Episode ~259

17th January 2011

Naku & Seema

Seema and Naku both finish the first circumambulation around the temple. Baji returns and tells the pandit, he can't find Naku.. pandit , informs him they are doing the second round of the temple. ..and Baji tells him he'll stay near the entrance of the temple. The pandit says, seems like you too have completed one circumambulation.. it's not good to leave circumambulation in an odd number ,so you might as well carry on.. and Baji , heeds to the words of the priest and continues to go around the mandir , one more time, looking out for Naku.. but Baji seems to miss the pair of them again. The two women return to the temple.. and the pandit tells Naku someone was asking for her.. she smiles and says thanks.

The two women part at the doors of the temple Seema informs, I'd best go now, the doctor must be on his way to change his dressings.. and Naku adds, pity I too, can't ask you to come home with me.. for I too am busy looking for my Saab, but next time ,I will surely take you home with me. Seema smiles and turns to leave. She moves ahead ,and Baji moves ahead from the opposite direction. Luckily, in the small crowd , Seema and Baji ,miss each other! and Baji finally finds Naku on her own in front of the mandir door. Baji says to her..looking for you! I even managed to please god with two circumambulations! .. Naku gives him a beaming smile, it's good Baji! now your prayer will also be before god.. oh and I met Chanda! Baji asks Chanda? Naku explains, that girl I met in the temple last time I came here..the girl who tied this red sacred thread around my wrist. Baji says's really! and Naku says ,yes she'll still be around, I'll introduce you to her! and both run to Seema.. who sits in her car and is driven off, despite Naku's yells, Chanda! Chanda! but Naku turns to Baji and says, why do I have this feeling that I will meet Chanda again, here in this very temple.. don't worry when I meet her next time I'll definitely introduce you to her ! a disappointed Baji says, sure! and let's leave too now..

Seema's adda

Seema enters her house, carrying the arti thalli and goes straight to her domestic altar..where she kneels...and puts the flower from the temple on the altar and prays ,god today bandages are coming off Dutta's eyes.. give me the strength to face him; you are the one who has made it possible for us to meet again. Just grant me one opportunity, to defend myself before him, so that I can complete my repentance.. and she lights a diva..

Dutta

Dutta sits on the bed , with a thick bandage around the circumference of his head.. behind them within his mind he sees images of Naku performing arti for him.. he recalls her words, today I will break my fast ,that I kept for your longevity.. for your well being, I am willing to observe hundred more fasts.. he recalls her tying the sacred red thread around his wrist. ..how she bent to touch his feet and he didn't let her. images of his accident come to him ,how his car plunged and crashed into the ravine..he sees the fast current of the water .. and then darkness and he sits up on the bed with a start! unable to see the woman beside him... being held by someone , and eased back on the bed.. Dutta turns his head to the side from where the doctor's voice comes , the wounds have healed, and gradually the pain will ease as well.

Seema comes into the room as the doctor checks Dutta's wounds on his arms. Seema watches Dutta tenderly from far.. the doctor explains to him, now I am going to remove the bandages from your eyes.. Seema looks worried ..what would happen when he sees her..? the doctor goes behind Dutta's bedpost and begins to unwind the bandage around his head. Slowly the layers are peeled off.. and the cotton wool pressed upon his eye sockets become visible. The uncle comes closer to Dutta and Seema holds her breath! she muses, seven years ago when you saw me for the last time.. I was just a double crossing cheat! for you... but Dutta till this day I am remorseful about how I hurt you... the anger of your eyes that rainy night.. always remind me that I lost the love , those eyes held for me! she recalls how in the rain ,he had glared at him and raised his gun at her and roared at her, "you wanted money here take it all!.. but now look upon me with those eyes that I undervalued.. Dutta's final layer of bandage is peeled off till cotton wool is seen.. the doctor gently removes the cotton wool discs from his eyes.. Seema watches apprehensively .

The doctor says to him, now slowly open your eyes.. Dutta open his eyes, moves his pupils slightly and then in discomfort he closes his eyes.. the doctor instructs, open your eyes again, is there any pain? Dutta opens them again ,stares ahead.. then rubs his eyes with the ends of his palms.. clarifying their vision , removes his hands , blinks and rolls his pupils up.. Seema looks disturbed.

It's dark in the room... says Dutta. Doctor, Seema, her uncle look really worried.. dreading his words.. he raises both his hands confused. Then sweeps his hands and yells again. there's darkness in the room and knocks a vase off the beside table! he gets up from the bed and turns to the door and roars, what kind of a joke is this? and he bangs straight into the door.. arghhh.. he yells, and bends forward his head in the curve of his palm.. then he spins around his palms against his eyes, arghh ! moaning he moves his hands from his face and rubs his eyes, opens his eyes wide and looks around.. the doctor realizes what has happened.

Dutta turns to the doctor.. dazed.. I cannot see anything doctor.. Seema face twists in pain.. Dutta looks up and his pupils appear imbalanced.. I can't see a thing doctor! he calls out! what did you do to my eyes! the doctor looks terrified.. tell me what did you do with my eyes, Dutta roars in his face! why can't I see doctor? he roars. Dutta grabs the doctors face in his palms, what have you done to my eyes? the uncle intervenes, leave him! this the doctor who treated you, you were injured on the highway, I brought you here, listen to me! Dutta grabs the uncle by his neck and yells at him , who are you? who do you work for! where is Baji? and the uncle shouts, look I am not your enemy? I swear! no one here is your enemy! look it was god's will that I came across you, trust me! but Dutta was strangling him.. Dutta swings the uncle roughly, you expect me to trust you, since days you had tied bandages on my eyes blindfolded me ! I can't see now! and you say to trust you! where is Baji!??? why should I trust you?.. aghhh... The doctor gives Dutta an injection! And Dutta throws the old man to the side and Seema's scream out , uncle!!! Dutta stops at the sound of that voice... are you alright? sounds Seema's voice..and Dutta stands shaken.. he cranks his head raises his arm to feel.. and asks, who is there? who is it??... and he begins to lose balance and Seema runs to grab his waving arm.. and eases him and lowers him on the bed.. and she says,come give a hand to lay him down properly on the bed..the uncle lifts Dutta's legs and Seema gently eases his head on the pillows.. and he is knocked out and she covers him with the counterpane!

Dutta's den

Dutta's room stands empty... till Naku enters, and looks at his photograph on the wall...she smiles, as she has FB of him in the village, his hopeful words , I will return Naku.. I will return, and Naku says, ,my waiting has ended now... he has promised me , that he will return soon! She is ecstatic ..

Seema's adda

Seema asks the doctor, what has happened to his eyes.? he replies, due to the accident there has been an internal injury, he must be checked at the hosptal, during the accident his eyes got hurt, it may well be, that a nerve might be pressed, or may be they are blocked by blot clot. Seema asks ,but he will get better..? the doctor says he may or may not, it's fifty percent of a chance.. Seema and uncle are both horrified.. Seema begs, no doctor, do what ever it takes ,but restore his eye sight.. you should know that a blind person, is vulnerable and physically disabled.. the doctor says.. it's all god's will.. I have given him medication ..oh yes beware of one thing, that he doesn't get stressed or loses his temper!.. I am leaving and the doctor leaves. The uncle says, it's all god's will, he is the one who grants healing.. tell me something, girl, this man is not your friend or related to you.. then too, you are so anxious ?had he been someone you knew? what would have happened then? get a hold over your self and uncle leaves .. Seema stares at Dutta over come with emotions..pity..grief.. love.

Dutta's den

Naku gives Dutta's picture on the wall a beaming smile.. Kala watches her from Dutta's door and fumes but wears a sarcastic, poisonous look on her face.. she calls her gently, Nakusha! your believe was right all along.. Dutta Bhau has arrived.. Naku is ecstatic.. are you telling the truth, that Saab has come? Kala smiles cheekily and replies, yes go down and see for your self! Naku without wasting time rans past Kala , down the stairs , across to the main hall.. hyperventilating, Saab .. she is surrounded with the deathly sound of silence.. with no one in sight. she looks around her Saab is nowhere to be seen.. Kala comes to her and teases her,has Dutta come then Nakusha? go and give him an embrace..go meet him then.. what happened? can't you see him? you can see Dutta all around you..she mocks. like he's some kind of a god! oooh Nakusha..she ridicules Naku and hugs her..understand what I am conveying.. now Dutta will never return! he is dead.. naku pushes Kala back and confronts her, nothing has happened to my Saab! how many times do I have to tell you that he is alive!why are playing low level games with me ? let me live! Naku yells in Kala's face who mocks her! and naku says, if I wait for him, than what is to you? Kala scoffs at Naku and replies defiantly.. it annoys me! yesss..naku glares at her and asks, why are you doing all this? huh? Kala retorts, because it gives me pleasure in seeing you like this. For your pride, your faith and your love all winds me up! soo what do you have to say about Kala's slap on your face, Nakusha? now look! I didn't need to raise my voice or my hand. but you Nakusha got hurt.. didn't you? now do you get it how I felt? When you hurt me without striking me? so save your tears, don't waste them, save them.. you'll need them for your Saab's funeral.. episode continues in the next episode..

Sad episode, Dutta partially blinded.. but his darkened world, receives the enlightenment of true love..

Dutta it appears for the moment , has been struck blind.. so Seema can receive forgiveness..

Seema's true colours revealed when she prefers a whole, well Dutta ,rather than a physically disabled one.. this is where Naku.. emerges to be the eternal wife for Dutta.. ready to accept her man, "in sickness and in health..for rich or for poor.."

Episode ~260

18th January 2011

Naku & Kala

Kala says, you'll need these tears, when you wipe the vermillion out of your parting, break your bangles! When you have to dress in the white attire of a widow!.. Naku retaliates, what do you think ? that you can play sickly games! and frighten me off? the real slap you will receive is when my Saab will return! Kala opens her eyes wide and questions ,and where is your Saab to return from? will he drop from the sky? you watch Nakusha.. who will come home today.. your memorabilia will come but not Dutta!

Baji yells as he comes in bearing a sealed packet.. Naku! someone left this parcel for Bhau.. Naku takes it and unwraps the brown paper. Kala , Baji wait for the contents to be revealed, Naku finds Dutta's black pathiani she holds the burnt to bits, soiled clothes.. Baji is stunned into silence. Kala from far , watches Naku and waits for her to react.. a confused Naku holds the heap of Dutta's clothes and looks at Baji in confusion. Naku looks at their condition, and with a scream.nooo! drops the heap on the floor.. kala's face is triumphant...as Baji and Naku look at the clothes on the floor. Naku's scream gathers the family into the hall.. Naku sobs, Saab !! Roops reinforces for all, these are Bhau's clothes.. and in this condition? Kishore comes to take a closer look..and says to Naku , if Bhau's clothes are in such a state? what would have become of him? there was some hope that he would return but now seeing this? Naku bends and then sits before the pile of Dutta's clothes, then she grabs them and shouts, you cannot leave me!you can't! saabbb! she screams ..Kala gives a rejuvenated smile...

Aye Sahib turns up on the landing.. naku! what's wrong Naku? what's happened? Naku stands before the clothes and covers them with the ends of her hanging sari pallu .. Aye Sahib comes closer and asks Naku, what 's happened I heard you crying? why did you scream , why is everybody so quiet? Baji you tell me ,what's happened.. Kala seizes the moment to cause her mother grief.. or rather.. break the truth to her.. Naku glares at Kala.. and she stops..ummm errh.. but she ignores her and moves to her mother, ummh it's about Dutta Bhau.. but Aye Sahib yells, has Dutta arrived? he's here my Dutta? Kala replies, no Aye Sahib! Dutta Bhau hasn't come, that's what I am trying to say, and Aye Sahib cuts in, that's ok if he hasn't come now, he'll arrive later! is that why you all look so down? no one replies and Aye carries on, he'll come, he came in my dream and told me ,I am very busy in my work, but I'll be back soon! Kala spots the clothes shielded by Naku's pallu and she tries to move her mother to spot the clothes...and she says. dutta Bhau hasn't come, but his clothes have arrived.. Aye is shocked and asks Naku.. what is all this? Naku muses, this cannot be true, Saab cannot die..? he cannot be dead!

Seema's adda

Dutta lies unconscious.. asleep. Seema sits by his beside watching him.

Patil Nivas

Naku asks Aye Sahib. Aye shahib, Saab came in your dream? what did he say? she replies..that he's busy with work .. Naku says to Aye, you know the risks involved in Saab's work...he doesn't want to worry you that's why he didn't say much.. but Aye cries, but why doesn't he come home soon? and who has sent these clothes?.. Naku looks at Kala and replies, Aye Sahib, this must be a move made by his enemy! they want to shake our faith..aye Sahib asks Naku, but you know where he is Naku? take me to him right now! demands Aye Sahib... Naku recalls, the place where she could see her Saab.. the village! and turns to her MIL.. Naku smiles ,and tells her, I'll take you to see him Aye Sahib.. she orders Baji to take the jeep out!.. Kala rebukes, Naku, now what kind of joke is this? where are you taking Aye Sahib? and Naku gives her a glare, and repeats Baji get the jeep out ..and Aye is very excited.. and she leaves with Naku and Baji and Kala looks annoyed.. and tells Sudarshan to follow and find out where Bhau is hiding away..

Chaskar &Kala

Kala phones him and he tells her , he's busy spending his money on an outing .. with his gang.. she says ,you enjoy yourself.. while over here Nakusha has taken Aye Sahib to meet Dutta. Chaskar too pulls Kala's leg by replying, well Nakusha will need a very long ladder to meet Dutta up in the skies, is she going to meet a dead man? what are you talking about nameless bai? .. Kala snaps at him if he was dead..then wouldn't he have a corpse? Chaskar snubs her , I am not undertaker, taking care of a corpse after I kill.. neither do I have a factory that produces bodies! you need his body, then send some dogs in the forest they'll sniff around for his body.. I am a lion.. I hunt for myself! and once I have devoured my prey ,I throw the carcass for other scavengers to finish off! so nameless bai you get the message? Kala snaps at him , stop your arrogance and think if Nakusha brings him back then.. what then ? and Chaskar replies ,then this time I'll cut him up in little pieces and distribute them in the whole village, so now bai Sahib, don't bother calling me again I am going out with my team , roaming and outing! and he cuts the phone.. Kala is most put off..

The village..

The out skirts of the village arrives. Baji parks the jeep and Dutta.. comes from behind a kiosk .. and looks across to Naku in the jeep.. and she smiles at him and calls out saab ... then turns to his mother and says, Aye Sahib, this is where you will find Saab.. Baji looks but no one was there, where Naku looked. Aye Sahib says, let's go! and she goes into the village and calls out for her son.. Dutta! Dutta! Sudarshan drives up and parks at distance..Baji asks Naku what's going on? and without replying she speedily follows Aye Sahib.. Sudarshan the snoop hides behind a tree "looking for Dutta" Aye Sahib calls for her son and the villagers surround her as she calls ,Dutta! Dutta! where are you? I am looking for you !I have come to see you! where is Dutta?. Naku and Baji come through to her. Naku looks at her.. as she says, Naku where is my son ?you said he is here? then call him here quickly!

Naku smiles and says to her, Aye Sahib, take a look at all these faces.. in each one of them you'll see your Dutta!..kala phones Sudarshan to find out if Dutta can be seen? he replies, no there's nothing here, she's just a mental case.. as for Naku , what's going through Naku's brain I cannot fathom? Naku turns and appeals to the people.. I bring here today a mother who wishes to meet her son ..a mother who wants to see her son! her Dutta! you'll let her meet with her son won't you?..one woman standing next to her son says, Aye Sahib! this here is mathur.. but if you watch carefully, you'll find your son in him.. I swear upon Deva , had Bhau not been kind to him.. then he wouldn't be alive today.. wouldn't have grown to be what he is today.. Bhau gave him an education, gave him a job.. maybe it was Dutta's blessings that have enabled him to live this life.. Aye Sahib.. consider him your son! you have the same right over him as I have! another man speaks words of consolation with sincerity.. aye Sahib , so what bhau is not amongst us..he is like a god to us.. he surrounds us, he lives within our hearts! he is with us ..and always will be..another young man says, Aye Sahib until Bhau returns, think of me as your son..episode ends ,Hamlet53~ 28.8.14

Kala is losing the plot.. she too now unwillingly starts to fall for Naku's slogan that her Saab is alive.

The finest way to mourn somebody is to celebrate their life! hence Naku does in this lovely episode where Naku takes her Saab's mother to his people who have the power to console her , by reminding her of the difference her son Dutta made in their lives!
