Telly wali Diwali - Rajeev - An article

Ekta Kapoor has set quite a precedent in the TV industry - not everybody's on holiday.


While some TV stars still have to shoot in the day, all of them plan to make the most of the festival at night, with food, family and movies


Mona Singh:

"I had planned to go to Pune, but I have had to cancel those plans. So I'll be in Mumbai instead. I have been going for a lot of parties with my friends already. So today, we will have Laxmi puja at home, then I will go to the gurudwara and light a candle there. I will call a few friends home for dinner. I plan to have lots of sweets, but no crackers, since I am really scared of them. Mom usually makes my favourite dishes, so it is good fun."


Sayantani Ghosh:

"I won't be able to visit my family in Kolkata for Diwali because I have bought a new house in Mumbai. But since I am a movie buff, I plan to watch both the movies that are releasing today - in the morning I will go for Om Shanti Om and in the evening for Saawariya. After that, I will do puja and call a few friends over for dinner. So even if I am away from my family, I will celebrate in the best possible way - watch movies and enjoy the day."

Rajeev Khandelwal:

"I am in Jaipur at my parents' place. I will be celebrating Diwali with my entire family, so I am really excited, and looking forward to having a fun time. I'll be meeting my nephew after a long time and have bought lots of gifts for everyone. I'm going to burn crackers and have loads of goodies to eat."

Shweta Keswani:

"Diwali this time is special because Alex (my boyfriend) is coming to my house for the puja. He's really fond of crackers so we will burst quite a few of them and then we will go out for dinner with friends. I have a group of 20 friends and we just chill out and have fun. I don't have a sweet tooth but on Diwali, I just can't resist jalebi and kaju katli. I have bought a special outfit for this occasion - a yellow and green Anarkali kurta which is really in vogue, so I am all set to celebrate Diwali with a bang!"

Sandhya Mridul:

"During the day, I will be shooting for Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, so hopefully, I will set the stage on fire on Diwali! In the evening, after the puja, I will just have a quiet dinner with friends and my mom. I have told her to make special dishes like aloo puri and halwa so I am looking forward to that. I hate crackers, so anyone who wants to celebrate a peaceful Diwali is welcome to my house. And that's what I'll do - have a peaceful and quiet Diwali."
