Disease track is beginning to look more and more good. Let us assume that RK finds out something is wrong with his heart thanks to the scar left by gunshot during Ganpathi Visarjan. There is an option of surgery but the possibility of survival are almost nil. He finds out about the issue during the shortness of breathe after Ballu incident. He changes his plan of elopement. He does not want to tell Madhu...the guilt that Shamsher is responsible for his malady is going to break that family apart again. So he rushes Shamini marraige and then breaks Madhu's heart. He is on a tight deadline after all.
Now his actions start to make sense...Bittuji will also reluctantly fall in line.

right Puja..the only theory which makes sense..infact when i first read about the promo, i thought of this..but ST denied it already..n if RK does have some disease, how will they run the show for 1000 episodes 😆 means when Madhu will be back with him, he will get cured ..gonna be one cliched track

Okay..I have a question for you all...please bear with me as this is not entirely related to MB...

I happen to have stayed away from Indian TV shows from 2009-late 2012 while I was finishing up my post graduation here, until I started watching MB in Sept 2012, . Prior to that, whatever shows I followed were on an ON and OFF basis and may be I was too young then to have much recollection of them now. So, this question may even come across as foolish. 😆

So, my question to you all is, have they ever shown such kind of sadist and disgusting drama on TV before, where they make the male lead completely despicable and turn him into an almost nonredeemable dark character ? I know saas-bahu serials show a lot of melodrama in the name of female torture, to an extent, but do they exaggerate it this much? Also, most of the pain in saas-bahu dramas happens to be inflicted by the wretched and evil in-laws. The male lead is almost always kept out of this. We have had anti-heroes before, and the one I could think closest to RK is Prem from KZK. But, I don't ever remember him stooping so low to avenge and demean his lady. I know MB is not like cliched Saas-bahu sagas, but still. On a larger panorama, almost all TV shows follow a similar format. Is MB taking it way too far? Because, whenever I open the link to watch the episode these days, my heart beat starts rising these days, 'ki pata nai aaj kya dekhna padega..n wud it be more disgusting and painful than wat I saw yesterday?'

In today's episode he says, 'mai isse har saas ke sath sisakte dekhna chahta hu...tabhi mera badla poora hoga' 🤢 which means he is still not done..🤢 what more does he want? 😡

Ananya, they show *much* worse.😆
This is actually nothing compared to how much worse they can show.😛
And thank God Rishbala have no children at this point in the story.
Otherwise, this track's most impactful variation involves the 'bad' parent for some very convincing reason turning away not only from spouse and family but also 'pretend'-neglecting the child.😕
Then the child has an accident, gets kidnapped, falls terribly ill, or some such thing.😭
And the 'bad' parent has to maintain the act, and is in torment trying to help and take care of the child while keeping up the pretence.
😭😕

Thanks Leela.
May be as a teenager, because I used to watch shows with my family, I could put up with them, as I didn't demand sense from them that time. But now with passage of few years my mindset has changed. 😆 And if they show worse than this, then I think I have completely lost my patience to watch Indian TV on a regular basis. 😆 😆
MB alone is enough now.

good question Ananya..i dun remember specific characters but in all ekta shows, almost everyone had a swing in their character but it was kind of justified...if it was revenge, it was revealed pretty soon, not the way they showed it here...like if someone was acting good and he turned out to be bad later on, he/she turns out to be a different person (hamshakal) or therez a 100 episode misunderstanding and good enuf reason for him to do it like property or deceit or whatever...Prem had a bad upbringing..Jagya had a reason to turn positive to negative to positive to negative and positive again...

on colors there was this show Laado, the hero married heroine and on SR told him that he was faking his love for her, he was only taking revenge for his mother's sake...n later on he fell in love with the heroine n repented his actions...their love story lasted for 10-15 episodes before they got married...a very short period of making a fool of her...

in ekta's serial kutumb, these 2 get married to take revenge with each other n put down the other..there was a huge uproar with the audience when he tried to get physical with her (crossed his limit) but later, he repented and Gauri forgave him...this is one aspect which was never touched in Mb..this is the ultimate humiliation for any woman and RK didn't come close to that level..on the contrary he was always decent with her and respected her space...he was the one who'd put pillows on the bed..

in this movie Gangster, Emran Hashmi did a pyar ka drama with the heroine, slept with her , made her pregnant and later ditched her telling that he wanted to catch hold of her ex gangster boyfriend ..this motivated her to kill him n she did shoot him in the end before shooting herself...RK never fall so low...if he was a villain , he wud have gone to this extent easily, specially when Madhu was willing...what he told Madhu on his wedding night ke he's not a street side villain, he was a hero..it was actually true...he cud have got acid thrown on her face and ruined her life forever..he cud have got her killed to get his revenge..that's what makes me think that he's not taking revenge from her...the only missing link is WHY WHY will he destroy Madhu and himself, their happiness and their rishta when all was well?

Kutumb I remember watching avidly with my family. But tab to mai bacchi thi 😆 may be 12-13 years old 😆.. So, it had no serious impact on me.😆

So, the conclusion from your and Leela's replies is that RKs character is much better than few other portrayals of male lead. 😲 😲😲
Okay!! I will take it.

Thanks for taking pains to write such a long reply to my question. 😳

Ananya...much worse characters. And they used to use miscarriage/ kidnapping of children as a gut wrenching way to teach the errant one a lesson...I used to get sick. We always knew there was redemption, but one of these things used to happen as a part of the track. That's why I was quite willing to wait for Rishbala's consummation because did'nt want it to lead to pregnancy and some such annoying track.

though i must say I am feeling a bit put off with this track in MB. i still want to watch but am feeling a bit distant from it all.
