CHAPTER - 7

RK and madhu reached Kundra mansion in 20 minutes and throughout the journey madhu was gazing outside the window lost in her own thoughts. RK decided not to speak anything about her family as he knew it would hurt her. On reaching inside he called out to all his servants.

RK (hoarsely) :" LISTEN EVERYONE.

She is Madhubala malik, the one I am to marry. From now on, she will stay with me.

Patil, get her things to my room and arrange it on her wardrobe.

Mrs. Khanna, get the lunch ready in another 20 mints.

Munna and nikita, from now on you will be with madhu always when she leaves the house and protect her from any harm.

Bittuji, you can go to office and I will be there after having lunch with madhu( turning towards madhu who gives a sheepish half smile to him). Madhu, if you want you may go to our room and get freshened up for lunch.(though she denied it)"

After sometime lunch was served, and madhu and RK were having it. Lunch was a silent process. After that RK asked madhu to take rest and went to his office to complete the left off work. Madhu was standing in the doorway of her room. The bedroom was very large with a large king sized bed on its middle, all in white everything - furniture, walls, bedding. Its sterile and cold but with the most glorious view outside through the glass wall. For a moment Madhu's mouth dropped open seeing the room.

Madhu decided to have a small nap before RK returns from office mainly it was to calm her nerves. After a large nap Madhu came to her senses nearly at 7 PM. She came down to the living area and Mrs.Khanna was busy in the kitchen. She was having a slight headache and decided to have coffee. As she tried to enter the kitchen area Mrs.Khanna stopped her.

Mrs.Khanna: "Ma'm, u are not supposed to enter this area. Tell me what you want and I will prepare it for you."

Madhu: "Its ok but I can prepare myself" (And Madhu tries to get in)

Mrs.Khanna(blocking her way): "NO ma'm chief will be very angry if he comes to know that I put you to work. Please Ma'm tell me what do you want?"

Madhu(shocked): "I just want some coffee"

Mrs.Khanna: "Anything else with that ma'm"

Madhu: "No nothing"

Mrs.Khanna: "Make yourself comfortable on the breakfast table. I will get you coffee in an instant."

Madhu sits on the breakfast table. After few mints Mrs.Khanna appears with a tray on her hand. She places the tray on the breakfast table and makes coffee for Madhu and also places a plate of cookies in front of her. Madhu asks her to sit by her side on the table which she politely refuses and stands beside her.

Madhu: "What are you doing in kitchen at this hour?"

Mrs.Khanna: "Preparing dinner ma'm"

Madhu: "Why so early? When does RK have his dinner?"

Mrs.Khanna: "I don't know ma'm. all I know is I prepare the food, place it on the breakfast table neatly and leave the mansion before 8."

Madhu(shocked) :"what? Then who will serve food for RK."

Mrs.Khanna :" I don't know ma'm. but that's the rule."

Madhu (still in shock) :" Rule? What rule?"

Mrs.Khanna :" The rule that everyone in this house(servants) have to leave the mansion at 8PM sharp no matter what.(Madhu looks devastated by her comment and she continues) Ma'm if you don't mind please allow me to complete my undone work. I am running short of time."

Madhu nods a yes to Mrs.Khanna and she is completely shocked by the rules of RK. At 8 PM everyone including Mrs.Khanna left the house. Madhu was all alone in that mansion. Madhu decided to have a stroll of the mansion as she was bored sitting alone and without any work.

The house was of course a huge two storey building, an isolated house, a little apart from manhood. The foyer was all white. In the middle is a round, dark wood table, and on it is an unbelievably huge bunch of white flowers. On the walls there were paintings everywhere. The foyer leads to a set of double doors, and the white that continues across a wide corridor where directly opposite, is the entrance to a palatial room. It's the main living area, double height. HUGE' is too small a word for it. The farwall is glass and leads onto a balcony. To the left is an imposing "U" shaped sofa that could seat at least 10 peoples comfortably. On the right by the entry way is the kitchen area. All white with dark wood worktops and a breakfast bar that seats 6. Near the kitchen area, in front of the glass wall, is a dining table surrounded by 10 chairs. There is art of all shapes and sizes on all the walls. In fact the house looked more like a gallery than a place to live. The living area then leads to two more rooms there. Near the sofa there are stairs which leads straight to RK's room and two more rooms upstairs. All the rooms were fully furnished and were also clean and clinical.(typical to that of a raichand house in K3G except for the fact that the house was surrounded by more trees on either sides of it.)

Now madhu was feeling a bit frightened to be alone in such a big house. Suddenly she heard a huge sound (sound was as though something was fallen) from behind the house. She was scared to even move from the place but after sometime gathered enough courage to step out of the house towards the sound. In her mind she was saying prayers for her safety. Many a times she decided to turn back and run away. But she didn't and marched towards the back of the house. She saw a small building there but an old one that needs renovation. As she went nearer to it, she was so frightened as it resembled a haunted place. She opened the doors and suddenly to her shock a black cat crossed her way and she got more frightened and screamed. She thought for minutes before entering the building. The haunted resemblance of the building and the black cat everything created a panic in her senses. Finally she decided to enter it and was about to enter the place that she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulders and screamed at the top of her voice once more. She turned back slowly to see RK behind her and she hugged him tightly. RK held her at an arm's distance and asked her.

RK (with anger, fear and pain) :" what the hell are you doing here, madhu?"

Madhu (shocked and frightened):" I heard a sound from here and thought of checking on it?"

RK did not wait more to hear on the situation. He went near the door and closed it, held madhu's hand and dragged her to the mansion and pushed her on the sofa. Madhu was so frightened and sweating by now both by the situation and also by RK whose eyes had turned red with anger and fury and he ran his fingers on his hair to calm his nerves.

RK :" madhu now that you are in this mansion, I would like you to follow some rules for your safety.

Firstly, you will never do any work in this house. If you want anything also you will just order the servants in here.

Secondly, you will not step outside the house without munna and nikita as they are your bodyguards from now onwards. You will always be accompanied by them.

Thirdly, you will never ever near that old building which you tried to enter a few minutes before nor the closed room upstairs. Both are strictly FORBIDDEN for you.

Fourthly, do you want to continue with your job?( madhu nods a yes'). Just forget it madhu. You are not going on your work anymore( madhu tries to protest but RK holds his index finger to her face) enough madhu, I don't want you in any trouble.

REMEMBER NEVER EVER TRY TO DEFY MY WORDS AND DON'T EVER TEST MY PATIENCE.

IF YOU PUT A TOE OUT OF LINE AGAINST THESE RULES I WILL PUNISH YOU SEVERELY. UNDERSTAND.

Now I will go and get freshen up. Then we will have dinner together."

madhu nods a yes' to it looking down at her knotted fingers. She wanted to protest but thought that the moment was not good for it as she broke one of his rules unknowingly and RK was furious at her and she decided to wait for a good opportunity. While madhu was waiting for his arrival downstairs, the incident which happened a few minutes ago came afresh in her mind. She was a reporter and she knew him more than the common people. There was always a buzz in the society that RK was a man of dark secrets and privacy. For the past two months she never gave a thought about RK or the life with him as her mind was fully concentrated on her mother and her treatment. But now when she was to live alone with RK in a big mansion she was forced to think and know more about him. She hurried towards her backpack and took the article she prepared on RK based on the interview she took of him. She hurriedly went through the information in the hope of getting any clues from it. She was sweating badly through out. While going through the article, her mind was constantly repeating the questions to herself.

" how can two people (a couple) live in a house bound by some senseless rules?

Is he really a man of dark secrets?

What could possibly be there in that old building and the room upstairs? Why am I for bidden to both the places?"

Suddenly she heard footsteps coming down and she immediately put the article in her backpack and stood near the breakfast table as though she was waiting for him for hours. When he came down, she gave him a sheepish smile and served the food on the table. When she looked at him, she got frightened because his eyes remained the same red with anger and fury. He walked towards her closing the distance between them and leaned into her and she also leaned backwards onto the table.

RK (in a hoarse voice) :" what did you ask me that day?"

Madhu (OMG what is he saying? Now what did I do to offend him and which day he is talking about?) (merely in a whisper) :" RK... I don't get you? What are you talking about? Which day and I asked what? Now what did I do to offend you?"
