I do understand the difference between Real and Reel. I don't understand how someone can be so enamoured of a fictional character as to justify the violence that he's inflicting. Don't tell me that someone who condemns violence against women in real life can be so approving of violence by a fictional character. That kind of cognitive dissonance doesn't really exist.

If you support and try to justify violence by a fictional character, you're probably also thinking that such violence can be justified in real life too.

Let me clarify that I have nothing against something like this being shown in a fictional show. A screenplay writer should have enough creative licence to push the boundaries for what gets shown - otherwise we'd never move beyond status quo.

However, what does bother me is this: the justifications extended for RK being a violent, abusive man

Some of the stuff that I've read on this forum makes me blood run cold. Never have I seen a bunch of women gather and with great glee go over their enjoyment of the abuse of a woman - and it's very hard not to conclude that the male lead's hotness has a lot to do with it.

What's also baffling is that all of you seem to know that what RK is doing is indefensible. You were so disturbed by what I wrote (in jest) and yet you seem to think that when it concerns someone else, then a different set of standards apply.

This is inconsistent right?

So, kindly look for other places in the forum where your sermonizing and moralizing thoughts would be welcomed.
