I don't want you to give birth to this baby. These words will keep haunting her for the rest of her life. Madhu will never forget the day RK uttered those sinful words. Her protective instinct for the unborn child had shifted to high gear. No one, not even RK, could harm her precious baby. She did not tolerate anyone trying to stop her from brining her Arjun into this world. In her mind, Madhu was sure that she would give birth to a boy. But sadly even her jungli billi protective momma instinct could not save her unborn child.
Past
Madhu was not feeling too well, a normal occurrence during the first trimester. She opted to stay at home instead of going to one of the dozens of promotional parties she was required to attend as a heroine. RK was none too happy about her decision and plainly told her as he was often wont to do, that the baby was a hindrance to their success. She knew that was not the case. Even with the pregnancy, she successfully finished shooting for the film. With the exception of that night, Madhu was a consummate professional.
That unfortunate night she was all alone in the house. She was quite famished and wanted to quickly prepare a meal without having to disturb the servants. As she was walking down the stairs, she lost her footing. Roma was worried about her Glycerine and came to check up on Madhu and found her lying unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. She immediately took her to the hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors could not save her beloved Arjun.
Roma tried many times to call both RK and Bittuji but their phones were switched off. Madhu regained consciousness and asked her to not make any more phone calls and to take her to the chawl. She told a white lie that she doesn't want RK to find out yet and worry. He had too much to worry in regards to the film's success. She told Roma that once the time is right, she will tell RK about the miscarriage. After that incident, Roma stayed true to her words and did not inform RK or anyone in the family about Madhu's miscarriage.
The loss of her child had turned her into a zombie. All she did was work, work and work to make sure that the film would be a super hit. First she lost her husband in his zest to remain a Superstar and in a way she lost her child to it too. She sacrificed it all to the film for RK's Superstar status to remain intact. Her promise to RK to make the film a success was all she had left. And no matter what, she was determined to fulfill her promise.
Madhu knew that she could not blame RK per se for the miscarriage. But he wished for her innocent baby to not be born and it was fulfilled. Did Bappa take her child away because his best friend didn't want it?
Present
The film finally premiered and it had become an instant hit. They made a huge profit from it and they can easily payoff the bank. Not only did the film break box office records, RK has recovered fully from his partial paralysis. He can now move all his limbs with very little discomfort.
Madhu is in their room, she had just packed up her clothes. She ponders whether to leave while RK is still at the bank taking care of repayment of the loan or to wait for his return. Madhu looks around the room. From today onward, it will no longer be her room. Staying at RM has turned into a painful experience.
RK (happily walks into their room): Biwi...tonight we are celebrating. (Smirks) Be ready to go out for a nice, sweet, romantic dinner with your handsome, dashing, charming husband.
He comes from behind and wraps his arms around Madhu. She slightly stiffens at his close proximity. Ever since the night he broke her trust, she has not felt comfortable...safe in his presence.
RK (places his hands over Madhu's belly and gently caresses it): My choti jungli billi here wants to go out and celebrate. (Rests his head on her shoulders) You know what biwi? I am glad you stood up to me that day and decided against the abortion. I was so frustrated and didn't think that you could handle the stress from the pregnancy and carry out your duties as a heroine. But you proved me wrong Madhu. Thank you. (Excitedly) I can't wait all these months to bring our little symbol of love into this world.
Madhu gently extricates herself out of RK's arms and walk away from him. At first he is puzzled with her behavior. He did not notice her cold, aloof behavior for the last few weeks because he was giving her the same in equal measure. But now he is being all sweet and loving but biwi is not melting like butter at his feet. However, RK's confusion clears when he notices her luggage near the door.
RK (follows Madhu and turns her around): Madhu? Why are your bags packed? Where are you going? Dammit biwi! Answer me! You're pregnant and instead of taking care of your health, you're going on some holiday? How could you think of going without even discussing it with me first?
Madhu pulls out of RK's arms and calls for Patil and Mangesh to take her luggage downstairs.
RK (frustrated): Madhu you still haven't answered my questions!
Madhu (calmly faces RK): I am glad you have some powers of deduction left patidev. You are right I am going somewhere but not for vacation. I am leaving this mausoleum forever.
RK (shocked): Madhu...?
Madhu: Want to know why I didn't discuss it with you? Well ask yourself this, do you ever discuss anything with me? No of course not. Superstar RK makes his own decisions and everyone else is required to follow it.
RK: Biwi...calm...calm down. Your hormones are out of w...
Madhu (interrupts): Mr. Rishab Kundra my hormones aren't making me do anything because I am no longer pregnant.
RK reels back in shock. Did he just hear his biwi right?
Madhu (continues): I had a miscarriage a few weeks ago. Please don't ask why you were not aware of it it's because I didn't want you to know. You lost all rights to know about the baby and when you TOLD me to abort MY child for the sake of YOUR film. Well your wish came true. The baby you didn't want to come into this world never will. I am done with having to constantly compromise and make sacrifices so you're superstar status won't be in jeopardy. I have made the biggest sacrifice of it all, the loss of my baby. I have nothing else left to give. You killed our love RK with your selfish ways. You broke my heart and trust in ways that they can never be repaired.
Madhu walks out of RM with her head held high up and with dignity. Though her heart has been irreparably damaged, she could not allow RK to take away the last vestige of her sanity. She can no longer love and be the sacrificial lamb at the altar of her Right Kameena's Altar of Superstardom.
