SD: I was waiting to see you reply before calling it a day. Thank you for this long one. I loved reading it.
There are a few more points that are made clear now.
So there are two things that beat him below the belt. One is the power of money and the other is the emotional blackmail (meaning taking the daughter under custody for money). He lost on both grounds. Your reference to the dialog is so apt to prove how RK has an edge over Malik materialistically.
For I believe in just one thing. If it takes courage to protect someone's life, it equally takes strength and courage to end someone's life. That courage should stem from a sense of purpose and ultimate knowledge which allows one to stay focussed and poised.
@bold: I agree with you on that. I loved that sentence, SD. According to Malik, MB is suffering at the hands of RK. As you say it is the urge to protect MB that exhorts Malik to resort to the impending plot to murder RK. [It sounds gory. I really don't like the idea.] But the purpose according to him is to save his daughter. He clearly admits that what he is going to do is a criminal offense. He is aware of it. In his monologue he says clearly that the police can get at him but not before he accomplishes his task. The main purpose that is driving him to this is to protect his daughter from the clutches of RK, who according to him is making his daughter's life hell. [Poor man, he is so ignorant about what's brewing between the two of late]
As a father...what good did Malik do ? Was he responsible ? Being from the film fraternity, what advice did he give to his NAIVE daughter ? How far would he allow his daughter to dog another powerful man from the Film Industry with clout. Wouldn't our fathers have advised us against it ?
I think MB is a story that actually is trying to bring out the notions/myths about the film industry - both positive and negative. Hence, unlike other fathers, he being part of the fraternity did not want his daughters to have a tainted view of the film industry and its people. The CVs probably tried to show that aspect of his fatherhood from a filmy background. I remember VD and DD talking in their interviews about how this show is all about what happens behind the scenes and the lives of people with filmy backdrop. But that is just my view 😊
