Nah I don't think he's going to break the engagement. He's living in a fantasy world in which Madhu is his and he's also way too selfish. Even though he knows Madhu doesn't love him, he's still going on with this rishta.

I don't think mukund will break the engagement as he is blinded by the fact he loves madhu. But I think his mom would pressurise her husband and blackmail mukund on doing so.
