i guess u are not acquainted with the REALITY OF OUR SOCIETY... mindset has changed but only for the sake of it. still old rituals are followed...SAD.

Most of the old ritual are anti women even the religion the way it is practised it anti women because the ritual are made by men and they have made sure that they are the dominant gender. Where is the logic in a ritual that Abha's mom cannot put chain around Kartik's neck it has to be a male relative..why male, supposedly outsider or Bhasker (he has not raised Abha) can do it but the mother who has raised her cannot..

Not questioning the wrong doings and let them go on under the guise of tradions or everybody is doing it, therefore it is okay to do it, is just plain wrong and it has taken the whole society down and will continue to do so...

plus if like avni we keep conditions , most ppl may not say anything on face but would later reject making some excuses

Nothing comes without cost..you may get the salary but self sufficient women is not going to take nonsense, she is not totally economically dependant, so guy should watch out. Guys mom will end raising the children.

It is not easy to reject conditions, working girls have tasted economic freedom, with exception of some they will make sure that condition are maintianed...I personally know an Indian female doctor, mother of two children. She divorced her pathetic husband because despite her high income, he didn't want her to give anything to her needy parents. After divorce she is very well off and the pathetic husband is laid off and has no job and pretty lonely. The children don't want to visit there selfish miserable father, he has no friends because he very selfish.

it was an insulting statement by you that Whole india is abnormal 😡😡😡
How much do u know abt Indian middle class society n customs . its always Better to check yr words bfore posting .
Dowry is a common thing in most arranged marriages , n so many marriages r broken at the last moment coz money given is not adequate , n why the hell most of guys nowadays want a earning wife , are they not greedy .

even in Avni's case if the first guy whose proposal came , was not greedy , then why he dint agree to her condition if he was not greedy ////

Greed, jealousy are as normal human emotions as love & kindness are .

& Yes Do take caution bfore commenting on any nation or country , there r so many Indians in thse forums .

Greed and jealous don't work in the system of business and relations we have created, they are the emotions a human being has to over come otherwise it can ruin you..many very greedy people who don't understand the difference between right and wrong end up slammer...In US Madoff case is good example...he destroyed himself and his family with greed, one Shri Lankan guy who amassed immense wealth as inside trader will be put away for more than 20 years...so much for normal emotion..

dear u said it on ur own... yes, the rituals are made by men...(if not all of them). and we all have been following it without raising any objection. the incident that u talked about is a RITUAL and is respected that is why it is practiced. SAD but TRUE...
lot of things in our society are SAD but TRUE...a single person cant come n raise objection each objection against a wrong thing need mass support. like in case of SATI ... ritual which was followed n was inhuman...one man raised objection but was supported by masses...
same needs to be followed for any reform...

Mass is made up of single person..the way to do it is find a priest that agrees with your way of thinking and start doing it in your own home..

I know a family that send back the barat because they found out that the bridegroom's family is going to demand car after Pharas. They stopped the wedding and despite bridegroom's pleading refused to take a chance with the life of their daughter. They whisked the daughter out to relatives house in another city. The daughter is now happily married to very nice man. They didn't wait for masses approval or support.

This same thinking that a alone person cannot do anything led to a handful muslims conquering and ruling India...We cannot be so afraid that we become cowards and never ever challenge status quo..

I would really appreciate it if you keep words liker dear and other sarcastic words out...I don't enjoy this kind familiarity..

well thats really great on their part. appreciate it. not everyone has that courage. and abt finding a priest with same mindset... its good if this can happen too...

u took my words too seriously...no way "dear" was meant to be sarcastic ...neither there is any need to gain any familiarity... its just a word!!

Lack of courage has been main problem of Indians in the past and in present..corruption, slavery to foreigners, forcible conversion to Islam are all result of lack of courage...lack of courage has resulted in extremely corrupt politicians and lack of morals, subjugation in the name of religion, caste system that is extremely cruel, extreme cruelty to fellow human beings, excruciation poverty and living under foreign rule for centuries... courage less communities are as good as dead..India has not changed, lack of courage is still the name of the game..

All writing is just a word...I don't think I am your dear (I was going to ignore it but since you made a point of telling me that a word means nothing..I had to say this..) Please don't tell me what to take seriously and what to ignore...just don't call me dear..every word has a meaning...if you don't want me to feel offended or put-down don't use words like... dear...or some kind of sarcasm... while discussing a point..

This time I am not going to back down and disappear, like I have done in the past...you want to further discuss appropriateness of using words that mean nothing ...be my guest or you want to defend any further I will go toe to toe with you.

This kind of nonsense is the reason I don't post much..first you try to patronize and then pretend that the person you are patronizing is stupid you are saying nothing...

@april2007 :

in other forums I have seen people being warned for insulting comments against countries & communities . In yr posts u hav mentioned even one religious community n just checked it coz one member PMed me abt this . Its sad pathetic you bring in communal issues into a post which has no relation with it .

You may choose to call India Abnormal but for many of us WE are Proud to be Indians 😊

India may be backward, it may have regressive rituals , there needs to be social reforms .There r lots of flaws in India , but still its nonsensical to insult a country

n yes no one is discussing what is good or bad , the point of discussion is the show reflects harsh realities . Its just a fictional show n most of us know what is evil n what is good .

next time keep checking yr words bfore posting 😕
