I understand what you mean.. Yesterday people, (including me) were angry at RK bcos he wants to test Madhu's love (talk about clunky plots)... Today they sympathise with him and are angry with Madhu..

Aah.. the famous "will you leave everything for me" dialogue!
I have always wondered what the answer for that should be!

If someone says yes, does that mean they will actually do it?
If they say no, does that mean they don't love you, even though they claim to love you?

Tis stupid in this case.. he has seen her love for him.. why does he need verbal assurance about something in the future that may or may not happen?

This takes me back to Ramayana .. Sita followed Rama when he was thrown out when she could have opted to go live happily with her family.. but still, she had to prove her chastity later!

Makes me wonder .. why people still write such stories?

Again this does not apply to the show... but cudn't resist sharing his ...coz of the bold..this is an article i found in sunday times log long back nd it impressed me so much that i saved it ... here it goes...

A Little Bit OF SIta in All of US?

At a time when television projects regressive images of veiled, uneducated Bahus pandering to every husbandly whim, the Bombay high court observation coaxing woman to be like Sita, need not have surprised us.

Sure, indian women should be like Sita--though certainly not in the way judges meant it!

... After all Sita was a woman with incredible fortitude and strength of character--a woman who could weild Shiva's bow, Ram to take her along into exile, defy Ravana while in his captivity, and eventually reject Ram, preferring to leave the world rather than live with him after a second call to prove her innocence.

The divisional bench may have meant to teach a lesson in subjugation to indian women with their much debated observation that wives should be "lik Sita who left everything and followed her husband Lord Ram to a forest and stayed there for 14 years." But in the ultimate analysis it all depends on how one looks at Sita--subservient an loyal, or strong and will ful? Did she follow Ram as a docile creature because she had to, or as an independent spirited young wife who wanted to?...

As most who have read Ramayana well, see it, Sita was very much her own woman all thru her extraordinary trials and tribulations. She retained her dignity, her independent thinking and her iron will all thru exile, captivity, banishment, single motherhood and then the final, most telling of them all--her defiant, furious, unforgiving, yet quiet rejection of that epitome of ideal manhood Maryada Purushottam Ram.

there was more...

Bindu, Thanks for sharing this article.. I dont know much of Ramayana, but Sita's last act was one that I liked very much- refusing to prove her innocence..

@bangalores Thanks for sharing the article. It was very well-articulated and so true. Every woman should be an individual and curve her own mold. She should not need to twist and break herself into pieces to fit into someone else's mold. By the way, do you live in Bangalore? I will be in Bangalore in February.

Madhu's reaction today was the most sane, rational, reasonable response that any person could have given. Thus proving that she's not quite as eccentric and sarphira as RK.

The sort of absolute devotion that RK asked from her was completely self-centred and unreasonable - as if two individuals, even those madly in love with each other can ever live in a bubble completely isolated from the world around them.

To be absolutely honest, so far RK has done precious little to deserve the sort of devotion he demands of Madhu, except protecting Shamsher. He has major intimacy and trust issues and is a misanthrope.

In fact, I would love if at this point, they show RK moving away from Madhu and Madhu using her spirit and determination to carve out a life for herself independently of RK. Later we can show a repentant RK actually woo Madhu.

By the way Ghost Orchid, I totally agree that a hot hero is excused some pretty egregious behaviour for which he would be skewered if he was not hot. I'm a refugee from the same forum :)

I know you are a refugee from the same forum..I used to stalk the dori's before I joined in the discussion in the last few ones..

Havent.we always wanted the heroine to carve a life out of herself and not just be reduced to someone present.for the hero to romance and forgive him unconditionally..But more often than not we are met with disappointment..

I doubt it would change here..because Madhu fights for everyone else but when it cones to herself she is too forgivinv and sacrificing..
Hoping I would be proven.wrong some day and be pleasantly surprised..

Today was a complete game of set up, destined to make Madhu fail.

Makes me wonder, if subconsciously RK wanted to make Madhu fail to live up to a standard, she does not know about?

Does she know the difference between RK and Rishav now in his mind which was not there yesterday?

Is she supposed to be psychic to understand what went on between RK and Dipali and act accordingly?

How do you distinguish between RK and Rishabh when even RK refers to himself as RK while talking about Rishabh's tragic past? "There is only one RK, who is alive even after death.." Remember?

Now the answer to RK's question is, if RK and Rishabh are not the same person, then whom did Madhu marry? Arrogant RK or sensitive Rishabh? Obviously RK.

Then whom she should love without committing adultery? Again, obviously RK.

In that case, her answer was valid. She loves the man she married.

If RK and Rishabh is the same person, then there is no question of any test...

RK's test also was not valid. Madhu has no reason to love RK, if she does, then it's because she saw Rishabh within her. RK's fame, money and power have only hurt her and her family. She did not get any advantage by being RK's wife, then why would she care about them? The fame, power, money that is no use to you, why would you want to keep it?

On the other hand, she married RK for her family which RK knows very well. But here's another clue, why I thought RK wanted her to fail the test subconsciously to protect his heart from falling harder.

Look how he framed the question, "Would you leave everything and come with me?"
Madhu, "Yes, because you are my world."
RK got his answer, yet probes farther, "Will you come with me, away from EVERYONE (not everything), far from EVERYONE?
Madhu's hesitation? Family. Both hers and RKs.

I'm in Human Resources and we are trained to frame question depending on the answer we want to hear. Based on how you frame a question, the answer of the same question can be very different from the same person. A small example below.

If RK had asked, "Madhu, I want to leave my movie career behind, so that we can make our small little world. Would you be my side?"

The question was about a change of career or a lifestyle, her response could have been fair and just without any hesitation. The question was direct and the answer would have been too.

But he set her up by asking a vague question which can mean anything and Madhu, being an honest girl, didn't want to make false promises that she can't keep. She hesitates because she tries to figure out whether RK meant leaving family behind?

After that one moment of hesitation, RK pounces on her like Tiger on a prey and does not let her speak anything else.

See? Destined to fail. RK only heard what he wanted to hear.

I usually dont come on this thread, but what u have said here is logically so correct.

Someone made a post in forum complaining about upcoming new entries and possible love triangles. My comment on it,

Are you kidding me? Love triangle is already there. Madhu, RK and Rishu/Rishabh/the grown-up fatherless baby/whatever.Didn't you see the episode today? It's a perfect love triangle.

Rishu went on a major tantrum because he thinks Madhu loves RK.

Madhu was declaring her love for the Rishu quality in RK.

And RK decided to blast Madhu for loving him over Rishu.

A new guy will create a love square or rectangle at most.
