It's not that she's being selfish, it's just the way Madhu is.

This isn't the first time that she has taken things into her own hands, we've been seeing her do this since the day she met RK and the whole Mukkund case.

Madhu will do what Madhu wants and will decide to let her parents know as and when she sees fit.

Padmini and Shamsher have both brought her up with full trust and head strong confidence therefore she knows that no matter what she will be able to pacify them when the time is right.

With this situation as well she realises that right now saying anything to Padmini is futile so she thinks that if she marries RK and Padmini can ACTUALLY see that RK has changed and how happy Madhu is then she will realise that her fears and worry is unfounded.

The only problem though is that I think Madhu should A) confess to RK what her intentions were because too many outsiders are aware of them and can have an negative impact ie Sultan/Dips/Padmini and B) she should actually sit down and explain to Padmini that she isn't going ahead with her plan and has forgiven RK, because Padmini is still under the impression that Madhu is taking her revenge.

Trishna has tried to explain this to Padmini but Paddo isn't listening she's gone into crazy Mother India melodramatic mode and the only person who can calm her usually in these situations is Roma but she is AWOL it seems.

So no Madhu isn't being selfish, she's trying to go about things in her way, not to say it's 100% correct this time because things are a little more complicated and mixed up so yes I agree she should try to talk to her mother, but see even RK isn't aware of the real reason and hence he just thinks that Paddo is angry at him from the previous wedding drama and he did try to apologise and sort things out but instead Paddo said she won't let this marriage take place so understandably he is a little apprehensive trying to confront her again because he feels she might convince Madhu not to marry him, so he's trying to reassure Madhu and make sure she believes him
