it's his first name, it's not her biological father, but he accepted for her to have his name because the mother turned up on his doorstep pregnant and a married woman with a step daughter also. So Malik was nice enough to give both girls his name, but he and Padmini are not married, and no relation between them he is just the father of the girls...he sleeps separately on the Veranda.
