Chapter Five – The Hospital

A couple days passed. I sat around wondering how everything could've been possible. I couldn't figure it out. Nothing clicked in my mind.

I needed answers. I needed answers quick.

I was too hurt to prepare for Madhu's funeral. Too shocked at the same time. How could I have a funeral for someone who still lives? Or so I thought…

I had Bittuji preparing while he was off for vacation.

He informed me that I'd receive a call when all the preparations were complete.

I decided it was time I went to do some investigating on my own.

I knew exactly where to start.

I walked into the hospital for the first time since my wife's passing.

As I walked through the doors, her images passed through my mind.

I shut my eyes and controlled my emotions. I looked ahead at the counter.

There stood one of the nurses that had kicked me out after my wife's death.

I was hit with the flashback of the scene that day in the hospital.

It took everything I had not to run out of the hospital.

I told myself I needed answers, and I wasn't leaving without them.

I walked to the front desk.

"Hello Mr. Kundra, how may I help you?"

I stared at her and spoke coldly.

"Raj Sharma."

"Is he a relative?"

"Like a brother."

I lied.

"I'd like to know where his room is."

"First door ahead on the right, through those doors."

She pointed to her left at a pair of doors leading to the ICU.

ICU?

I hadn't thought I'd beat him that badly.

I rushed through the doors, unconsciously hoping to see Madhuri there.

As I walked through the doors, I saw a family.

A father and mother, they seemed at peace. I figured it was because their son was no longer in danger.

Then my eyes shifted towards their right, there she stood.

Her eyes were towards the ground, she seemed upset.

I wanted to comfort her…I hated that upset look on her face.

Then I remembered, she wasn't mine.

"Mr. and Mrs. Sharma?"

All of their heads shot up at the sound of my voice.

"You?!"

I heard her speak to my right. I ignored her; I walked straight towards her parents.

They seemed disappointed in me.

I knelt in front of them.

"Did I do this?"

They seemed as though they didn't want to answer my question.

Tears fell from the lady's eyes as her husband rubbed her shoulder.

"How is he?"

They refused to answer me. They looked away from me.

I suddenly felt a grip at my arm pulling me up.

As I stood, I saw her face in front of mine.

"Why do you even care?!"

Her irritated voice…so similar…so familiar…so Madhu's…

"Tell me how he is."

"No. Now leave. Leave before I call the cops RK."

RK? Coming from her mouth, it didn't seem like the first time.

"If you don't tell me how he is, I'll have to go inside and ask him myself."

I was just about to turn when I heard her speak.

"He's out of danger."

An upset tone became present in her voice.

She looked down.

"I thought I was going to lose him…"

I saw a tear fall from her eye, I wanted to wipe it away, but I couldn't.

I stared at her for a minute and then walked past her, out the hospital doors.

Nice update. Nothing much happened bt i guess it was needed fr future update.
