Ravan, not a villain?
The highpoint of Dassera is the burning of Ravan's effigy to mark the end of evil. But Akhilendra Mishra, who plays Ravan in NDTV Imagine's Ramayan doesn't think Ravan was a villian. According to him, "Ravan has his point of view and I believe it isn't completely wrong. We have a mindset that in a story there has to be a hero and a villain, so have typically labelled Ravan as one. Ravan belonged to the demon race, so we have to add negative elements to the look of his character." To keep up with the character, Mishra has tried to keep his eyes wide open to portray evil. "The attire too was kept in mind with demonic loudness," says the reel Ravan. The actor, we must say, is completely in sync with the character!

Truth, stranger than fiction
Remember Irrfan Khan narrating horror stories in Mano Ya Na Mano on Zee? A popular show, it was produced by Siddharth Kak. Now, the producer is taking the concept to another channel 9X with a different presenter. Called Sambhav Kya? the show tries to unravel the mystery behind supernatural forces based on folklore and legend. Through a series of stories narrated by Iqbal Khan the show promises to present some spine-chilling moments. Says Kak, "The show has thriller elements, which are based on real incidents and which will prove the adage: "Truth can be stranger than fiction". What adds to the show's dramatic appeal is the suspense elements that Iqbal builds throughout. He brings a special intensity to his presentation and when this intensity combines with the intrigue, it takes the show to an entirely different plane altogether." The show starts airing from October 10, Friday-Saturday at 10 pm.

Bidaai celebrates Taj Mahotsav
Rajan Shahi's Sapna Babul Ka-Bidaai has been roping in actors for special appearances to keep the audience glued to the show. Hema Malini will be doing a cameo as the judge of a dance competition. The other artistes pencilled in for cameos include Shweta Tiwari and Anjali Abrol (Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat fame) who will dance at the Taj Mahotsav on Aaja Naachle title-song and taal se taal mila from Taal. Manini Misra (as the anchor of Taj Mahotsav sequence), Vivan Bathena and Manish Naggdev. The Taj Mahotsav sequence will be instrumental in the meeting of protagonists Ranbir (Kinshuk Mahajan) and Ragini (Parul Chauhan). The episode will be telecast on October 13. "Shweta and Anjali are performing special dance numbers at the Taj Mahotsav in Agra. I have decided to bring in two contrasting actresses, in terms of their looks and personalities. During their performances we will introduce Manish Naggdev and Vivaan Bhatena who will be seen in a special appearance in the show."
