“Why aren’t Bollywood actresses supporting Deepika? - Upala KBR
Madhu got up early next day. She remembered Radha saying her last night to help her with the puja preparations. As she tip-toed past the bed, he saw Rishabh sleeping peacefully, but his cover almost slipping off from his body. She silently approached near and pulled over the cover on him. Rishabh snuggled more into the cover and continued sleeping. He looked like a small baby in his sleep. Madhu smiled seeing him like that, and then hurriedly left the room.
Puja was early that year; and monsoon was yet to be gone. The early morning sky was full of grey clouds, and after a light shower last night, the puja mandap was water logged and Madhu saw all the ladies in the household busy clearing the area and getting ready for the puja preparations. She did not know what to do, so stood at one corner, waiting for someone instructing what to do. "O ma, notun bou (new bride), what are you doing here so early? Did you sleep well last night?" asked Rishabh's aunt. Madhu nodded her head meaning yes, when she noticed the other ladies looking at her and giggling. "Where is Ma?" enquired Madhu. "Here I am," said Radha as she approached her. "What am I supposed to do here?" Radha wanted to burden her with as many chores as possible, so that she would not be wandering around aimlessly. But all the ladies present opined that being a new bride she would not have to do anything, just be with them if she wishes to. Rishabh's aunt was most pleasing of them all; she had an instant liking for Madhu, and perceiving Radha's slight indignation about Madhu, she was all the more protective. Radha, slightly disappointed, headed back to the kitchen. "You go and take bath Madhu. This is a puja house, people will be coming in all the day and they might want to meet the new bride. You wear a new saree and ornaments and come down to the mandap. By that time Rishabh will be awake, and you serve him his breakfast,' said aunt. Madhu took her leave and headed towards the pond at the back of the house.
Rishabh woke up and stretched his arms lazily. Suddenly he remembered he had a wife who was sleeping on the floor last night. He jumped out of the bed and searched for Madhu, but could not see her anywhere in or around the room. Then he heard the bustling sound from ground floor and as he peeked at the inner quadrangle he saw people running here and there in the puja preparation. After freshening up, he decided to go to the terrace and take some fresh air. As he walked up to the terrace, wind blew on his face and an earthy smell from the rain last night filled the air. He took deep breath and leisurely walked to the other end of the terrace. Suddenly he saw some movement within the sarees and clothes, hung on ropes for drying. As he went closer, he saw Madhu trying to hang her washed saree onto the rope. But with her short height she could not reach the rope, and kept on jumping. Rishabh chuckled seeing her attempts at reaching the rope, then stealthily walked up behind her and hauled her up to the required height. Madhu was startled by his touch and gasped out loud. As Rishabh brought her down he realized Madhu was completely wet, the water droplets still hung on her silk smooth skin and her curls were dripping, drenching her saree around the bust. Rishabh's hands instinctively drew Madhu's waist closer to himself. Madhu could feel his warm breath on her bare shoulder and she struggled to free herself. She froze instantly as she felt his lips on her nape and slowly progressing to the upper part of her neck. A sudden thunderclap in the clouds startled both of them, and before Rishabh could hold on to her, Madhu jerked his hands off her and ran downstairs. "Even you are my enemy now," complained Rishabh looking at the clouds above.
Madhu came running to their room and closed the door behind her. Her heart was pounding hard and had goosebumps all over her skin. Why did she feel like this whenever he wanted to come closer? She felt like running away from there, as avoiding Rishabh would be next to impossible in this house. Suddenly she missed her mother and wished she was here so that she could ask her why this was happening to her. When she saw that Rishabh did not follow her to the room, she decided to dress up and go downstairs as instructed by the aunt.
"Where were you Madhu? Rishabh is waiting for his breakfast," chided Radha seeing Madhu. She hurried to the kitchen where Rishabh was waiting. Madhu silently served him luchi-alur dom (puri-sabzi) which he started eating. After he finished his food and washed his hands, his aunt asked him, "Oi Rishu, won't you have some sweets?" Rishabh smiled at Madhu who was waiting at the corner of the kitchen and replied, "Shokalei kheye niyechi (I ate it already in the morning."
