but ya, wat u mentioned bout it not being directed by Anurag himself, but a debutant..dats a bit worrying..

i agree wid saara here. actually i am too late in replying to this topic. if u have noticed that all debutantes prefer to first act in a commercial film. we have had debutantes in non-commercial films too but even if they have acted well it is rarely seen that the overall film itself sets well with the audience. non-commercial movies like satya r full of talented artistes some of them from the film industry, some theatre artistes etc. their acting and performances r beyond excellence. but the audience have failed to accept the storyline even if the script is good. such movies r usually based on real life - and our audience prefer fiction to real life stories mostly. they do not understand the meaning that such movies try to convey - it is a sad state.

yes raj has taken a big risk. but nothing has been confirmed yet. he is a bit choosy abt his roles. as far as the trend in the film industry is concerned - movies r becoming more and more glamourous - sophisticated and slick like hollywood movies. The originality and Indianness r on the decrease. very few movies like rang de basanti, lagaan have pulled it off successfully.

personally i would prefer seeing raj in a commercial movie. but did he not mention that he is no hurry to join films and rite now wants to take a break or something like that?

though i am disappointed that he is actually leaving lrl and even more sad that his character is having such a bad ending - i wish him all the best in life.

Rajeev Khandelwal

Television's lover boy Rajeev Khandelwal is all set to make his debut in Rajkumar Gupta's film tentatively titled film Aamir, which is incidentally a thriller. Although Rajeev aka Sujal is known to have a romantic image, his first film will have not any leading lady with no romantic angle whatsoever. Anurag is the executive producer of the film. The rest of the casting is underway.

Anurag Kashyap says, "Rajeev is probably the only actor on television right now who has all the potential to be a huge star and is complete star material. Aamir is Rajkumar's script. He's been my associate in Black Friday and No Smoking. I strongly feel that he has to make a film now and Rajeev fits the bill for his film."

Kashyap added, "Aamir is a thriller and we intend to make it a real time film. It is a thriller which deals with terrorism and there is no leading lady or a love story in the film. Rajeev plays the main lead and will be there in every frame of the film."

Rajeev says, "I am yet to sign the film but I have met him. I'd be a fool to refuse a film offered by him."

At last he is making his debut in films. 👏 👏 👏 I am very happy. Gosh i did not visit the forum for a week and all this has happened!
But, I do wish he was doing something different, with a diffferent banner; lets face it Black Friday has not done too well in the box office, and both No smoking and Black Friday have taken years to finish and release in the market.
So I think i have mixed feelings.

I agree with u. A film is not all about banner, most importantly it needs to have a good script which is lacking in most films. Tararumpum and Jhoom Barabar failed because the plots were too week, and the script was tried and tested stuff - so nothing new to offer.

Now looking at the fact Rajeev maybe debuting on a thriller - for the matter it should not even be called thriller it is dealing with terrorism and stuff - the boxoffice does not accept such films just look at Kabul express, it had two great actors and the film was well made, but failed to register with the audience. So, i am not too sure.
