RK noticed a serene, innocent charm on his wife's face that he hadn't seen for a long time.

"Making friends, are we?" RK asked as he eventually walked upto Madhu. She was completely lost in her own world with the kid.

"Rishu...hmmm...this is Aanya." Madhu said, noticing RK.

"Hi Aanya. Don't you think we should find her mother?"

"Yeah, yeah." Madhu recovered. She had forgotten. "Hold the shopping cart. I will go find Aanya's mommy"

After a couple of minutes, Madhu returned without Aanya.

"Found her mother?"

"Yeah." Madhu answered. RK noticed she was suddenly quieter.

"Ok let's finish the rest of the list. (pause) What happened to you honey?"

"Nothing... let's go."

"You love kids, don't you?" RK asked Madhu later in the car on their drive back home.

"Yeah. Don't you?"

"Umm. They are cute. As long as you can play with them for some time and then return to someone else when they start crying." RK grinned.

"Ha ha. I like kids."

"Stop throwing hints biwi. I don't think I can handle kids of our own."

"Ever?"

"Umm...I don't know. I am still a kid myself. Why don't you take care of me mommy?"

"That you are. But ever? Like maybe five or six years later."

"Okay five or six years later we will talk about it. But until then, I have sole rights on your boobies mommy."

"Rishu!" Madhu chided and RK grinned. They had reached home, so Madhu got off the car with the stuff while RK parked.

Later that evening at the party, Madhu felt happy and proud to be the hostess at her own home. She put up an amazing spread of drinks and food, and all their friends loved the house.

"You need any more help?" Trishna asked Madhu, entering the kitchen.

"Naah, just carry this plate to the living room"

"Okay, half the folks are in the patio though."

"Okay, you take that to the living room. I will take the rest to the patio."

Madhu walked to the patio where Mukund and Nitin were chatting at one corner, and RK and Maya were standing at the other, with drinks in their hand.

She kept the food, smiled at everyone and went back to the kitchen to get more stuff.

As she walked back, for the first time in four months, she thought about Maya again. She hadn't really met Maya ever since their wedding as both her and RK had been so busy putting their life back in order and there had been no time for friends. She, in particular, wasn't that keen for a long time to meet anyone. Now that life had stopped being so testing, Madhu reflected upon how insecure she had been in her love, and for no good reason. She was so scared of losing Rishabh, but she had been proven so wrong. Rishabh didn't leave even when she tried to force him away. Instead he saved her, he married her and he had showered more love on her than she had ever imagined. How stupid she had been in her insecurities! And why? Maybe, Maya at one time had loved RK. Maybe not. She had only heard a few words in a drunken stupor once. It could have meant nothing. Besides, she had always been sure RK did not love Maya. Then why had she spent so long in her life battling unreasoned fears? She was so silly, Madhu thought, smiled and went back to the kitchen to get more snacks.

Destiny had been ignoring Madhu for a long time now. For one, it had been bruised, battered and beaten. For another, happy stories are SO BORING anyway. But complacency has always been her trusted friend.

Destiny smelled something brewing in the confident, complacent airs of madhu's love.

Heya! I just read all your chapters and they were absolutely fantastic. You're an awesome writing for coming up with such a concept. At first i was so angry at this RK lol for the first time I think I actually cursed him so much in my head. He was being downright selfish in the beginning instead of being grateful for having Madhu who only listened and listened. Thank God for Ria and Rohan who gave him that much needed reality check! And so glad Madhu was kinda wary and she didn't totally succumb like before. Glad she became independent. And that Maya I hope she doesn't create any trouble for Madhu! And I get so scared at the end reading the bit by Destiny; it totally freaks me out just like in this chapter it did! Hope nothing bad happens now😉
And I like how you portrayed Madhu in this story; such a strong character. I'm liking their make out session too😉 Continue soon! Can you please PM me when you update next? I'll buddy you if you don't mind😊
