I did not get to see the episode until few minutes back...I am not sure if I will have anything new to add after 13 pages of discussion but since I have already started typing ...here goes nothing...
An episode that gave hints for things to come...I felt impressed, disgusted and joyous at the same time. The chess pieces are being placed in thier places for the game to be played in future. The CVs are playing with the storyline very very smartly..
Dips warns Madhu who is later hounded by the media. Madhu stands tall and gracious without dishing out any dirt on RK. Madhu quits the job and comes home. Bittuji meets up with her and tells her about his resignation...he is still in shock over RK's action. Madhu convinces Bittuji to go back to RK revealing her concern for RK in the process. Radha and Bittuji resolve to bring Rishbala together again. Dips makes an another attempt to seduce RK but fails miserably. RK tells her that he alone owns the right to torture Madhu. Madhu keeps her mangalsutra and red sari as memory of her naivity and get strength from it to move forward.
The execution of the episode was flawless as usual. These guys are setting a very high standard for thier show. There is a lot I liked or got out of today's episode. The episode on a whole was both expected and unexpected on several counts.
Let us talk what was unexpected for me first
1)Ever since the show started ...this is the first time that I felt a certain level of respect for Radha's character. I had almost expected her to fall in one of the usual melodrama categories-
A weak woman who knows her son is wrong but decides to manipulate her DIL into waiting for her son by convincing her that he will soon realize that he is wrong and asking for God's help in process or
A very strong woman who proudly stands by her DIL and breaks her relationship with her errant son.
Radha did none of that...She questions her son with all the passion she can muster and is heartbroken to see how unapologetic her son is. She then sees the underlying issue to the problem and she sees the solution but does she approach Madhu...no sirree...she does not. She is too embarrassed and she is not sure how Madhu feels about all this . It is not until she finds out that Madhu sent Bittuji back to work for RK and is sure that Madhu still cares for RK in some capacity does she decide to take an action.
Look at this woman - she made a decision 16 years ago for the betterment of her son. It ended up driving her son away and she has only recently reconciled. She is once again taking a decision , one that might not go well with her son and they might become estranged again maybe forever this time. But she is ready to take that risk not just for the betterment of her son but also the happiness of her daughter-in-law. I am impressed!
2) RK and Bittuji's interaction came as a surprise to me. I had pegged RK as an egoist but I did not think he was stupid. The way he hands the phone back to Bittuji was the only time, I was truly disgusted beyond measure with RK's behaviour (we can skip the Sat-Tues episodes). This guy has lost touch with reality ...He is so bloated with self-importance that he actually has begun to believe in his on-screen persona. He will take a hit to keep his ego...amazing! He knows that he needs Bittuji, he knows that Bittuji cared for him and yes I understand he felt betrayed by Bittuji's action but the way he humiliated Bittuji was uncalled for. For a minute, I could not wait to see RK's world fall apart.
3)Dipali and RK interaction came as surprise to me. In past RK always came across as a very weak personality in her presence. She would physically harrass him and poke finger in his unhealed wounds...all he could do was retaliate her with insults, "OUT" while buckling with self pity and pain. Today for the first time, he seemed in control...while Dips looked lost...He actually lifts her ...proves that he is still capable of seducing her and than brings her to her senses by throwing water on her. Dipali is so lost in him, she does not even realize that he walked her from his room to hers. He is no longer scared of anyone seeing him...though why someone did not escapes me . RK also made a statement today- Dips called Madhu a fool for falling in love, for falling for RK's seduction and for missing RK...He showed her that if someone as jaded and supposedly smart as Dips could fall for his act despite thier history then she has no right to cast asperations on a very simple and emotional Madhu. He also made sure that Dips understands that even in hate , he is more possesive of Madhu than he ever was or will be of her.
Now for expected-
1)Madhu's reaction was expected. I was impressed with her poise, grace and self-confidence in dealing with press. Regardless of what anyone says...she still loves RK. She seems more hurt not with his action but with the fact that he claims to have never loved her at all. Odds are that she would have screamed, shouted, cried, forgiven and then moved on to mend ties with RK. She still does not believe this was all for revenge but RK won't play ball and she cannot do anything alone. I think she feels an overwhelming sorrow, pity and loss on what could have been. This was not only her loss her also RK's loss. (I am ready for virtual Chappals and Jootas...š).
2)Padmini and Trishna are only seeing and hearing what they want to. I am surprised that Paddy did not seem to ponder much on why Madhu sent Bittuji back to work for RK though she did seem shocked for a minute. Trishna and Paddy are enraged on Madhu's behalf and they liken RK to Ballu but that is just where they are wrong. Ballu was crude, crazy and abusive who never did a single positive thing...Paddy has no good memories of him. RK was charming , loving , caring and kind...he did a lot of good things for Maliks regardless of his reasonings and intentions. He truly made Madhu feel cherished and at the top of the world in his (fake?) love. In some ways he has spoilt Madhu for anyone else. No one will ever be able to measure up and hence Madhu is doomed in all her future relationships. This is also why it will be immensely harder for Madhu to walk away from him.
3)Bittuji coming back to work for RK and Radha's plan was expected. Both Rishbala want to move ahead (though what they are not seeing is that they might never truly succeed) so first order to business is to close all routes of escape and throw them in each other's physical proximity. They will be constantly aware of each other haunted by thier shared memories and will never truly escape thier bond.
My comment at the end of today's episode was "Why does love have to be so hard?"
