Alex this one for you ...Ppl its Alex's idea ..I am only posting it ...

As Day goes By

Every day is a new beginning ...and every new beginning brings with it ... something to learn from , things that will make you laugh , things that make you ponder and wonder at life ...these things may be anything ... they maybe new memories to treasure , ppl that inspire you , incidents that leave an impression on you ...

There is no limit to what you can learn , collect and treasure from life ...

Me for example ...I love to talk ..once I get started ...ppl have to say stop Pri , stop ...nd it's very difficult ...The world would say I talk a lot ...which I agree , but then there was that one , who said I do not talk much...nd there things, I do not say at all..That person left an impression on me ...for he was right

Let's put together things /people/ incidents or anything that made left an impression on you ...or you simply and for no reason liked by you ...

Priya, Ivy -

Thank you Priya for starting the thread. Your post and Ivy's so far is a wonderful reminder of things that make up who and what we are as individuals. You both have been open in sharing some of what you love about yourselves and others and some of your beliefs. It is so heartwarming to know that there are many who have the same qualities and beliefs and are willing to share what may be a common denominators for many. This you both have done in your posts, putting aside any negative feedback you may get.

Thank you once again, hoping that there will be many more contributions to this thread with willingness to share many more things about anything that may be of help to each and/or everyone of us "As the day goes by"

When we get all caught up in the daily grind it's easy to overlook some basics, so sometimes just a simple reminder is all that is needed for adults and children alike.

So here is just two of the simple things that each of us can do to make the world a more pleasant place -

Firstly:

As noted on Wikipedia and many other worldwide guides for better living:

The Golden Rule - treat others as you would like them to treat you - also known as the Ethic of Reciprocity, has been valued by human societies for thousands of years and is found worldwide throughout cultures, religions, secular philosophies and indigenous traditions. It reveals a profound unity underlying the rich diversity of human experience. With its emphasis on mutuality, interdependence and reciprocity, it is a simple but effective guide for respectful and harmonious co-existence.

The second:

Unlocking the intricacies of our daily lives

We are all beautiful, this I truly believe. Inner beauty or what some may consider Outer beauty. It has been said that inner beauty captivates and gives radiance to one's outer appearance. It has also been said that beauty (outer beauty) is in the eyes of the beholder. Keeping this is mind -

Integrity - In general saying or telling someone what is not true and many times even if it is to prevent another from feeling hurt, eventually, you'll get confused and say different things every time but if you are honest the 1st time you will always be the same, there will never be a need to cover up what has been said or done, again and again. Honesty is a reflection of one's self-dignity and integrity. By being honest and tactful, other honest people will find you more likeable.

In your daily life ...you might come across various kind of ppl ...some you may not even know or may never get to know ..but yet they leave a mark on you ...
sometime ago I read the story of a very brave, remarkable and special young girl ...the story left in awe ..
she is Brave becoz she stood for what she believed was right ...Remarkable becoz she has not given up even after being shot in the head ...and special becoz she dares to be different ...

Kolkata may be home for the rest of my family but in my mind its still a holiday retreat. So when i moved back to Kolkata and took a job here, I knew I would hate it. I don't really take much interest in my surrounding here as everything seems stagnant to me. But there are somethings that you cannot help but notice.
There is a small bench on the road opposite my house. It is the place where all the neighborhood's uncles gather for gossip of cricket and politics in the night. But for the whole day there was this Old man who used to sit there, looking at the road. His one leg was shorter than the other . He was pushing seventy. Face withered with time, Hair whitened by days and eyes blurred with all the things they have seen. He used to watch people going. Like a silent tree or road he witnessed the time just pass by him. He had no one back home waiting for him. He never married and lived with his two brothers who were as old as him and just as lonely. Sometimes they all used to sit and wait for a familiar face to pass by so that they can slip them some money to get them their food or medicine.

This old man was the most frequent visitor of The Bench. and many times some delivery guy or postman would stop by and ask for directions. He used to detail every house in every street to give the directions to them. prolonging the time of the conversation, a simple need for human interaction.

It made me wonder , what are we running after! What is this 'Commitment Phobia' that our generation sprouts about? How long are our parents going to be with us? Our siblings? what does a open relationship mean? what is the cost of it? That man probably had many reasons for his lonely single life. Maybe a love lost, some responsibilities to complete. But what of us. What reason will we have?
I agree one's spouse might leave the world before the other but sill its better to have loved and lost than never to love ever.

This old man died on the Dwritiya of this NavRaatri (7Oct2013). The last face he saw was that of his nurse asking him to drink some water from the spoon she held to him. And I was thinking I don't want to go like that. I don't want to leave this world like that without a beloved face before I close my eyes.

As time passes and the days turns into months and then years, Mahala Yousafzai, hoping your vision for all the young remain as pure and that you remain as diligent as when you first began this journey. The very young, the school age and the young adults of the world truly do need more like you.

Jedy,
Indeed,. I can bet somewhere along the way, even if you stood alone your integrity would be intact and some form of vindication may come your way. Even it doesn't you can hold your head high and feel proud of that one or many accomplishments.

@blue - Shilpita - For me, just putting a smile on my face and saying I love you to close family and friends, even on the days I just don't feel like doing so has made a huge difference in how the rest of my day or week go. It became easier to do so and the 3 little words have now become a natural part of my everyday vocabulary. I have gone so far as putting packets of smiley faces I bought at the store in my car and home. I place them in conspicuous places for the people I want to remind how much I care for them, especially my children. I use them quite often in my car especially for the days either in the morning or evening that does not start off or end well including those upsetting times when life is just a downer. Now I feel at ease to make a funny face even without the stickies, to lighten up the mood. I laugh at myself whenever I think of those smiley faces or my own silly face and it makes me feel better even when I am alone.
To me at least, it seems those dear ones know how much I care and to me the little things they do or say for me as well makes me feel that I am not alone.
