Dark skies
Madhu turned around, as she felt her dupatta tighten, to see RK still standing at the same spot. There was a strange coldness in his eyes. Through that coldness, she could not find her RK, her husband. His eyes seemed devoid of the love she had grown used to seeing...the love she expected. She wanted to demand to see that love back in his eyes, but she stood there caught in the coldness in of his eyes... in the glare of his eyes. A deer frozen in the headlights.
Time seemed to pass by as he drained every drop of alcohol from the flask, as he hurt her with his words, as he drained her life force from her.
Not his wife anymore, she heard him say. But how can that be when he was the sole reason she was alive...when her life started and ended with him.
The earth shattered beneath her feet. She could not believe it, did not want to believe that the man she had fallen in love with could deceive her like this. The depth of the deception left her bleeding...feeling raw.
She shattered to floor, her bangles breaking. Blood running down her hands, but she could not feel the pain because the pain of the betrayal burned inside her.
All the dreams she had shattered in just a moment. Strange, she thought, that all it takes is a moment...to kill someone without killing them.
Her hopes, her love.
Everything was a lie...every moment, every look, every touch...that thought kept screaming in her head...penetrating the numbness that was slowly taking over, that she did not want to fight. She wanted all this to go away. She wanted him to take her in his arms and tell her he loves her. She wanted to see the love back in his eyes, but she could not even lift her head...it felt like it weighed a ton.
She did not want to feel the sadness, the helplessness because it hurt too much. She wanted rage to take over, but it wouldn't. She needed that anger so she could hurt less, but she could not find enough energy to even be angry. All she felt was raw pain.
She felt someone gripping her injured wrist. She felt pain as the glass pushed in deeper into her wrist, but she still could not find it in herself to yelp...to moan in pain because the pain he had given her had overtaken everything.
She was being dragged, thrust into a car, but she could not seem to care. Nothing seemed to matter anymore.
He took her back to the chawl, and insulted her to his heart's content. She should have said something. She should have felt livid. She should have felt anger burning through her veins, the old Madhu would have. But now she couldn't seem to bother. She just stood there as he taunted her, insulted her in front of her mother, sister, her neighbors.
Shattered...she felt shattered.
She walked away from everyone as she heard her mother slap RK. She walked out of the chawl and kept walking. Not knowing what direction, not knowing any destination. It started to thunder suddenly, but even the noise could not jolt her out of her shock. She kept walking aimlessly as raindrops soaked her. Dark skies had taken over.
-----------
So finally I wrote something again. I went on a long hiatus from writing because I could not find much inspiration. I know you all hate this track, but hey its really moving because as a writer I can feel the utter devastation and pain. Thus, I am motivated to write and even motivated to watch the show. When all is jolly well...its not as interesting to watch, its boring. Plus, now they are giving us the junoon promised. Things just got interesting in Madhubala.
Btw, I know its short, but there is only so much sadness I can take before it overwhelms me.
Oh and if anyone hasn't heard this song yet please do so: lafzon ne kaha from Inkaar. I just watched that movie today coz I had some free time and I heard this song. And well its been on replay since. 😆
