The show is getting a little boring and drawn out. Amrita especially has become annoying due to her constantly wanting to help everyone even if they treat her like crap

Also they didn't do a good job of why the viewer should care whether Trisha comes back or not. They showed her as being rather up herself/spoilt and mean in the beginning and so it's rather hard to care about her even if she is the main part of the show.

It started off promising but soon fell into an unimaginative mess.

Agree with the post . The started of on a promising note but gradually it lost the charm, may be cause of too much of dragging of Trisha's lost drama.

Sadly that is how Production Houses and Channels work, they suck u in with a promising new concept to the usual garbage we see on tv and then slowly destroy it. They even suck the cast in with promises and treat them badly. It will never change.

@sweetsana1 - You are so right. When my mom recommended the show to me, the concept seemed so different and bold for indian tv. That's why I watched it in the first place. But now I think the show runners only have a vague concept of how the show was going to be about but they don't really know what plot-lines to execute. The trp seems to decide where the show might go. Since ratings dropped, they brought back Trisha except Trisha is a one-dimensional character being portrayed by a below-average actor. Even though I know that I am supposed to feel sorry for her, I can't bring myself to do that. For me most of the show is just a bunch of who-cares with bits of Kabir thrown in.

But I have to wonder how much of it is the fault of the audience. I have been checking up on some of the ratings winner (to see how LAT is faring in contrast) and am constantly surprised by the stuff that people seem to love. As long as we continue to watch all that, the production houses will continue to make them and talented performers will continue to squander their talent and hard work on sub-par material.

I agree with you Wayne1981 especially the audience part. There are a lot of poor Indian shows that people love to watch and as long as there is a market for that type of stuff then things won't get better.

Don't get me wrong we all have our own tastes and all that but people should demand good quality shows and not silly crap.

I actually hope they wrap up LAT quickly now.

Exactly. People, of course have the right to enjoy whatever they enjoy. No one has the right to judge.

But I just wish we had the sort of business model like the one in US. They have the network shows which cater to popular taste and hence have traditional, non-threatening plots and characters and then there's the cable shows which somehow can get away with having a much smaller audience and so can take more risks.

Such is the society of India, some viewers don like change, they still want to believe that India consists of people who do nothing wrong, they are blind to whay really goes on infront of them. So many women still get abused mentally and physically by their husband and his family, so many stay in a marriage that has no love because the " Divorce " word is bad. Shows like LAT open the eyes to reality that India is like other countries around the world and people refuse to accept it. They love serials that have unrealistic love stories, even when in laws treat them badly, audience accept that because they believe it is the way of life for an Indian woman. I have friends who are in similar situations and they say they allow because u can't change culture and they don like LAT because they say it makes India look bad, they love other serials though. I am like open ur eyes to reality

@sweetsana1 - If people actually believe that Indians can do no wrong, they need to look up some statistics on violence that takes place in India, in general and the kind that affects women particularly. I can only shake my head in disbelief at them. What century are they living in? India is changing very fast, yet most tv serials still behave as if we're living at least 20 years in the past.

At least in the movies, situation has changed in the last decade. We are getting more and more movies that deal with the India that really is today. From the top of my head, we had Shuddh Desi Romance which showed live-in relationship in a good light, Love Aaj Kal which showed a woman divorcing her husband and then getting back together with her lover and of course, Tanu weds Manu ( thanks, sweetsana1 😛) which showed a female lead who drank, smoked and had boy-friends before falling for the hero. All of these movies were hits. So there is an audience for movies like these. Yet, for some reason they don't turn up to watch tv serials which are a little different.

P.S - I am very sorry to hear about friends of yours who are suffering at the hands of their in-laws. Here's to hoping their lives get better or they find a way to get out of such a tragic situation.

I know plenty Indian women who smoke, drink, have bf's and live in relationships. I am one of them and I am not ashamed of who I am. I am not religious either but believe in God and have tattoos. Being urself, who u choose to be does not mean u have no morals. God gave me and only me my life, why should I allow people, culure and religion run it for me. I celebrate every religious festival because I am Indian, I Respect every religion because I am Gods creation. I am a mom of 5 and I teach them every religion, it is up to them when they are older what they choose to follow. As long as they have morals and Respect for everyone, I will be happy. I have friends like me but are scared to speak up and be themselves , they would rather live a lie to who they really are. India is a disgrace the way women get treated and it won't change until India itself changes and lives in 21st Century.

@sweetsana1 - Agree with everything you said.

Indian women are no different from women from any other part of the world. Some are conservative, some are modern and some are in the middle - just like women from any random country. Yet, exactly one type of women and exactly one type of story are celebrated on our tv.

And as much as I would like to blame the producers, why would they take the risk of making something different when ghisa-pita saas-bahu drama is what people clamor for?
