PART TEN:-
27th DECEMBER: 7:50 PM
KUNDRA MANSION…
Mangesh killed the engine in front of the entry. Rishabh stepped out and was invited by Madhu's call.
"Hey. Love!"
"Rishabh I want you to come to my house. Now!" She said in a harsh whisper.
"Now?" He glanced quickly at the watch. "It's too late. Are you 'll arranging a dinner for us?"
"Can you ever be serious? If it was that then I would have invited all of you a long time ago."
"Why are you so violent at times? Wait I'll be there soon." He hung up and walked towards the driver seat.
"Mangesh, you can leave it. I'll make it by myself. And tell Mom I have gone to Madhu's house. I'll be back before ten."
27TH DECEMBER: 8:37 PM
MALLIK VILLA…
Rishabh walked up the porch stairs. Madhu was waiting at the door. He smiled but she did not.
"What happened?" He wondered.
"You get in first." She pulled him inside by the arm and locked the door.
"Look, Mom and Trishna have gone to invite the some relatives now. She said they won't be able to be back before 9:30. I want to show you something." She stormed inside her room. Puzzled by this type of a new behavior, he followed her.
She pulled the closet door, easily giving a feeling that she will soon break it from the hinges, and pulled out something. She turned towards him and confused, he took it from her hand.
It was an envelope posted by courier. He was about to read the letter directly but something caught his eyes. His mouth fell open as he read the name of the sender:-
FROM:
DILIP KASHYAP
Son of MR. SRIKANT KASHYAP
His eyes were filled with confusion, he stared at her. He was so shocked to read the name that he couldn't get anything else that was printed there into his mind. "But…" He trailed off. She signaled him to read the letter.
He vigorously flipped the envelope to the other side:-
TO,
MADHUBALA MALLIK
P9/1 BCTI ROAD
GOREGAON EAST
MUMBAI- 400063
He flipped open the paper …
Madhubala,
I know you are overwhelmed after receiving this letter. Actually, you don't need to be worried. The name of the sender is totally false. Yes, you read it right. The name is FALSE. I am not sure whether you know this or not but Dilip Kashyap has been dead for years. Anyways, I don't want you to lose your patience by listening Kashyap's stupid history…neither do I have any time.
So the first and foremost question that is in your mind is—if this name is false, then who is the true sender. Well, I'm the actual sender. My parents kept a very bad name for me. So, I don't want to say that to my stranger friend.
See, I want to help you. Have you got any blank calls? Well, if yes, then it was me. Remember, someone asking about your identity? It was my friend. And these calls were to give an alert to both of you.
You're surely wondering why have I sent a letter if I had your number. I want you to know that someone might be tapping your calls. Might be. Don't get scared. You can show this letter to anyone you please. But make sure that "anyone" includes the police.
Tell the police to trace the number given on the envelope [Sorry it's not my number]. Yes, it's a foreign number and hence your police have to do a little work and go to Chinatown. They can get good information from the post office. If they are successful, then Bravo!
My good wishes to both of you.
PS: Leave my identity alone. Don't follow me.
PSS: Trust me and do all that I've asked you to. Otherwise let both the lives be ruined…and lakhs of lives be culminated.
From,
Your Well-Wisher…
In a slow rate, everything got clear in front of him. It took time for everything to settle in his mind. He looked up at her, wondering how to react.
"Did you notice? This person has mentioned 'both of you' over and over again. Who can be the other person?" She muttered.
He nodded, "'S me."
"What?" She frowned, "How…?"
"Read it carefully! He mentioned here that they were giving blank calls to 'both of you'. We were getting blank calls from the same number. That—" He stopped abruptly. Paused for a second and then continued, "Hold it! We can find this guy too! We have that number right?"
"I know. It occurred to me before. But it's the same number that is printed here." She made a face.
He sat down at the corner of the bed, flipping the envelope back to the other side…
At post: CHINATOWN
Mob no.: 9062632488
"Oh. We should unblock the number. Let's see if he gives any other calls or not. I think this letter was written first, and the calls were made later. You know…it takes time for the letters from foreign to reach India."
"Approx?"
"Aa…two weeks ago."
"That means this person knew everything about us? What we will do, how we will do, when we will do." She dropped beside him.
He shook his head, "'Can't say."
Sudden silence broke into the room, but lasted for short.
"I think we should leave this in the hands of the police. I mean whether to trust this Well-Wisher or not."
She nodded and stood up, he followed her.
She wrapped her arms around him. "Rishabh I don't want anything to harm this happy mood of our family."
"Dare you worry? Nothing's going to happen wrong. We just need to cooperate with the police. And everything's going to be fine soon." He kissed her forehead.
"You are with me." She defined.
"Of course."
