Shiva's temple
Starts with recent past reactions...Naku faces Supriya on the mandir steps and serves a reminder.. Tai come on, Saab must be waiting for us, wondering where you are?. Dutta carries on with his puja in the temple. Ravi aims his gun from behind the flower kiosk. Kala stops Ravi's action. Kala points Ravi's gun to his forehead.

Naku waits for Supriya to go to Saab...come let's go Tai .Supriya looks sideways in horror, as she sees Ravi held at gunpoint by Kala. Kala's eyes follow Ravi's eyes and she sees Naku and Supriya visibly in shock. Ravi seems to have been caught red handed, Supriya wonders, Kala Tai ! what is she doing here? has she found out about everything ? Kala drags him to the side by one of his arms ..and Supriya looks in fright.
Kala brings Ravi her captive to a deserted section of the mandir and hurls him down on the bare ground ready to pounce on him with third degree treatment. He crawls on all fours like a trapped animal! but the mighty Kala closes onto him with her gun pointed at him.
Slowly her red sari swishes and her sleek figure approaches the hurled down Ravi ,who looks around to see if naught sees him getting rough treatment meted out to him by a mere woman.. but this is his folly for this here overpowering him is an amazon herself!
With great authority she grabs hold of him by his collar, stands him and pushes him viciously once again on the ground. She nears him again ! points his gun on his cheek and thus begins her Gestapo style interrogation, who were you trying to shoot? Who is your target ? was it Nakusha ?..Ravi says no!. Kala yells, what has the poor thing done you to?.. she pushes back Ravi's face against the cold gun .. he says, no.. but Kala asks hysterically.. you were not trying to shoot nakuska? .with a viper's look and a nod to her head she spit's out' vahini ? and then she puts words in his mouth deliberately, .. you were trying to shoot vahini ? weren't you? she nods as she fixes her eyes on his face.. how dare you! she screams as she pushes him down on the ground yet again...she gnashes her teeth you dare to shoot Dutta Bhau's wife! and Ravi cranks his neck in fright as he looks at her from the ground. How dare you! and she gives him a resounding slap! and he scatters into a pathetic heap again on the floor. She points the nozzle near his mouth and commands , get up! and tell me whose orders are you following! who asked you to come here? who sent you here! she shouts hysterically she prods the nuzzle in the side of his mouth... menacingly she nears her face toward his face.. she threatens ,I am Dutta Bhau's sister, if I can singe my hands praying for him ,I can sure put a bullet through your head! tell me who sent you or I'll shoot! speak up! she commands. Kala overpowers him, continues to use repeated verbal body language threats! on a cowered ,cornered, defenceless Ravi ..
Naku is concerned about Supriya and she asks, is anything the matter Tai ?. Supriya who has one task in mind only.. to fly to Ravi 's defence , comes out with yet another excuse, Naku I have forgotten the priest's customary monies .I 'll just be back..and with that she makes a beeline down the steps. Naku stands and watches her go down and herself slowly climbs the steps up to carry out her worship. She stands and watches Dutta's back with his bandaged wound...and then lowers her eyes.. as she had said she would stay out of his way.
Supriya runs like the wind ..and comes to the spot where Supriya holds her lover at gunpoint. Tai! she shouts. He struggles to his feet as Kala still holds the gun at his head..and turns her head to look at Supriya... Ravi looks at a broken down Supriya .. who cries, Tai please forgive him! Kala .. pretends to look shocked and looks at their face looking confused, vahini what are you saying? I should forgive him? do you know what he was trying to do? he! was trying to shoot you! Kala feigns she doesn't know about their affair. She wants more information from both of them so she can know their weaknesses, for her sake... she repeats again, taking Supriya's side, he was trying to kill you, god bless those who keep an eye on the evil! you would have died right here before your wedding!.. Kala pumps up Supriya so she can defend Ravi and come up with an admittance...Supriya cries, no! and Kala carries on.. he wanted to kill you before you got married... but Supriya doesn't open up verbally and just cries. Kala feels she has to give them more torture and torment..especially Supriya.. and she threatens.. I'll take Ravi to Dutta Bhau he'll teach hima lesson !.. Ravi turns his head, with his breath held. Supriya weeps in horror, and Kala turns to Supriya and threatens .. and you know vahini what Bhau does to traitors! I ' ll just shoot the one shot , but oh no ! Bhau ! you don't know him he'll skin you alive and bury you right here! she spews venom at Ravi 's face and prods his face with the gun's and she points to ground.. Dutta during puja picks up basil leaves and places one top of the scared image of Shiva..he picks up another leaf and Naku watches from behind him.
He prays with clasped hands .. but keeps his eyes closed. The priest tells him ,Bhau the ritual has come to an end, now extend your right hand forward and Dutta looks at his face. ..extends his palm and the priest pours holy water in ...his hand.. Naku sees her Saab and Supriya in an embrace. Dutta drinks the water from the dip in palm, and wipes the back of his head with it. The priest say , may Lord Shiva bless you and your wife.. and Naku who stands behind Dutta , lowers her face sadely .
Kala is all set to do something drastic to Ravi , but Supriya falls to her knees and begs Kala , Tai ! please have mercy on him! if Dutta ji finds out he'll kill us both!
Kala with killer instinct looks down as Supriya grovels at her feet, and she feigns.. what do you mean you both? Vahini... are you both involved in this?.. she shows her mock surpise. Ravi studies , Kala 's reaction..
Kala repeats..vahini are you involved with this man? you people conspired against my Bhau!... she threatened him with gun to his head.. and her by holding her lover as a pawn! Now! only your corpses will go out of this place! she terrorized them. Kala lowers her hand and pulls Supriya by her hair and yanks her up and stands her beside Ravi. She points the gun to Ravi, and shouts , now tell me the truth who sent you here? Supriya tries to reason but Kala tells her to remain silent. Really Kala keeps threatening them.. so Supriya can come out of with their back ground information.. Supriya begs , Tai , please listen to me! after that you can do whatever you want..
We are not Dutta ji's enemies.. Kala points the gun at her now, and yells, tell me the truth!. Supriya cries, no one has sent us here.I don't even know why my parents chose me for Dutta ji I only know that I don't want to marry Dutta ji.
Kala puts on her act, you don't want to marry him why did you come her then? why are you here? so yells at both of them... and then Kala puts on the loving sister loyal to the family act.. first you FOOLED my Bhau with your act of love! pretended to win his heart! now when Bhau loves you ! now you don't want to marry him!Supriya cries bitterly and Ravi gets anxious. Kala holds the gun at the pair of them and yells, you think marriage is some sort of a joke! you think you can do what you want? speak up now will you! she sneers at a terrified Supriya. Kala continues with coercion, you know what my Bhau does to a woman who betrays him!.. is this some mistake on colours part.. or is Kala playing mind games with Supriya ?. Kala terrorizes her, he keeps the woman alive ! but she is really lifeless! do you get it? . Ravi and Supriya have fear written all over them.
At last Supriya girds up courage and confesses.. Tai ..tai.. I love Ravi ..and I'll marry him only. Bulls' eye! Kala gets the confession out of Supriya finally .. but appears shocked... but still confirms , who is Ravi ?. Supriya looks and Ravi and reaches out for his hand. They both stand hand in hand before Kala. Kala looks at their show of unity and delights inside, but on the outside she continues to keep the loyal sister image... you love this man? this thief? this traitor! . she then tackles Ravi , so Ravi ?my Bhau gave you a job to do! do be his wife's body guard , and you took advantage of the situation? . Ravi says Tai !. Kala quickly turns to Supriya and you? what did my Bhau lack? that you fooled him with your act of love ! and had an affair with this body guard ?.. shame on you! she accuses Supriya. Really it's telling Supriya, that if the pair of them don't comply to what Kala wants out of them.. then these are the points she will expose about them!
Kala threatens, I'll kill you before every one! my mother gave you so much love! talked about making you a princess! which you don't deserve! not just Bhau! but even if Bajirao finds out about this you can't even imagine what he'll do to you!..she threatens them with Baji too.
Ravi begs Tai !please you have to listen to me! after that you can do whatever you want to do with us! even kill us! please! Tai , me and Supriya we love each other since we were young. Tai we would have got married but before that Dutta Bhau's proposal came! and she was so intimidated that she remained silent! I am telling the truth Tai you have to believe me! he begs. Kala wants to gauge how strong their relationship was.. a recent fling? or something old and lasting.. and Ravi spills out the seriousness of his relationship with Supriya .. so Kala is confident that neither of the two will back out and can bear maximum pain on behalf of each other.
But Kala wants to be absolutely sure...don't tell me stories! Ravi you have lived in Bhau's house and tried to make a relationship with his would be wife! moreover, Bhau is a little sentimental in the matter of women..when Aye Sahib asked him, he blindly trusted this girl! ..she points disdainfully at Supriya ,and carries on Bhau might trust you! but you can't fool Kalavati!.. she threatens. Supriya shakes her head, with her hands clasped.. petrified. Kala carries on with her false testimony of love for her Bhau, when my Bhau sleeps at night, his sister stays awake for his protection! when he leaves the house ! his sister prays for his wellbeing from god! he can be Bhola Shankar! [simple] but I am not! you will certainly be punished! such a punishment that no one will ever betray our family again! she threatens, as both Ravi and Supriya beg ,and shake their heads.
Tai! but! Tai! they grovel!. Supriya assures Kala, Tai I did not come here to harm or betray you or Dutta ji or his family! Tai I admit we made a big mistake ,but today I am standing in Shiv ji's temple ! I won't lie! I swear on Lord Shiv! whatever I did I did it for my true love! I am telling the truth cries Supriya she confesses, and he confirms it. Kala scoffs both of them, true love! ..what have you done for this true love of yours?..she threatens them again, you won my Bhau's heart and then you broke it what did you think that you would win my Bhau's heart..and as soon as security relaxes you'll run away from here!.. both Ravi and Supriya look at each other in shock as they realize knows all about their plan!
Kala looks at them artfully.. fully in control of both these victims of her terror attack.. and gives one more eye opener to instill more fear in them..with narrowed eyes she says, what happened? have you gone numb? a child would know better than you , not to play hide and seek in here! what did you think? You don't understand Dutta Bhau ! here she alongside and largely means her self!.
She boasts of his might, I'll tell you , who is Dutta SriRam Patil!
She brings them to the side of the temple, they stand between two pillars from where they can see the main court yard... Ravi/ Supriya watch. Crowds of ordinary common folk, but within the crowd , plains clothes gangsters armed with guns, who mil in the common people..
Kala creeps in from their side and alerts them, look over there! you see the flower vendor.. but he is not a shop keeper, he is gun keeper. They see him tuck his gun under the shirt. Kala continues , and a little further, that other chunni wala.. they see him hiding a gun behind gift wrapped boxes. Kala look across and says and that one on the temple steps is not a beggar either!.. he has a gun hidden under his begging platter..
Ravi wipes his brow deep in thought , and Supriya looks panic struck...and tearful..
Kala gives them a sarcastic smile and says, take a good look around you! Dutta shriRam Patil's men are posted at every corner of the temple! this is my Bhau's power! and you thought you could hoodwink every one and runaway? says Kala with an almost victorious smile..She leaves them with the thought.. how can they escape ? who can they turn to for help?... episode ends.. The episode is about interrogations, threats , intimidation...bullying tactics in force .. the episode is all about knowing ones weakness, a dark secret , and using it to one's own advantage.
Kala is undoubtedly the star of this episode for me she cunning, wily , sharp, threatening , terrorizing in the true sense of the work.. she is clear in what she wants she has the victims in her grip.. the cross examination ordeal that she submits Ravi and Supriya to, is geared to terrorize them and instill so much fear in them that the pair have no other choice but to become her pawns.
She puts up a fantastic vengeful, protective sister act all to paint herself perfect.. but accuses them of plotting to trick and betray Dutta.. she gets's them to admit the reality of their relationship with such flair that they are utterly unaware of her guile.
Kala uses her star presence ,her big whose sister I am! name to crush the puny ants like Ravi and Supriya , but because she is beauty with brains.. in simple terms this is an episode where Supriya with all her wise, devil's advocate histrionics gets the two lovers to admit their deeds , plus she implants great fear in them so both they can do things for her..
The episode gives some great shots of the use of the hand. Kala's hands on the gun. Dutta's hands joined in the ritual... receiving holy water on his palm and drinking from it. Naku's hands holds the puja thali.
The use of the symbolic red colour.. passion, valour, energy.. worn by both Dutta and his sister Kala. made me smile.. bro and sis.. so much in common.. the screen presence.. Dutta nehi..tu mera liya Kala definitely chale ge.. part hero hai LTL 1 ke..
