Good scenes today but the undercurrents made me feel a little uneasy. RK's desire to leave the film industry is still a driving force in his push to resolve all his situations- and that is a problem. Why did he want to do it in the first place? Because Dips challenged him- but Madhu overcame the challenge. So why the need to leave the industry still? Because Madhu matters more to him than anything else at this point. He even admits that even before he had feelings for her, even before feelings had time to form- he was almost...addicted to her presence- her eyes had reeled him in.
This junoon of RK's is less about leaving the industry and more about leaving everyone behind- he wants Madhu for himself, always. And I wonder if Madhu realizes it-the obsession RK has with her, the extent of his feelings of possesion. I think she thinks that RK is leaving the industry, and when it dawns on her that leaving means leaving- all family, its going to be an interesting time. We know that in a pinch she will always choose RK- but when the situation is enginnered by RK himself? What then? And this will get worse when she enters the film industry- because the RK who is having trouble sharing his wife with his and her family will have to share her with the world. The only way to reconcile that with his passion? Make her his extension-Madhubala will not be herself, but will be RK's wife. A subtle difference, but a powerful one I feel.Second part- I don't know how sincere his interactions with the others are- how much of it is genuine feeling vs "i have to do this for Madhu." The way he so easily closed the deal that would have given Trishna her break makes me think its more the latter than the former. And again, that has negative long term reprecussions. It's all well and good and I do hope he has sincere relations with Padmini and Malik. I think to an extent he does. But I also think in the end RK is RK. And for RK, it has been and always will be Madhu.Wonder what he'll do to her to make her think the same way.
I do not think that she has any inkling of the extent of his junoon and his feelings of possession for her. And I do not blame her on this. She is a 22 year old girl, pampered by her mother and her foster father. And one fine day, her destiny is inter-wined with this eccentric superstar, who becomes her husband and she eventually ends up falling crazily in love with him. She is lost in her thoughts of having a blissful married life after running away with her husband, without once giving a thought as to what might have driven him to take such an extreme step. She is too much in love to give all these things a thought from a logical perspective. I wonder, not even once the thought crossed her mind as to how will her superstar, super demanding and domineering husband be able to live without his stardom?
And yes, we all know the driving force behind all this RK leaving industry madness is Deepali's challenge. As Shri mentioned, he has to get over Deepali if he really wants to leave everything behind and run away with madhu. He will never be completely happy, even though with Madhu until he throws this Deepali baggage off.
