Dutta~Naku
Episode ~290

In the forest
Dutta waits for Naku to return.. his ears can hear twigs being snapped and leaves being crunched.. while he waits, Naku stands behind the tree, against which he sits. She carries a bundle of snapped branches in her arms. ..the serving wife carries the load ,as his ears pick up the sounds of her footsteps. he hears her brushing past him..on task .Naku arranges the branches in a large circle around the tree against which Dutta sits .. such a beautiful scene where the wife repeats the protective activity which her husband had once undertaken to protect her from wild animals in the jungle.. a balance of responsibility is shown.. Naku also props up dry branches ,and then begins to rub two stones to cause friction and make fire. Dutta hears the sound and wishes to be of help.. firstly, he does let her carry on with rubbing the two stones, then he decides to intervene... gently he feels her shoulder and she glances up.. and gradually he crouches beside her and spreads his palm , and she looks backward to him and places the stone in his palm, and then he takes the other stone from her in his other palm .. she lets him.. he rubs the two stones , but misses ! now Naku aligns the two stones for him to create friction.. in fact they both help each other to create the fire and warmth of eternal love.. the spark! lights the branches and a fire is lit up to sustain the glowing love of their bond!
Dutta raises his eyebrow! as he feels the heat of the fire , hat is starts by a small spark created by Dutta and Naku! Naku encourages him , for his help ,by placing her palm on his shoulder.
Seema's grief
Seema cries bitterly in the back seat of the car and Kala keeps watching her through the rear mirror and her mind spins new conspiracies..
Fiery circle of love
The couple sit beside each other on the ground under the three.. protected by the circle of fire.. Dutta sits with his arm resting on his propped up knee. Naku reaches out for his hand tenderly.. she is deep in thought and then addresses him, I was near you, in Seema's house..FB they recall feeling the wall with their hands and sensing a certain closeness.. Dutta recalls ,Naku fainting in the rear of Seema's car. her hand on his shoulder!.. for the woman who helped me, met me in the temple, prayed for our reunion, was none other than Seema! what a coincidence of life? Dutta listens in silence, looking rather troubled and after a pause says, you are right , it is a strange coincidence. FBs, of young Dutta at the pond with Seema, presenting her a chain, eating lunches prepared by her, catching her with govind, being rejected by her, throwing money on her face and leaving her...he continues, the woman on account of whom I adopted the life of crime.. the woman that I loathed all my life, today the same woman saved my life ..naku points out, do you know Saab.. she was the one who gave these sacred thread on our wrists! she prayed for our union.. so her repentance could take place! she was seeking your forgiveness! .. I got what I desired for, but what of her?.. in silence Dutta thinks of the passes Seema tried to make at him during that night at the rest house..and he says out aloud firmly, in life one doesn't achieve everything! yes but it's true she has been penitent. By helping you Naku, she has washed off all the malice and hatred I had in my heart for her.. what could I have done? shots were being fired! I only thought of your life, hence just jumped into the water with you! yet, heaven alone knows what they must have done with her ? Naku can see he's physically shaken and calms him down, no harm will come to her, as those who wish good upon others, god protects them.. then Naku turns to him and asks, saab are you hungry? and he smiles and replies, it means that you are hungry.. I forget! you wait, I'll get something for you..and he begins to get up but Naku gently presses him back, and says, Saab.. just sit down, and she unwraps her pallu on her lap and picks up a piece of fruit and brings it to his mouth! FB, dutta's eyes twinkle as he recalls how he went looking for food in the jungle..give her the fruit but she refused to eat.. till he had not eaten.. he smiles as he recalls her stubbornness as the dusky Naku.. now he takes a bite of the fruit than offers the same fruit to her to bite.. and they lovingly share the same piece of fruit and feed each other.. then munching, he casually asks her, Naku, tell me your full name? she's not sure what he means? and replies innocently, Nakusha... and he calmly says...Nakusha .. Dutta .. Patil..she beams.. may be she recalls how Jagtap had touched this topic ..and what's my name? and she replies, Saab.. Dutta pulls his mouth to one side and with a twinkle in his eye remains quiet, and she asks, what's the matter Saab?. and he replies..just for once call me Dutta.. Naku is bewildered! speechless, and she twitches her fingers in her lap!.. Dutta waits.. and she looks at his face.. hoping he understands.. and he confines and says, ok.. you just carry on calling me Saab! because in calling me Saab all your love pours out for me.. it's sounds special. Naku, lowers her eyes shyly, and rubs her hands together...and then moves her eyes to Dutta's face, who continues to speak.. it sounds sincere!.. you must be tired.. rest now, as soon as it's morning, we'll leave this place...and Dutta rests his back against the bark of the tree and draws her close to him ,by putting his arm around her .Naku rests her head under his chin, Dutta recalls Seema's words, tomorrow we'll travel to jogia than to shirole.. it's in the middle of a forest, there no one can reach us easily... and he says out loudly, shirole.. Seema told me about this place in the jungle, a village called shirole, it's meant to be quiet and peaceful, there we'll be safe, so tomorrow morning first thing ,we'll leave for that place and both husband and wife have a rest in each other's arm , in the ring of fire!
Day break and the fire is out.. Naku sleeps in the nest of his arm clutching on to his hand that rests on her lap.. birds are chirping and Naku moves her head and looks around, she stirs Dutta who blinks due to the sunlight...Saab wake up we have to leave for that place ..and so she leads him again. Suddenly he trips and she supports him from falling... gradually they come to a clearing and see a house!
Naku looks across to the house from a distance and they both stop.. Saab I can see a house..
Patil Nivas
Kala and Sudarshan walk in.. followed by Seema accompanied by a BG, at gun point. Kala turns to Seema and says, take a good look around, this is your Dutta's house...he had buried himself in this life of luxury and grandeur. Years ago you left him ! see it's all the wheel of fortune, and what are you doing?she says to the BG , whoever heard of pressing a gun at a guest's temple? get away from her! she orders the BG, and then tells him, show her to Dutta's room.. there she'll feel tranquil ..and the BG takes Seema..
Sudarshan looks irate and then confused, Kala says to him , don't you think! that's not your job! your just wait for the right time ! what I do with whom? Don't you worry! and Sudarshan retorts, no I am not thinking !only you think and then make a plan! but at least give me a clue about what you are planning to do? that Bhau has already done a runner! and you have brought Seema back with you? why did you bring Seema here? what are you planning? for goodness sake tell me! if I don't know ,then what am I supposed to do here ? play cards? yells an impatient Sudarshan.
Kala sneers ,you'll lose in that too! because it's in your nature to lose Sudarshan! till now you knew everything ,but you were unable to done anything! so this time it's best that you know nothing! you can't get good or bad? how do you expect to get Kalavati!.. Dutta hated Seema , right? so then why did he stay with her for so many days? think about it?..see that's your problem! you don't think enough.. Dutta may have stayed with Seema because may be they became friends? or may be, that Seema knows where Dutta is? my gut reaction is that today she had planned to run off with Dutta to a faraway place, to start life anew! so now we will not chase Dutta ! we don't need to go after him! if he takes any wrong step , then we'll use Seema as a pawn! Sudarshan accepts, fine if you are saying this, then I'll have to agree with you.. I'll get off Seema's case.. but what about that Dutta's family? for how long will we keep then tied and locked in the attic! and that Baji! only I will shoot him ! why are we keeping him alive?

The beauty of being lost in the jungle during the JJM1 meant so much to Dutta , that he keeps recalling the moments.. he also remembers how tersely, he behaved with Naku.. so now Dutta wants to relive the first JJM1 experiences with Naku.. but with a change of heart.. here he is now a man ,dependant on his wife.. a man who bows before her for all the love she has for him.. previously ,they ate separately.. now Dutta shares his fruit with Naku.. he recalls the time in JJM1 when Jagtap asked Naku for her full name.. Dutta re-lives that moment too, and in place of Jagtap asks her for her full name.. in fact Dutta as being a doting husband, takes it further, and asks her out of jest to call him "Dutta" ..

Baji comes up on the landing of the main stairs case..he's holding a blaring transistor radio blasting off a song.. that makes fun of both Kala and Sudarshan in their defeat of capturing Dutta! he comes in dancing.. and Kishore too comes in holding a funeral earthen pot! Baji says, areee Kishore Bhau , just take a look at their faces! looks like bull's eye got hit in the right place !isn't it Kala bai?
Baji gives Kala a mocking look.. Sudarshan looks confused.. seeing Baji and Kishore, free! Baji with a badly bruised face , mocks Kala, what happened ?did you manage to find Dutta Bhau..or not? or did you see him, but couldn't catch him! he gave you the slip! Now what's going to happen to you two? It's bad enough , that Bhau also knows the truth about you two! tsk! tsk! Kala gives Baji an equally defiant look. and says, Sudarshan, are you going to just stand there? this man is insulting me.. how did they come out in the first place? .sudarshan stutters, how should I know? I was with you! Baji sniggers!! as Sudarshan yells hey guards! and Kishore replies they've gone ! no use calling the BG they have all fled! they already know that Dutta Bhau is alive!.. so who doesn't value their own life! Kala gives Kishore an amused look.. that he can speak as well.. Baji confronts Kala and says, Kala Tai what did you say ? "that I will be a pall bearer to Bhau's coffin? Watch it you!! just you watch! Baji takes the earthen pot from Kishore .. knocks a hole in it, and carefully holds the spouting pot on his shoulder and glares at her Kala.. and Baji walks around Kala leaving a train of water, from the pot while Kishore chants the mantra's for the dead! Baji circumambulates around Kala.. then, Baji turns and gives Kishore a look, removes the pot off his shoulders.. then let's go off the pot! and it goes crashing on the floor and smashes!
Baji turns and glares Kala right in the eyes and says, Kala Tai. I eve pronounced you dead whilst you are still alive! now Bhau just need to release your soul by his hands!.. the winds of change are blowing , you just hang on to your chair! lest it's blows up from under you! threatens baji Sudarshan suddenly pulls his gun at Baji , who gives him a scoffing look.. and places his palm on suds gun and says, hey Sudarshan spare the bullet! you might need it to save your own life! Sudarshan snarls at Baji, get away! Kala looks at Baji , nice performance you can put up Baji.. it's good to see that after Bhau's death , you'll have something to earn a living! But till then don't step out of here, during bereavement if you start song and dance, people might declare you mad and whisk you off to the mad house! got that.. guards she yells and Baji reminds her, told you so ,they have all run off! ehhh! but we all won't run away! we just popped out of the attic to ask how you were? and Baji gives her mocking smile and turns to Kishore ,who before leaving calls out ,hey Sudarshan! now that you have nothing to do ,you might as well prepare the food, make some poran poli..since we need something sweet to celebrate!
Besides when Aye Sahib finds out that her son is alive ! she is bound to eat..and put less chilles! Kala and Sudarshan both give Baji and Kishore dirty looks! and suds pulls his gun out. Kala tells him, calm down keep your anger in check ,let it fester.. for then it becomes lethal ! Kala looks at the crashed earthen pot and kicks it and the ceremony with her foot! and then walks off.
In the forest
Dutta and Naku near the old run down house in the middle of the forest. Naku holds on to his arm and both think, is this place safe to enter? Naku asks him to move and helps him to climb the few steps that lead to the entrance courtyard of the old, rough looking shelter. Naku patiently guides his knees.. up the stairs.. image of wife instructing, a guide.. here literally and in these episodes she gives him direction. With her help he makes it to the top.. and then up the masonry spiral steps, leading to the entrance of the house...Dutta keeps a mental note of how many steps he takes..
Naku opens the door and enters the place it's , unlived in, dirty ,dusty, looks abandoned .. has furniture but scattered about. Naku calls out , is someone there?.. Dutta says, looks like Bappa answered your prayers.. he has provided us shelter ! Naku invites him in
Unconventional scene, usually the bride crosses the threshold .. here Dutta, the husband is helped by Naku to enter their provided shelter. Dutta enters and can sense Naku's silence, he has a blurred vision of some mess.. and he asks her, how's this place? I can only see hazy images.. is it worthy living in? Naku looks at him. and feels his cheek gently, try to look through my eyes Saab, this place has a roof ! under which we can live in peace., there are four walls which will protect us from the foe! There is a front door flanked by windows on the right hand .. Dutta wears, a small smile and he turns to her, I may not be able to see but I can read the tone of your voice, its complete shambles isn't it?.. Naku looks into his eyes, and gives a nervous smile..
They both stand in the door way facing each other, hanging on to their finger tips.. looking at he inside of the house..
Naku says, you wait here and I'll just clean up this complete shamble, and make into a home! I'll be back..she is about to go out when she stops and sees him standing silently with his face to one side, he says pensively . I am so unfortunate, that when I had a home, I made you part from me, remember you left my room with the words" now Saab I'll only return when you call for me"..FB ,Naku recalls she told him before leaving his room that night," for me, being a woman is when you accept me as your wife".. Dutta now admits, I called out to you, so many times.. but you, tormented me.. Naku confesses tearfully, forgive me Saab.. I will never leave you ever.. and Dutta with a furrowed brow ,looks at her face and asks, promise me!.. and she says, promise.. and he insists, a firm promise? And she replies with a giggle.. firm promise! and he closes his eyes and gives a complacent smile..and gives her a tight hug and she snuggles against his chest.. and his stubble chin rests on the top of her head.. then he holds her face in his palms and kisses the top of her forehead with his lips.. she asks him to wait .. till she returns and Naku goes out gathering branches, and makes a broom to sweep the rubbish in their new home..
then starts the song.. ye mera ghar ,ye tera ghar.. Naku sweeps the furniture, the dried leaves on the bed.. Dutta too wants to help and he bumps into small furniture and then puts some of it under the bed.. Naku rearranges , the cooking ware.. and sweeps the floor.. Dutta moves a table, and Naku asks him to leave it where it was, as she'll use it to serve food to him.. Naku tells him to sit down, and he sits on the hard bed.. and while she sweeps the floor he moves the parched dry leaves off the bed.. and Naku stops him, leave it Saab! just sit down, you look like a king helping his subject.. all this menial tasks doesn't suit you.. I'll do the work.. and Dutta gives her a look and retorts, it's nothing like what you say! I too can help you, nothing wrong with that..FB, Naku recalls the adoration he received from the people when he came down the steps of Shiv's temple..how people, chanted long live Dutta Bhau..and she turns to smile as she sees him now.. and again requests him to sit down.. she makes him.. and then bends to touch his feet.. and he reaches out for her hand..as she stands before him, and he cups both her hands in his wide palms..and moves his face up smiling at her hazy image that he can see.
Dutta's den
Seema stands beside Dutta's framed picture up on the wall.. and she feels very hurt. FB, she recalls nursing him after the accident on the road, putting eye drops in his eyes, feeling his forehead.. how his hand accidently smeared blood in her parting, she feels her forehead..cries because she looked for a commitment, vermillion, marriage with Dutta.. picking up from where she left him..here she recalls how she begged him that she loved him ,but to no avail.. the thought he belonged to and loved Nakusha.. hurts her..
Kala sneaks by and watches the scene.. Seema weeping under Dutta's wall mounted photo and she says.. ..
seema! a lover's eyes are overwhelmed by tears, after seeing the picture of the beloved...and here someone else has taken your beloved! it hurts doesn't it? I totally understand how you feel, you nursed Dutta; got his eyes operated upon.. and gave him emotional support too.. and he deceived you and went off with someone else! didn't even bother to turn back to check whether you were dead or alive!..tell me one thing Seema, how did Dutta live with you for so many days? didn't he ever tell you that he has a girl in his life? a beautiful girl ,whose name is Nakusha! but then how could he tell you.. he must be thinking, this stupid girl still loves me! ,use her... till there is time! and when the chance arrives, ditch her and leave! Seema you are madly in love, you didn't understand, that Dutta used you to his advantage!!.. episode ends Hamlet53~ 13.1o.14
This whole section of finding shelter is so symbolic of a young married couple starting out on their own from scratch.. how they view the house.. take a decision to accept it.. and then together, clean it and rearrange it to their taste and comfort..
There is a sad element too, as Dutta is not accustomed to living in such make shift, basic and humble surroundings.. love changes a person..
Kala's doing what she is best at. Poisoning, people's judgement.. to her own advantage..
Now with Seema... has she ended up in a situation, where she landed Dutta in the past?.. now perhaps she has an inkling of how Dutta must have felt .. with his heart broken, by her..or is Seema's sin she committed against Dutta more seriously damaging than just a broken heart..?
