MB Land : A Dwelling of Inscrutable Characters

My attempt or rather rant to make sense of the drama shown post revenge and particularly this week, in MEIEJ land.

Disclaimer: Its a long ramble.

Is there even a single character in MBverse, in their senses who know what they want out of their life?

There is our self-righteous heroine Madhubala Shamsher Malik, who is a chronic case of Stockholm syndrome, always finding new ways to hang around her captor. She won the three day challenge. She showed her ex-husband his right place by rubbing reality into his face. Didn't she quit her job and wander into the jungle in her pensive mode, wherein she heroically saves a kid from goons, only to find out that all of this was a trap by the kid's father(the deadly gangster: Sultan) for his gang war? Fearless to the extent of stupidity that she is, she makes herself comfortable in the DON's house, blinding herself to the potential danger of being around a lunatic father who uses his son as bait, and develops a bond with the kid. If that is not enough, we have her lecturing the DON on his parenting.

Why is she back on sets RKs sets? Oh right! We now have this game of indifference between the two.

There is the typical TRP mother Padmini, who, conveniently fails to knock sense into her daughter's brain. Madhu is hiding things, running away from her family, retreating into her own self, by emotionally closing herself. But, how can a mother in Padmini not sense this? She really thinks Madhu is being normal? How can she fail to see that Madhu is withdrawing herself from this world, evading all their questions. Is it so difficult for her to see that her daughter is not at all moving on and just burying everything deep inside her and that it will be impossible to move on, until she breaks free from the crazy whim of lurking around RK? I am sorry, but Padmini's reactions since this revenge fiasco are beyond my comprehension. She needs to get a whip, to free her daughter from this RK mania.

There is the heroine's elder sister, Trishna, who seems to have grown so much brain overnight, that viewers find it almost difficult to handle. One day, she questions her sister, in all possible ways, to ensure that her relationship with her ex-husband is never going to be revived under any circumstances. And then there is today, where she is the one who divulges his efforts to locate her and his turmoil while she was missing, as if almost hoping to see some positive reaction from her sister.

There is our so called HERO/PROTAGONIST, RK: The Superstar, who can degrade himself to any levels in front of his mother and his assistant, to cover up his vulnerable side. He comes up with some pathetic C/D whatever grade dialogues to justify his concern and hysteria for his missing wife. Oh! He even dreams about her, leaving him for another man, while the man seems to be haunting him with his eyes. (RK knows those eyes for sure). If that is not enough, the scary element is added to his dream, with him foreseeing the man throwing a dagger at him. A sure shot foreboding for the upcoming track. The dream leaves him terrified for the thought of losing her to another man, and guess who he seeks solace in? His ex-flame come SIL come his film's heroine/vamp Dips Sikki Bhatia. The scene has left a permanent distaste in my mouth.

To our mercy, we have Sikky Bhatia witness this scene. Sikky, I have never loved you more. Please, throw your wife out of your life, before we are tortured by the bCVs to see a track reviving RK-Dips relationship.

Now comes the most confounding scene. How is it possible for this man to be so indifferent and obnoxious around the woman, who makes him lose his senses, gives him spine-chilling premonitions and makes him naked in front of his ex-flame (whom he loathes to the core)? I mean, is it even doable in reality? How many people can pull off that kind of an act? Why do you have show this contrast CVs? What cue are you trying to give to the viewers? And what kind of an ego is this, that fails him to listen even to his brain, making him appear less humane with each passing day? Once a shrewd and intelligent character, has now been reduced to a weak and vulnerable man.

Why does he feel so agitated when Madhu discredits his concern for her, or tries to distance him when he touches her? What kind of a control freak trait is this, to always keep her under his check, even after having crushed her heart into pieces? Open your eyes Rishabh Kundra. You aren't in your rights to exercise your control over her anymore. Hence, you better keep burning in the fire that you lit for her, and which now its engulfing you, until you man up and admit your misdeeds.

Sikki and Radhaji were the only characters who came across bearable today. I feel for both of them. Today, I don't even feel for Madhu.

Sultan, is a man on mission. Looks like he is going to rope in Madhu for his son, at gunpoint, in broad daylight, in front of her husband. What more do we need to conclude that Madhu is his bait to reach RK? RK recognizes those eyes for sure, coz they are haunting him since he peeped into them through that car window. But looks like, we have a jealousy/insecurity track coming up. I don' think anything is actually going to happen between Sultan and Madhu. It will only be conjuring up in RKs head and push him more towards destruction. Realization doesn't look in near picture.

RKs dream today, could be a foreboding or just a trap for the viewers, for CVs to throw a googly of an entirely different track. After all, they have always maintained mystery about future tracks and have executed all the plots like a thriller.

My complains with the plot execution:
After his scary dream today, RK was terrified and whimpering like a small kid, wallowing in his pain, who of all the people puts down his defenses in front of Deepali. My question to CVs, why Deepali? Why did we not have Bittuji or Radhaji witness this scene? This would have at least started the journey for his realization. Haven't you done enough damage to RKs character already? You say that the redemption has already started, and that if we can'e see it, you have failed. So far, yes indeed you have failed. You are painting him darker with each passing episode. Where do I see the light for his resurrection? How long is he going to be in denial, coming across as an insane man? Once a strong, shrewd and intelligent character, has now been reduced to a weak and vulnerable man.

If you want to show such scenes between RK and Deepali, why would I even care to watch the show? I would much rather have Madhu move on with another man, instead of rooting for RK and Madhu reunion. And Rishbala and RK induced drama being my reason for watching the show, I would give a damn to continue watching such UGLY drama created by RK.

Now, one request to CVs. It is high time that you actually show a love realization/acceptance track for RK. I do not care if Rishbala unite sooner or later. But it his high time, that RK realizes his mistakes, his loss, the enormity of hurt inflicted by him on Madhu and at least starts resurrecting himself to be a better man. I do not care much what track you have planned between RK-Sultan(though I am looking forward to it). But, this perplexing plot line which has no coherence whatsoever, is making me lose my interest in RKs character., and consequently this show. It is high time you actually bring back your so called PROTAGONIST of the show in white light, and show him as an actual PROTAGONIST. As a viewer, how long can I continue watching a show, where I get to see nothing but a despicable and vulnerable hero? What would be my motivation to tune into your show everyday?

P.S: I have written this post with completely unbiased POV towards both the leads. I have pointed out both their flaws equally. This is just an attempt from my side to shed lights on their confounding behavior and vent out my frustration. Do not bash me or make my post a war zone by taking sides for lead characters. I would appreciate if you express your POV from neutral grounds.

Very well put Ananya! I think it is time for a frustration thread, wish this thread is made sticky.

Hope I am allowed to add some points too.
What has become out of MEIEJ after the revenge drama? The quality of episodes has been reduced to blooper-filled episodes. The episodes have become meaningless, storywise and contentwise. The magic is lost., the episodes are not upto MEIEJ standard. Rishbala interactions/fights were too good from August/September onwards, eventhough now we see them fighting, something is missing. They don't entertain me like before. Except for some scenes showing a strong Madhu, everything else seems to be mindless drama.

We have our hero who doesn't seem to be in his senses, but busy consuming litres of alcohol sitting in a corner in his room while Radha then and then makes her appearance to taunt him. It is becoming repetitive and hence boring. Or we see him breaking furnitures of his mansion. He needs anger management, or better EGO management so that he finally realizes his feelings and shows us some action. His character started to become irritating/annoying.

Then we have our Madhu, chanting haunson ko veer for everything even for putting a kid to sleep, which is irritating. Or she feels the need of lecturing random people. Her character starts look dumb now.

If the leads' characters start becoming so irritating, we can imagine how it is with all the other characters. The story after revenge and humiliation doesn't seem to move forward, but we keep repeatedly getting annoying scenes of Dipali and RK and they are indigestible. Besides that, I feel there is to much negativity in the show. Pre-revenge episodes were all sweet and now depressing/negative. I wish they find a balance. Is it too much to hope for something positive?

Hope coming weeks are better and take the story forward instead of meaningless drama before many viewers lose their interest in this show and its characters which is the case with me.

Thank you for liking it Vipisa. 😊 I don't know how to make a thread sticky. 😆 I have hardly made 2-3 posts till date.

I agree with everything you said. The magic of MEIEJ is wearing out post revenge. 🥱
RK needs to see a psychiatrist. Madhu needs some serious lashing from her family.

Ananya, the Moderators only can make the thread sticky. I think they should be informed or atleast suggested to make it sticky. They can decide if the time is appropriate to start a frustration thread, also I am not sure if others in this forum would agree to have a frustration thread. I will try to pm the Moderators. Let them decide the rest :)

EDIT: I pmed the Moderators. Let's see what they do.

the DREAM WAS JUS so iMPACTFUL...

cuming to the rk dipz scn...i guess this forum gets more effectd by seeing dipz n rk 2gthr than madhu n sikki...i didnt find nything Disgusting in 2days dipzz rk scn...i really wish if some1 more beautiful playd dipz role...coz i m sooo indifferent to dipz rk scns...it doesn affect me a bit...coz there is NOTHING in their scns the way it was with madhu mukund...apart grm rishabala if any othr jodi really has a weight to affect the audience its Madhu Sultan...n Madhu Aryan...othr than that dipz can really go to hell...i forward all her scns mostlyy...coz the actress playing ddipz is way too ordinary to stnad beside vivu or dd even though she is given the mosr modern dress up n get up...

cuming to the PRECAP.all i can say is...i m helplessly getting addicted to this jodi inspite of liking dvd sooo much...so much so that i m even dreaming to see them in real life...for the first time I got DD with a HOT single male lead...othrwise both vivu n guru were committed frm day 1...even abhinav in geet was also committed...I knw its rishabala at the enwud luv it if avishti hit it off in real...cuming to reel chem...I wont say DVDd lacks in anything...they hv STUPENDoUS CHEM which really made the shw what it is 2day...but AVISHTI did the IMPOSSIBLE Possible...that is to FORCE us RISHABALA fans like them as well...which is itself a huge thing

cuming to both grps of rk bashers n sultan bashers...first of all Neithr RK nor SULTAN were out n out positive...both roles hv a grey shade but yet has a tragedy n hurt past...rk with his dad n troubld relation with his mom...sultan we yet dont knw why he is so kharus but i m sure cvs will explore all its aspects slowly slowly as well...if u r expecting SATI SAVITRI heroes who is mammas boy n biwis joru ka ghulam then sorry u r watching th wrong shw...while watching the shw we hv to tk it for granted that the hero is GREY...be it Rk or sultan...u cant bash them coz this Very Aspect mks this shw diff nd mks ur addicted to it...

Agree with you Ananya.. This episode really got to you, huh?

My faith in the CVs was complelety shaken by the revenge track. I can now never trust them not to do something like this ever again.. I can not accept anything now knowing that it can be thrown in my face.

All my favorite episodes, all those months of romance, all that nok-jok, everything down the drain .. I can't even look that them without thinking "lies, all lies". Madhu might be indifferent now, but I'm still living with the pain of RK's betrayal, we all are I think. Only the magnitude differs. Which is why, we cannot accept him back so easily. He does not have to win over just Madhu, he has to win us over too. We have to feel, ok now he is ready for forgiveness. I want my pound of flesh for the hurt caused by his revenge.

We fell in love with RK and Madhu, and by breaking Madhu's heart he broke ours too. Which is why we are trying so desperately to relate to her. But here again the CVs have a problem. We are seeing what we would do in such a situation not what Madhu would. Hence the problems with her. According to the madness in Madhu and stubborn pride she will never leave. And according to us and our sense she should leave because that is what we would do.
Hence, Madhu and her indifference didn't set well with us. Because unlike her we are not yet indifferent or even pretending to be.

IF they say that the redemption has started and we fail to see it , then it's their failure? 😆 I'd like to ask him exactly HOw will RK be redeemed bec. audience lost faith in him and in the CV's...none of his actions will be trusted upon..he was concerned for Madhu when she went missing..what happened? did anyone appreciate? rather they were disgusted that he came back to the chawl and had the audacity to claim rights on Madhu after what he did to her..it's gonna be the same case with every incident...can they paint a positive image of RK in the near future? and for how long can they run the show with THIS kind of a protagonist? and keep the interest of the audience alive? 😕 I hope they have an answer !

Great post! Glad to see some deep discussion about the inconsistent character development going on.

I agree, I really don't understand the lead pair. Madhu baffles me - why she has this undying need to constantly prove herself infront of RK is beyond me. I understand she wants to prove to RK that he had no effect on her, it's gotten to a point where its become a little stupid (for instance, every time he's doing a scene, she's pretty much standing right there watching him that she's almost in the scene herself).

RK is also a lost cause - he's really become a child. First he plays with the toy, tosses it away when he's tired of it and now he's whining cause he see's somebody else with his so-called toy. He's literally behaving like a small 5 year old child. I think Aryan is more mature than RK. CV's need to stop showing how much RK wants Madhu back because "she's his" and instead show him remorsing over his mistakes...sigh. I think the CV's themselves don't know how to show this.

My two cents...on a side note...this "Dard-E-Ishq" movie seems to be the most bizarre movie being filmed EVER. 😆 I couldn't help but laugh at how random the scenes are - from police station to karva chauth to outdoor shooting and vamps lol

@red: Its not just episode. This is about whole of past two weeks. The episodes were going fine until two weeks post revenge. But nothing is making sense since RK decided to bring Dips on his sets. There is absolutely no transition in RKs behavior. Its either black or white. Where is the flow in the character?

As for today's episode, the dream sequence was really good. Quite symbolic. The only thing that got to me was RK masking his concern again using those B grade dialogues in the name of his machogiri. I mean WTH? You roused entire Mumbai police to search for her, going hysteric over her absence and yet you don't acknowledge anything? This is just too much to digest. If that is not enough, the very next day he is all calm and composed in front of Madhu? 😲 How is it possible yaar? And then while giving the shot, its almost as if he wants to say those dialogues to Madhu. 🤢 Kaise? First acknowledge it yourself. She already knows that you love her.

@bold: Madhu has the advantage of not being privy to his inner turmoil when he is away from her. Why would she give two hoots to his concern then? As for viewers, how can we be indifferent to the hero of the show? If we start being indifferent to the hero, what is there to look forward to in the drama? The day we reach the point of nonchalance, we would quit watching the show. As simple as that.
