I am so pissed that this show got butchered in the worst way possible that even though it is on-air I just can't make myself to watch it anymore. For any other show, I would have quit not to ever watch it again, but I just can't give up on RishBala. So, I started thinking, where and how the show got butchered?🤔 So here is my opinion.

Okay, an anti-hero, a grey shaded character, a sort of antagonist for a protagonist is always a wonderful idea. And the CV's nailed this theory when they wrote RK.. 👏 But what were they thinking when they wrote Sultan? Or the better question will be, were they even thinking? 😕The way I see it, they wanted to introduce an arch-enemy for RK, an "antagonist" who is actually anti-RK. Okay good idea. 👍🏼 They should have introduced a character which is as powerful as RK, I know it is difficult but still, if they are bringing in someone to stand against RK, he should be at least of his standard so when the face-off happens, it can become epic.😊

But man did the CV's disappoint me!🥺 They tried to show an antagonist who is "supposedly a protagonist by nature".😕 But that could never work, especially the way he entered the show by killing off so many people, using his son as a bait and claiming to be Mumbai ka Sultan.😲 If anything they should have portrayed him as a vigilante who never takes law in hand but helps it, kind of like a Bruce Wayne but with little resources and minus the costume that would have looked hilarious on bhai.😆 Anyways, the guy should definitely not have been a don (because when you say don, a very horrible kind of a person comes to mind who has done every crime in the book to get to that position). That's only if he were to be shown in a gangster kind of a role. I still don't get why CV's couldn't have made him a journalist, struggling actor, director or just about anything else.😕 So, they made him a don (which just makes it hard for me to sympathize or connect with him), who is supposed to be wanted, obviously, both by his enemies and the police but apparently none of them give a damn after he escapes from within their reach.😲 No one comes looking for him. It's like after a certain time they lost interest in him. Kahan he used to be careful while eating something if in case it was poisoned, such was the threat of his enemies and kahan.. chalo choro.. But man, sometimes I think If that's what Mumbai ka Don is like, then Mumbai must be the safest place on face of planet earth these days, because apparantly there is noone to challenge bhai and bhai himself is not doing don-giri on anyone other than RK's servants and some poor bodyguards.😲 Like seriously, Police force of 11 countries is supposed to look for a don, day and night, and is don ko pakarnay main toh gali ka chaukidaar bhi nhi interest leta..😲

So, in my opinion, it all began when a very wise man on the creatives team suggested to make a protagonist like antagonist out of an established mafia don. And then the clunk began.. 😡

P.S. This is entirely my opinion, I am not forcing it on anyone nor I can, so I will understand if you do not agree with me. Sorry if I offended your viewpoint in anyway. Please Like the post if you like it and do comment. 😊

I totally agree! Characterization is horrible in this show. I think the CVs secretly got replaced cuz the show started out great. And about gangsters...I think ST suddenly has this huge obsession with gangsters. First sultan then the protagonist in his new show Jaan.

Nice post..about the show, for me it's always about Rishbala and its only for them that I watch the show,. Rest of them just don't matter,.,

Actually the way people wholeheartedly accepted the grey hero, the CVs became overconfident and wrote a 'white villain'.. But this time it was a disaster.. Bhai's safedi ki chamkaar and gold plated heart did not go well with sane audience..
So they made a few additions to his already flourishing Dard ki Dukan.. It's still not working, so I dunno what they will come up with next..
In my opinion, his character is one of the most poorly etched character on small screen.. And it fails to impress me and people around me..
I always like strong characters with strong stances. And a don's character, I m not sure how common it's on Indian screen.. Don't watch too many shows..

But personally, I like RK's character,, his sharp brain, enigmatic persona, his shrewd nature, presence of mind is something tat appeals to me!! I saw this auntie who was fangirling on him.. It was hilarious.

His entrance in the show could have been better. First impressions are very important. But his character failed to impress me and many other people.

I still think that Sultan's entry was a bit fishy. It seemed so preplanned. I mean common, a fight going on in a jungle in filmcity? Really? Out of all the places in the world, a gangster chooses filmcity.

There was a show called Laagi Tujhse Lagan and it's protagonist was a don. But his character was shaped well. He wasn't perfect nor did he have a golden heart. He was shown torturing the heroine...actually he was kinda like RK but not the same. RK is different.

Thanks for appreciating the post, 😊 Its like they put all their hard work on RK and BSC. I guess they elevated the standard of the show too much which increased our expectation and made it hard for them keep up with the standard. And if he is obsessed about gangsters then he should choose his other show i.e. jaan as an outlet for his obsession. Man, the show just does not make sense anymore. 😔

@Bold - Incidentally, Laagi Tujhse Lagaan was ST'S concept. he does seem to be obsessed with gangsters. 😕
But the characterisation of Datta Bhau was splendid. I used to be hooked. Sultan is not a patch on Datta.

BSC is a legend! The best villain ever! He was funny and scary at the same time! I miss him so much...And raj zutshi is an amazing actor!

And RK...nobody can ever fully understand him...there is so much mystery to his character. That's what draws me to him. And uff his dialogues! The dialogues are what make RK who he is! And vivian is so good at delivering his dialogues along with his expressions. My friend, who doesn't even understand Hindi was watching a scene of RK cuz I forced her to but she ended up saying that even though she couldnt understand what RK was saying, his tone and expressions said it all!
