A foreign returned, handsome and suave guy in his late twenties, he is a smooth talker and has charming personality. He is full of life, loves playing pranks on others and is also manipulative by nature. He is Jashn, a new entrant in Maayka, who is Shabd's old college friend. Shabd's sister Kamya starts liking him and Shabd is quite fine with it. But the story takes a complete turn when Jashn's first meeting with Mahi makes him fall in love with her. Whether Mahi will reciprocate Jashn's feelings or choose to ignore him and be the ideal Indian wife remains to be seen. But Indraneil Sengupta who plays Jashn is quite excited about the role. "It's an interesting character and Maayka is a well-established and popular daily," he says but refuses to shed light more on the character's future journey and the love problems Jashn will create for Shabd and Mahi. However, he assures that love angle will come later. Quiz him whether his role in Maayka is a cameo and he says it's a longer role. The primary reason behind accepting the role, according to Indraneil, is that the show is produced by Creative Eye which, in his opinion, is a good production company to work with. "The second reason is of course Zee which is the fastest growing channel. In the last two years it has grown quite well," he says, adding further, "When you do a show for a popular channel it makes a lot of difference. The show gets good ratings and your work also gets noticed." While setting up a new show is quite challenging, Indraneil feels it's also not easy for a new entrant to score with viewers in a well-established show. "The show stands to gain from a new character but it's not a cakewalk for the actor because the audience is used to watching old characters. It takes lot of hard work to connect with viewers," he feels. He should know better because four months ago Indraneil had also made an entry in Doli Saja Ke on Sahara One where he is paired with his real-life wife Barkha. "The primary reason for doing Doli…was Arunaji (Irani). The second reason was I was getting a chance to wok with Barkha again after Pyaar Ke Do Naam…and the third reason was the role," he explains. But it's been an interesting experience for him. "The character has had an interesting journey. From a Casanova to a married guy and the way his wife turns him around completely is quite good," he adds. He was quite happy doing Doli…because he was getting to spend a lot of time with Barkha. Now that he is doing two dailies he is required to shuttle between two sets and be away from Barkha. "Well, I have to make some sacrifice for work and money," he smiles. A year ago, Indraneil was less keen on doing television. What made him change his mind? "TV is a very popular medium. Besides a good role I am also concerned with the mileage and money I get from television. After marriage, I have made some investments for which I need the money. Of course, I am very keen on doing films and I will always look at doing films more than serials, but I can't sit idle. I need to work and earn well," he reasons. Mumbai Salsa didn't do good business at the box-office but Indraneil says it got good response from critics. "It was not a mass film. We expected it do better but the sad thing that happened to the film was that it clashed with Jab We Met which went to on become a super-hit," he says.
He has done one more film that's set for August release. "I will not name it. But it's a thriller and a big-budget film," he says. Has life changed for him after marriage? "It has. It has got better. I feel settled and happy. It has given me a support system. At the end of the day there is someone waiting for you," he smiles. It is said that marriage is a kind of stress-buster. What does he feel? "I think it true. It opens you to another point of view and you learn to adjust well. I think it lessens your stress," he signs off.

Guess, the name should be change now. 😆😆
