A fire blazed before me, shining bright in my eyes. It burned a cheerful colour but held darkness within it.
I glanced around as an eerie silence filled the air. Silent tears fell from the faces of a hundred people, some strangers, some not.
I stood still, like a statue, still in denial. Not wanting to accept the scene before me. I took a step back, and another, and another. I let my feet drag me away before I broke down into a million pieces. I could feel my heart already beginning to shatter; I could feel its faltering beat in my ears. I slowly turned around, facing a quiet, empty street. Not a vehicle in sight.
"Rishabh!"
I could hear the faded cries for me from behind as I pulled myself away from the pain. Shutting myself down with every step I took. Letting myself walk away from what once was my life.
I stepped into the middle of the road and closed my eyes; letting the rain drench whatever was left of me.
"Rishabh!"
More cries.
I zoned them out.
I slowly opened my eyes and glanced up at the sky. I had only one question on my mind, why?
I fell to my knees.
"WHY!"
I yelled out to the sky, only to have silence as a response to my voice that echoed in the distance.
"Why..."
My voice trailed off. My eyes flickered as the rain droplets hung to my eyelashes. My eyes dropped down to the cracked cement of the road.
I felt a final beat of my faltering heart and then silence. No more thrumming of its beat in my ears.
No more feeling.
Nothing.
It was all over. Everything had come to an end.
