Television is coming into its own as its continuing with its quest for a newer shows and different content. One is awaiting Big Boss which is going to put the celebrity participants under the scanner. Hollywood has given us films like Ed TV where a television crew keeps the subject company even while he's sleeping and the TV station telecast it round the clock. Will the reality bite work in India remains to be seen when the Big Boss telecast starts. In the meanwhile, shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa most certainly are eyeball grabbers for the channels. The name of the game is interactivity, as viewers are urged to vote for their favourite pair or star dancer. So even if the couple may not be on top of the dance ladder they get to stay on for a few rounds as their popularity among their viewers has them score the valued add on points. While for the viewers, such shows are a break from the routine viewing of jaded soaps and sitcoms, the draw mostly being the familiar TV faces. Not that our TV stars haven't been seen dancing in some episode of their stellar soap opera or festival specials which are quite rampant this time of the year. But it is always a carefully rehearsed and edited scene and they are among a cast of others. But with Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, the actors are truly getting a chance to get out of the box and proving first to themselves and then to the judges and audience that yes they too have dancing shoes, and a mean leg, hence they manage to stay in the competition. It's refreshing to see Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan shake a leg instead of wiping moist eyes. They may not be the most proficient of the 10 couples on Nach Baliye 2 but they certainly are holding their own against better dancers. Hiten's caliber is displayed as his two left feet are not allowed to hold him back. Gauri makes up with her grace. Manav Gohil and Shweta Kwatra are the real finds of Nach Baliye2. The latter specially has just added one more dimension to her act - dance. Sad but true, people remember her as Pallavi Agarwal. Here's hoping the show effaces that tag and affixes her with another more positive one. Will Manav and Shweta walk away with the coveted title of The Jodi? Tanaaz and Bakhtiyar are proficient dancers and just might be a tough act to beat. For they have rhythm, spontaneity and lots more dance in the feet. The comedy episode was indeed a revelation where Manav-Shweta and Tanaaz-Bakhtiyar as both the pairs were simply spontaneous and funny. The other 'dancers' in the wings are Shweta Salve and Mahesh Manjrekar. Both have showcased an impeccable Salsa and Samba respectively. Mahesh Manjrekar in this respect has show remarkable ingenuity. At the starting blocks of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, he was being seen as the class entertainment with a few steps thrown in. But his recent show on the dance floor is second only to the best professional dancer. Manjrekar's showing that he can dance as well. Where did all this talent come from? Both he and Shweta are proverbial volcanoes of dance talent. Now her turn at Jhalak Dikhla Jaa explains her absence for Left Right Left. Shows like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and Nach Baliye deserve repeat seasons and emulation.

Deeya and Tony Singh need to do a quick reality check for both Jab Love Hua and Left Right Left. Both shows seem to getting more into harm's way than was expected. Are they trying to fuse two social cultures rural and urban with village boy Raghu and city sophisticate Aanya's getting married. And since when have trainee cadets taken on rescue missions, as Naina went in quest o Capt. Rajveer! Can we have a plausible bit of scripting, please.
