Madhu was more of a loner growing up and didn't really have best friends. But since volunteering at Saplings, she has been trying to bring about a change in her lifestyle and thinking. Abby was a fellow volunteer who was known for her crazy antics and would often get into trouble with the supervisors. Everything about her was extreme. Madhu though envied her spontaneity and spunk. While Madhu conducted art programs, Abby did sports. Madhu began to come out of her shell as she spent time with Abby and the kids at Saplings. Madhu just had to mention once that she wanted to do something different, something physical, something new and before she knew it she was goaded into travelling with her and her brother, Adam on a week long mountain climbing excursion to the Deo Tibba Summit in the lap of the Himachal.
Despite reading up on the brochures of the training camp, Adam concluded that the girls had obviously not paid any attention to the equipment list. "Adam, we're supposed to be havin' fun on this trip." She made a face at him. "You're gonna start the trip by sucking the fun out of it before we've even left the driveway." "Fine, why don't you toss the kitchen sink in here, too? You add much more crap and I'm not gonna have room for you." While Abby stuck out her tongue at Adam, Madhu giggled at them. "Adam, everything here is essential to this trip. We're gonna be at the lodge cum training institute doing the climbing thingy for a whole week and we need to be prepared for anything that might come up", Madhu explained hoping to end the spat between the two. "Like what?" Adam asked. "Like meetin' a hot guy and getting laid!" Abby answered while nudging him with her elbow. "Y'know how that goes' you've gotta be prepared. That means necessary things like sexy lingerie and..." "and you never know Adam, you too might meet some hunkalious guy. Hope you have carried your essentials", Madhu continued with a wink. Adam smiled, "Cross my heart and hope to die!! May your words be a prophesy" Brushing back his dark hair off of his forehead and securing his sunglasses in place, he shouted out, "Wooohooo!!! Lets hit the road!!!" "If everything goes on schedule, we should be there by Friday late evening and ready for the climb on Saturday morning."
"By the way Malik, how did the over protective mother hen and your Dad allow you to go on this trip?" Adam asked curiously while they took a short rest at a roadside restaurant. "umm..Madhu said while chowing down on her pizza. "Actually I too was surprised about it. But I guess they want to give me some leeway to make my own decisions. Plus it did help them to know that you were coming along. You know a big, strong guy to protect us innocent girls" Madhu continued with a teasing note. "Maya is hoping that we hook up and get married and have cute babies together." Adam gave her a huge teddy bear hug and said, "I love you dude, but I would not be able to stand it if you and me both had the hots for the same guy after marriage."
Rishab Kundra on the other hand anxiously kept looking at his watch waiting for the end of the day. Bittuji had already arranged for his travel tickets next morning to Bhuntar airport and from there a rented jeep to Akash's which will probably be about 10 hrs or so. He had already gotten Bittuji to swear not to divulge his whereabouts to anyone including his family and had informed him that he will be completely unavailable during the whole time. He glanced up from the project report he was reading to look at the watch again, only to realise that 10 minutes had past since the last time he glanced at the watch. Realising he wasn't able to concentrate anymore, he put aside the report and visualised the beauty of the place called Himachal. Kullu, the Valley of the Gods, has earned its nick name because of the belief that it had once been home to many Hindu Gods, Goddesses and divine souls. The lofty snow-capped peaks, fast flowing rivers and perennial mountain streams, thick deodhar forests, yes, the Himachal is truly a thing of beauty and object of adoration. It is not called 'Kul-anti-peetha' just for kicks, it justifies its meaning as 'the farthest point of inhabitable world'.
