LTL Written Update
Episode ~78
14th April 2010
The episode picks up from the point where Dutta talks about the tranquillity he receives from being in love.. he tells Naku in earnest that he too wants to do something for her, but he is not quite sure what, he suggests that he will take her shopping. Naku declines , as there was no need for that.
Suddenly Baji arrives and informs Bhau that one of their men has usurped Dutta's land. Dutta is furious and says , to think that the man had said he was loyal to me. He felt that he needed to be taught a lesson for he double crossed him. Dutta says there is no greater sin than cheating some body.. and orders Baji to inform all their dealers to cancel all deals with this guy.. Baji implores that surely this is a harsh punishment. But Dutta, says no punishment is severe enough for a cheat.. that nobody dupes him and then gets away.. he wants to deal with the man straightaway but Baji reminds him of the wedding celebrations underway in the house.. so Dutta leaves the matter till his wedding and festivities are over..
Naku who hears the conversation is extremely uneasy..
Bappa's statue
Babi finds Naku before the deity and asks her, you still here.? Naku says she was with Supriya. Babi asks her , why are you around her if she causes you so much pain? Naku asks her mother, to wait as she needs direction from Bappa, for an answer to a question that if someone cheats you , should that person be given another chance? should that person be trusted? Babi admits that it's a difficult question, for example if one adds salt to milk, one cannot reverse the action.. it's the same way with one's heart , once if someone betray's it's trust , it's difficult to believe that person again.. the heart does not permit to trust that person again , but if you ask me says Babi , I would look into the cheats eyes for traces of truth and remorse about what they did.. in that case the cheat should be forgiven... oh look at us we commit so many sins but Bappa still forgives us.. that's what we should do too.. Naku goes yes.. deep in thought..
Kala's room
The evil trio congregates in the room , drinking and smoking . Roops complains about the silence in the room. Kala picks up the ethnic lovers figurine, and says, either people are content with happiness, or the dread of demise clouds every one's heart ..could be anything? Leela says, is it necessary that everything has to be spoken by you in riddles? why don't you say clearly what is on your mind. Roops jokes, I know Tai is thinking about which outfit to wear tomorrow. Kala smiles and says, I am thinking I'll wear a black sari tomorrow... Leela questions her why black is it for mourning ? and Kala replies, you can say so, when my Bhau's heart shatters, there is bound to be grieving... in the house of wedding celebration, there will be a deathly silence. Roops complains about Kala's verbal riddles.. Kala explains , tomorrow when you go to collect Supriya from her room.. then screaming and shouting come downstairs and announce before all present, that vahini has runaway!.. she tells Leela ,tomorrow when you come downstairs, bring some glycerine with you.. we will have to participate in Bhau's sorrow.
Guest room
Supriya rings up Ravi. He informs her he is still in the house in a storeroom on the terrace., that he will not leave without her, and assures her he will set her free from Bhau's clutches. He warns her not to come to him. He tells her he's tried to phone Kala but she must be busy. She advices make sure Kala is not implicated in this.. she says she will try to see Kala tomorrow if she gets a chance. She complains about Naku.

Day break at Patil Nivas , Dutta wakes up and looks at the thread of protection. Kishore conducts puja. Kala asks for parsad , her husband is surprised. Naku is woken up by her mother. Naku heads for Supriya's room who bangs on her door with a view to step out but cannot, till Naku opens the guest room door , and says to Supriya , you are not trust worthy so I had to bolt the door from outside. Supriya once again. apologises and says you can trust me now. Ravi has gone from this house, this city and my life.. Naku takes in what she says with a pinch of salt and warns Supriya I am going to the kitchen to help but I'll still be watching you .. and she rolls her eyes and leaves..
Supriya goes to some fresh fruit in the room , hides it in her chunni and leaves her room.. Downstairs the women of the house stand before Bappa's statute .Kala comes and touches her mother's feet and says, all I want is my Bhau's happiness. Roops asks her sister Kala shall I go and fetch vahini from her room? Kala smiles and says , yes do.. and gives an evil smile as she sees Roops head for the guest room... episode ends.. The best part of the episode to me is questions raised about forgiveness, giving a deceiver , another chance.. how the girl from the basti like some people who follows a faith looks upon her personal deity for guidance and wisdom.. yes she has acted on impulse , intuition but in the end in with all her simple upbringing she does return to the faith she has been brought up in to seek further clarification on the grey areas of life..
The story has characters who are either clear cut white, or black.. but then there are many characters also who have shades of grey.. these are characters upon whom it's hard to obtain a clear cut verdict.. these are , Dutta , Kishore , Aye Sahib .. and Naku she means well but like many humans she is a conglomeration of good and bad.. Kala and Sudarshan, Morey, Anna are the more defined dark characters..
I loved when Babi the woman from a fishing village touches on the subject of forgiveness as all have sinned and cannot be counted upon as clean.. but as in many faiths.. forgiveness of wrong doings can be obtained from the deity of their worship..
One of the hardest thing for a human, in my opinion is to forgive someone who has wronged him or her.. it's true to forgive is divine..
Dutta has to cultivate that.. it will give him his ultimate redemption..

Bart and yuvika, read your comments thanks .. Naku acted upon the best of her knowledge about circumstantial evidence.. both in terms of Dutta and Supriya.. after her suggestion to Supriya to marry Dutta .. I think she is beginning to realize her folly.. this than is Naku's shortfall, she cannot differentiate between the black and the grey.. grey will always remain a woolly area for most humans ,where things seem right but are slightly warped..Naku will like Dutta have to learn the hard way that sometimes what she thought right for dutta whom she loves .. is not quite right.. that then is the right time when she will have to admit she made an error in her judgement ..and seek for his forgiveness .. which is the prerogative of Dutta as the person wronged... Naku till then will have to jump through the hoops of experience to get Dutta's forgiveness...
