CHAPTER-4

With this Madhu sped from the room, leaving a stunned RK behind.

RK to himself :" not so fast Ms,Malik. Having doubted me for a gay, you just can't slip away that fast from my life. Anyways, I have decided to prove to you that I am not a gay. Madhubala ...ahaan."

RK did not expect such a behavior from any girl. His charm worked on any girl and to him madhu was no exception. But her sudden instinct surprised him. He was more interested to know about her. On the other hand madhu was so mad with his behavior towards her and she rushed from his office to inhale fresh air. At 1 noon, madhu reached her office and continued with her work. Still now she was pissed off with RK. Then she was called by Vivian to his cabin to know about the interview with RK.

There is a knock on the door.

Vivian :" come in ...plz be seated."

Madhu :" thank you sir."

Vivian :" How was the interview madhu."

Madhu :" it went well sir."

Vivian :" but you seem a little pissed off. Why what happened?"

Madhu(with a fake smile) :"no no nothing sir. I'm alright. But I am a little disappointed with myself since I couldn't get any of his personal details from his mouth. He is so arrogant."(I was only thinking if he possessed some character in addition to power, position, status etc it would have been better for him. Maybe that's why he doesn't have any girlfriend? Doesn't even know how to respect women? Uncivilized moron uhmmm... )

Vivian :"oh he is always like that. It's a wonder that he gave you permission for an interview. That itself is big. He is a very private man madhu and goes to any level to maintain his privacy. That's what I have heard about him. Ok then, Madhu I want this article on RK to be published on Sunday's paper. Plz work on it and get it ready by Saturday somehow. Also all our senior officials wanted to appreciate you for this interview. I also want to do the same but in person. I hope this article will fetch us the target circulation by next month. If that is so, then I promise you with a promotion.

So apart from the office work would you come with me for a coffee this evening. I also wanted to talk to you about..."

Madhu(gave a I-got-you smile) :" about..."

Vivian(with a ghostly smile) :"that you will get to know by today evening. Now you may plz continue with your work, madhu. Thank you"

Madhu :"Thank you sir."

Madhu got up from the chair, raised her eyebrows to give him a I- will-wait-till-then look and proceeded towards her work. Both of them knew too well about the topic of their evening.

Vivian to himself :" Madhu, today I will tell you how important you are to me? How much I love you? And how much I long to be a part of your life and your family? I can't wait till evening to hear a YES' from you"

Madhu to herself :" vivi, I know too well what you are going to say to me today. I am also eagerly waiting for this evening. In fact I was waiting for this day for quite a long time. Now I can wait no more. Plz make it fast and make me yours."

Madhu got back to reality from the trance and thought of completing her work. She took her digital recorder from her backpack and was about to start the article on RK that her phone buzzed and it was a call from her home and madhu recognized it to be her brother.

Madhu :" hello jaan, why did you call me?"

Rohan(with panic in his voice) :" Didu... didu... Maaa...maaa."

Madhu (frightened and slightly shivering) :" jaan, why are you desperate and what happened to mamma?"

Rohan :"I was watching tv when I heard a large thud from the kitchen. I rushed towards kitchen and saw mamma lying unconscious on the floor. With the help of some neighbors I brought her to the nearby hospital. I am so scared didu. Plz do come fast."

Madhu (in between sobs) :" don't worry jaan. I will be there in a minute. Till then you take care of mamma. By the way, what is the name of the hospital. "

Rohan :"city hospital, didu."

Madhu almost ran to vivian's cabin to tell him everything and after getting his permission she rushed towards the hospital. She reached the hospital within 15 minutes and saw that her brother was sitting and weeping outside the ICU. She ran towards him and

Madhu (sobbing) :" where is mamma, jaan?"

Rohan :" didu, mamma is in the IC unit and the doctors are diagnosing her."

Just then the door opened and the doctor came out. He was nearing his fifties and he looked a bit tough. He enquired.

Doctor :" are you people relatives to the patient?"

Madhu( weeping yet controlling herself from bursting out) :" yes doctor, she is my mother. How's she? I hope everything is ok with her."

Doctor :" I would like to meet you in my cabin, Ms..."

Madhu :" ah... Ms. Madhubala Malik."

Doctor :" ok Ms.Malik. follow me and you(turning to rohan)can wait here. Brave boy."

Madhu followed the doctor to his cabin and on the way also prayed throughout for her mother's wellbeing but she knew from the behavior of the doctor that something was odd. On reaching the cabin,

Doctor(coldly) :" madhu, you are so young. Can I talk to someone else in your family, may be to your father or someone elder than you?"

Madhu(panicking) :" doctor, my father is no more. Btw you can talk to me itself. How's my mother?"

Doctor(with a sigh of desperation) :" oh so, I am sorry beta. I hate to say this to anyone. But have got no other go. Your mother's condition is serious, very serious. In fact severe I should say. Did you know She's been suffering from TB."

Madhu(shocked and in between sobs) :" what, TB? How long, doctor?

Doctor :" according to the X-Rays, it's long, very long at least 4-5 years. but that alone is not it, beta. Her ignorance to this disease and her health has made it much worse. Now it's affecting her coronary muscles also. That's why she became unconscious today and beta this requires immediate treatment.(with a deep sigh) an operation and some highly powerful medicines and that too within a week's time otherwise I'm sorry to say but you may lose her."

Madhu(busted out in front of the doctor and started weeping with her face buried in her hands) :" NNNooo, plz doctor do something plz . No matter how much but I will arrange for the money. Plz doctor get going with the treatment. I want my mamma safe and healthy."

Doctor (consoling madhu) :" calm down beta. If you really want me to get started with the treatment, I will do so. But I will tell you the procedure so that you can arrange for the money.

Firstly her TB needs the treatment which can be done by a key hole surgery. It will cost more than 5 lakhs and the medicines related to it will cost upto 2 lakhs for a year.

Secondly after a month maximum or so we can conduct a by pass surgery which will be again a costly process of about 10-12 lakhs together with her medicines. Taking her health into consideration, all these should be done in two months and not more than that.

I know beta that it's difficult for you but you have to arrange about 15-20 lakhs in a week's time. But this does not include my fees. I will cancel it down for you. Once in a year I do this and this year I choose you. Good luck beta, god bless you."

Madhu(with a feel of greatfulness) :"Thank you so much sir."

Madhu walked out of the cabin with a heavy heart. Everything became blurred in front of her when she thought of the huge amount she has to arrange for her mother but she was determined to do it somehow. In her slurry of thoughts she didn't even recognize that she was walking past her brother who was now worried for her sister also. She did not answer any of his questions on her encounter with the doctor instead she told him that everything was alright and that their mother needs a little rest. Rohan was too happy to hear that. Madhu asked him to go home and take rest as now it became more impossible for her to calm herself in front of her own brother from bursting out. Rohan, not knowing anything, hugs his sister tightly and goes home. Madhu helped herself on a chair and buried her hands on her palms. Tears came running down her cheeks and she thought of different ways of raising the money. She thought of Vivian, mukund and even thought of getting a loan from her office. But she was not hopeful in any of these ways. She leaned on the chair and stared deep into the hospital unknowingly and her eyes fell on a statue of devi maa and she walked towards it.

Madhu (in front of the statue in knees and in a praying position):" plz maa, give me strength. Show me some way. I want my mom. 10 years before I lost my dad. But now I don't want to lose my mother also. Plzzz. Plzzz maa. Don't do this to me."

Just then the doctor came to her in all smiles and called madhu.

Doctor :"Madhu beta, don't worry everything is under control. Sometime before a man called me and told me that they are ready to spend money for your mom. You are so lucky."

Madhu (shocked and happy) :" what sir? Is that true? How can that be? Who is he?"

Doctor :" that I don't know beta. But he has given me a number and has asked you to contact him tomorrow. Here is the number."

Madhu(taking the piece of paper from the doctor) :" Sure sir. I will definitely contact him tomorrow itself. I owe him this much atleast."

She once more turned towards the statue and thanked it and walked towards her chair.

THREE MONTHS LATER::

Padmini(all worried and caressing madhu) :" madhu beta you look so tired and weak also. You go home and feel relaxed. I am alright. Anyways I am getting discharged tomorrow. So you leave. Trishna is here to take care of me, na. you have troubled yourself so much for me. Now that's enough. You go home and that's an ORDER."

Madhu hesitantly gets up from the chair and decides to go home and before going warns her sister to take good care of padmini and not hesitate to call her at any emergency. Madhu reaches home by 9:00 at night and decides to go to bed even without eating as she was too tired to even prepare anything now. She gets on her bed hastily, draws the duvet over her, puts off the lights and shifts into a deep slumber. After sometime she felt a hand moving on her waist. She was too tired to even open her eyes and shrugged off the thought to be a mere illusion. The hand slowly travelled north above her body and traced her bosoms, cupping them...she trembled in need, moaning softly. She thought it to be a dream and she turned the other side. Then she felt the warmth of soft wet lips on hers and this time she opened her eyes, switched on the lights and got a shock of her life.

There lay on the bed, inside her duvet was none other than RISHAB KUNDRA, the super tycoon.

RK(seductively) :" come and lie beside me, BI..WI.."
