CHAPTER 4

"should I wear a saree to the airport?" soni asked veer as he closed the door of their room. He turned to watch her intently but didn't reply. "veer.." soni probed him for a reply yet veer didn't say a word. After a few minutes he let out a huge sigh & led soni by the hand to the bed. "sit soni.. I've to talk to you.." veer sounded tired. Dreading whatever her husband was about to tell her soni hesitantly looked him in the eye.

"why are you so scared of mamma soni? Why don't you just live your life the way you please? Why do you let mamma decide on everything for you? Remember you almost got married to an old man because you believed in mamma's words." Veer sounded really frustrated but his tone was somewhat gentle.

Realizing that what her husband was saying was the truth soni felt tears springing up in her eyes. "veer i.. i.. I'm sorry.." she managed to stutter. "don't apologise to me soni! I just want you to be more carefree, I want to see you smiling more often. I know you want to wear a saree to the airport because mamma has been bragging about cherry's class & beauty.. but I think you look beautiful in whatever clothes you wear okay?" veer touched her hair gently & strolled into the bathroom while soni gazed at him till the door shut with a gentle click.

"wonder why veer is taking so long to get dressed?? Apple must have already arrived at the airport.." durga grumbled to herself softly. "what happened sister in-law? Has the stress of both cherry & apple coming to our house caused you to mumble to yourself?" lovely bua's loud cheerful voice filled the hall. Durga rolled her eyes & ignored her.

Lovely bua shot durga a look, raised her eyebrows then burst into giggles as she helped herself to a generous amount of bread with jam. "leh.. here they come.. they make such a beautiful couple na kukivir bhaijan?" lovely bua nudged kukivir who was having his breakfast beside her as veer & soni walked to the dining area.

"you both look great, totally made for each other!" lovely bua gushed as veer & soni reached the table eliciting a death glare from durga. lovely as usual ignored durga & beamed up at veer & soni. They both looked embarrassed but veer couldn't hide that big grin of his that had formed when lovely bua complimented him & soni.

Soni had turned slightly red but also gave a small smile to lovely. "durga.. have you seen jeet anywhere? He didn't even come for breakfast." kukivir sounded worried. Durga then found the perfect chance to make soni feel bad again. "actually ji, he went out for breakfast. You know cherry na cherry.. she wanted to have breakfast with jeet puttar so I sent him out early in the morning.." durga finished speaking with a flourish of her hand at the front door.

Coincidence would have it that at that time, jeet walked into the house with cherry on his arm. They both were giggling about something but stopped short at the sight of the whole family staring at them. "cherry?" veer's mouth dropped open with surprise. "the one & only.." cherry gave him a sly wink & came up to him to give him a peck on his cheek. Soni felt a jolt in the pit of her stomach & realized with mild horror that she was feeling jealous. Since when did she feel jealous of a woman behaving closely with veer? since when did veer begin to matter for her?

Through the corner of her eye, soni saw cherry sizing her up & then in an moment going back to latching herself onto veer. veer gently untangled cherry's arms which were around his neck & began to introduce soni to her. "soni this is cherry, one of my juniors in college. And cherry this is my wife soni khurana.." veer's voice had a tinge of pride when he uttered the word 'wife'.

There came the sizing up look again. "veer.. I seriously thought you'd want a modern wife. I didn't know you like girls so unglamorous & simple.." cherry's voice was pleasantly conversational but the way her eyes flicked over soni's simple pink salwar was more than an ample sign that she didn't think soni suited veer at all. "soni's beauty is her simplicity. I like her just the way she is." Veer remarked unable to keep the slight note of irritation out of his voice.

"oh well tastes differ. Right jeet?" cherry simpered & soni almost cringed when she saw jeet nodding like an obedient siberian husky.😆 Soni could nearly imagine cherry leading jeet around the streets with a leash around his neck. "I think I & soni better leave. Apple might be waiting for us at the airport already." Veer signaled to soni to excuse herself from the breakfast table. "hey would you guys mind if I & jeet join you?" cherry started to climb into the backseat even before veer could answer.

Soni gave veer a long look but he couldn't do anything except shrug helplessly. Jeet was watching the little exchange between veer & soni with a sour expression. When he got into the car, jeet took extra care to slam the door as hard as he could. "Women.. they are only created for the sole purpose to cause frustration to men" jeet frowned at veer & soni again as they had another silent conversation with their eyes.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww fanfic leena👏 I have been a silent reader of your posts for a long time but I can't myself now😳 We both seem to be over the top in love with VS😳😆 I simply loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee your fanfic👍🏼 It's such a nice break from the current VS-less storyline of Maayka🤢🤢🤢 And I must say your fine liners are simply FANTASTIC👏 They always leave me in the ripples🤣
