He stamped his palm on her mouth and growled, "I have yet to come across a more dim witted girl then you Naku! what came into your brain that you decided to wash your sari? we are here in the middle of nowhere and tu! kabhi apna kitchen khol ke beith jate hai! aur kabhi kaproon ke dhuliye! he pulled his mouth right down to his chin and rasped, "dil kerta hai main tere dhuliye ker doon! Naku pushed her face right up close to him and flirted, "duliye hi tu kerta ho aap.. Dutta grabbed her shoulders, and nearly pushed her away, "raat ko pee maine thi! aur char thujhe gaye hai , chaal wear some thing decent, anything but just get out of my clothes! before Anay sees you, and nikal tent mein se, we have to get you some clothes", he ordered.
Naku bowed her head, and delved into her suitcase, no more saris only a shawar kameez .. putrid green.. well it'll have to do it was a spare that she had packed , and it was a good thing she had, otherwise she was doomed.
Finally she came out of the tent and Dutta who stood with his bottom pressed against the land cruiser folded his arms as he saw her walking towards him in the shalwar kameez.. she looked different, he could saw her curves more vividly compared to that in a sari, like.. her tiny waist and well contoured hips, he lowered his eyes and looked the other way. Anay ran to her and hit his face against her flat belly and closed his arms around her waist, Naku mammi! let's go shopping! Anay very excited! he chirped as he pulled her towards the car. Baji opened the door for them to get in the rear... and warned Anay, "teri shopping nehi hai Anay , mammi ke hai"! Anay argued, I don't have to listen to you Baji! Baji glared at him "aree chup! raat ko tu mera pas he tu sota hai , if you act smart , I'll not sleep with you and bogey man will have you for supper! Dutta growled "oyee stop it you two! and as Baji sat next to him in the passenger seat , he continued, "waise Baji I despair for you..how old are you humm? ek baache se panga le rehe hai" Baji put on a sad face and said, "Bhau ye baacha nehi hai! bahut pakka hai! Dutta looked at Naku in the rear and caught her just as she too giggled and he sided his eyes at Baji, changed gear and remarked,"ek pakki wali baache, peeche bhi beithe hai"..he said with a naughty smile. Baji dimples shone, as he hit by excitement asked, "so where are we heading Bhau? Dutta looked ahead at the narrow road that dipped and rose with unexpected sharp curves that hurled the two rear seat passengers into ohhhs and ahhs! and Dutta glared through the rear mirror, "put his seat belt on Naku, I thought you would have the common sense of putting it on him. Naku defended , "Saab I did put it on him but he this imp! Anay took it off! she said lightly. Dutta growled his order, Anay! put your seat belt on now! before I stop the car and make you walk! Anay with a flash pulled his seat and clicked it in place! as Dutta flared his nostrils at Naku through the rear mirror and cranked his neck, muttered loud enough at her, "he's a kid he doesn't realize the dangers involved in not wearing a seat belt! baat kerte hai and then you laugh to encourage him also! rattled Dutta. Baji 's face fell, as he turned back and looked at Naku .. she suddenly looked sad, Bhau bhi , he sure knows how to take the wind out of some one's sails... but Baji looked elsewhere to change the flavour "areee Bhau, woh dekh ladez log! kya baat hai modern type jean sheen! Naku dekhe le kitne advanced hain log yahan bhi! he teased. But Naku busy looked at the back of her Saab's head, steeped in speculation , was he going to look at the girls? Dutta kept his eyes on the road and remarked, "tu he dekh Baji , meri nazar sirf raste pe hai .. I don't want to steer off course!.
Baji clapped and slapped his Bhau's shoulder lightly with a "areee Bhau tune joke mara! Dutta sided his head and showed him his fist, "ye bhi mar ke dekhaoon? humm.. garma garam!. Naku spotted a shop, and she felt Dutta's shoulder "ye shop looks good Saab". He turned and looked at the mannequins dressed in traditional Indian costumes and went "nehin! ye kapre nehin lene! we are going sailing! so I am heading for a sports wear shop and he turned to Baji, "bata where is the nearest one? Naku went, "pun Saab woh sari pasand hai muhje that one on display in the window".Dutta stopped the car folded his arm and looked back at her while Baji looked for the shop's direction... he stared at her his chin parked on his creased arm,"Naku tu koi party pe nehi ja rehe, so no sari !waise bhi the way your crazy brain works you'll give that a wash too ! so a most definite no! that tip was intended to stop her banters. Baji yelled "got it Bhau not to far! but I checked their prices Bhau seem to be hitting the sky! Dutta went, "well whatever! safety comes first we have two kids with us so have to ensure they are dressed appropriately.. Naku pulled a face, "if you mean me, then you forget that water body is like in my roots! Dutta gave her a nasty look, "roots are not in question here Naku ! it's that scatty block on your shoulders that raises a few doubts in my mind! and Baji looked out of his passenger window and mumbled, "look whose talking". Dutta put the car in gear and turned to Baji, you said something? Baji goes who me Bhau ?no.. you just hearing things..The shop arrived, it was well stocked in many kinds of sports gear.. with impressive displays in each sporting area.. Baji asked the attendant about sailing gear. Anay held Naku's hand and tugged at it, "mammi now we buy you jeans! Dutta felt she stiffened beside him and he turned to look down on the top of her head," koi problem?Naku shook her head, "muhje nehi phene jeans Saab, ajeeb lagta hai I have never worn such revealing clothes" he leaned on top of her head and said , "mera liye bhi nehi you'll wear something different, hummh? Naku looked at him helplessly and whispered with hooded eyes, "ap bolo ge tu main kera ge Saab pun kushi se nehi"..Dutta turned and faced her, "then I don't want you to wear anything you don't feel comfortable in.. rehene de Naku" but.. he raised his finger in her face, " you will have to wear those clothes that are suitable for the trip.. in that I will not be making any allowances! he said curtly and raised his arm to the attendant, "ok I want sailing gear for myself , the lady and this kid... and, are there lady shop assistants here? before he finished, one appeared and took Naku to the ladies section.. and Dutta, Baji and Anay trudged off to the men's and kids section.. Naku was shy , she explained she didn't want anything hip hugging.. the assistant giggled, "yes I know what you mean if you haven't worn jeans etc before, here take a look at this , what do you think? it's water proof all in one , underneath you can wear a jumper and then to complete it, a water proof jacket! Naku loved it, it was dungaree style, with batwing back waist adjusters and self-adjusting shoulder straps.. Naku looked at the colours , navy, white, red.. she picked up red and pulled it up her legs, the assistant gave her a navy top and Naku loved her reflection and the feel of the fully wind proof, rain proof material.. it was fitted but loose on the legs and crotch for easy movement and so very modest. The assistant finally put on her red snug fit jacket complete with a throat guard, and cargo pockets! she felt afloat! already and moved out of the fitting room to the rest of her gang. Dutta's face warmed up as he saw her.. top to bottom.. covered, shielded in modesty , but appropriately dressed .. just the way he likes her to be.. He walked towards her and looked into her big bold waiting, questioning green doe eyes.. "hummm.. ache lag rehe hai Naku.. lal pari.. she held his arm and said , "show me what you are getting for yourself and Anay ? he pointed to the hanging racks, "they are all exactly like yours, water proof and wind proof, mine is charcoal colour, Baji's is white and Anay is in the changing rooms, his is marine blue.. Naku giggled "Saab ap dungaree pheno ge? Dutta went, "nehin! mine are water proof cargo pants and polo shirt and jacket and Naku teased , "hummm jab you take of your jacket then I get to see your biceps! Dutta glared at her "abhi dekha doon thuje apane bi' and triceps hummm? he challenged her with a hint of a nod and she turned him around and pushed him to the changing rooms, "go change into your sailing gear Saab! and Dutta obeyed her order.
Once all had changed, Baji reminded Dutta about the floats, Dutta said "nehin Baji they'll have that in the boats, I am sure that's included in their standard safety procedure. But fully waterproof boots all three of us need" he suggested..Dutta chose them, complete with moulded rubber out grip sole. Each of them got the appropriate size and Anay put his on and was mighty excited. Naku though looked vacantly at Dutta.. "Saab ye bhi? itne heavy hain.. maine soocha I could wear flip flops.. I feel like I am walking on the moon! Dutta shook his head and folded his arms,"you thought wrong Naku , you will not be walking on the moon but on a sandy beach.. which will have boulders , aisa ker please don't tax your brain any more , just do as you're told" he said irritated and ordered Baji , "pay up! and Naku interrupted "hamara kapre Saab? Dutta looked at her they have been bagged as well ye hain! he shoved her with a face and nudged her "chaal ab let's go sailing!..
Now she was excited.. a tiny bit frightened she and Anay took of their jackets in the back seat of the car they were not needed yet. Dutta looked at the pair of them through the rear mirror, he folded his fingers and muffled a chuckle.. Naku gave him a twinkle of the eye look through the rear mirror and he looked at her and shook his head slowly, and changed gear and moved his head toward's Baji and said , "zarra look at the back they look like a pair of kindergarten kids dressed in dungarees! and Baji sniggered,"ho Bhau! completely! Naku poked Dutta on his shoulder and moaned, "Saab no matter what I wear you find it comical ..main koi nautanki hoon? Baji turned to face her at the back , "no! no! Naku! nautanki pe sirf mera copy right hai! Dutta continued driving and looked at Naku's green eyes in the rear mirror and said, "Naku tu sirf yedhi hai! yedhi! .Naku lowered her eyes, "thek hai Saab ap ke kehne se main" .. Dutta looked at her harshly and her face become riddled with grimace. He bit his lip as he felt she probably felt it, "Naku don't mind my reckless remark", Naku wound up by his constant needling muttered," you never praise me !, so hard to please you are!
Baji scratched the back of his head, and turned to look at her, "oh come on Naku! don't ruin your mood, you know what Bhau is really like? ju bole woh bhi thek! ju na bole who bhi thek ! ju woh sooche that to thek! bas aagar koi thek na ho.. woh hai hum hain! Dutta turned to Baji and griped, "oyeee what lines are you teaching my bhoole bhale patni , Baji!. His tender looks were dashed to bits by Naku's flared nostrils... my wife looks annoyed.. how come? Dutta mused as he drove.. as much as he knew her , she seldom get's annoyed at him.. but humm once a while it would be nice if she plays the angry wife.. he was sure there was an explored pleasure there for him waiting to be tapped..
The site arrived, it was a big aquatic place that offered diverse water sports to keen particpants. The beach was clean and lots of surfers carried their surf boards ready to swim into the ocean with their boards.. ahead against the shimmering ebb and flow of the ocean, he daring ones could be seen riding the rising frothy waves balanced on their surfboards.. Naku and Anay held their breath with heads turned up wards as they watched para gliders slashing through in sliced motions, against the blue skies that reflected the blue waters..
Anay was about to make a bee line on the beach. But Dutta got out of the driver's seat came around opened the door and moved Anay's legs to one side and grabbed his boots, "no bare feet on the beach Anay! we are going sailing so you need to put these on first, see I am going to pull mine on after you and so will Baji and your Naku mammi! That was sign enough that she would have to have hers on too!
As all disembarked from the car..they could see a row of kayaks parked at the edge of the sands. Some had the lone sailors securely seated in them ready to respond to the reverse pull of the beach guards into the waters. once in the water, rowers automated the motioned combination of row or paddle..
Naku pointed to the canoes, "are we going in one of those?" Dutta looked down at her "nope we are going on the medium sized yacht ".An array of boats of varied sizes and descriptions bobbed at the edge of water. Families, couples walked toward's their chosen boats to taste the sailing experience..
Baji pointed to their yacht and informed Dutta,"Bhau I chose that recreational one, family ke liye hai .."Dutta nodded you did well .. chal lets go" he held Anay's hand securely, " now young man you want to walk up the plank to enter the boat? or you want to wade a bit in the water? find out why we bought the rubber boots humm? Anay eyes well excited looked up into Dutta's sided downward ones," lets wade mamoo!" and so they did, plodded through the still waters till they got to the entrance of the yacht where Anay was heaved up by Dutta and passed over to the boat staff.
When it came to Naku , Dutta turned to her as she stood in the waters , bent and scooped her up in his arms, and passed her on to Baji who with good sense had embarked the boat before Naku.. Once she stood on deck she looked at her Saab, as he folded one of muscular legs against the edge of the boat and was pulled in by the palm by Baji's hand. Dutta stood beside Naku and whispered lovingly down at her,"thek hai na" she beamed a smile at him, with a nod and for a minute they looked around.
The yacht had two decks one the lower deck with a central glass bottomed floor with wooden benches. The benches were getting filled up fast, but Baji sped in and occupied one for themselves. Dutta then, held Anay by the shoulders and Naku by a back hand and took them to the bench. Anay sat head down straightaway! fascinated by the sight of the blurry blue ocean floor, alive! right under his feet.. fishes, sea anemones, moved and fluttered as if in a dream. Soon after Dutta, Naku and Baji too found themselves fascinated by the ocean world, at their feet.. Naku sat shoulder to shoulder with Dutta and gave him a sided look, and he too as if by reflex action turned to her, raised an eye brow and mumbled, "neeche dekh mera shakal nehi," she tapped her head against his shoulder and whispered , "you too do the same".. and Anay tapped Naku , "mammi dekho na kitne fishes hain different! different!" Naku went "haan Anay , you know this is the river Ganges, as known to the world, but we call it Ganga maa.. pata hai, it's one thousand five hundred and sixty miles long! and Anay went , really! sooo long! and Dutta added, "humm, it starts from the Himalayan mountains and flows all the way to the Indian ocean..main thek bola na Naku ?" Naku giggled, "haan Saab ekdum thek.." Baji chipped in "and you know Anay the waters of the river are considered pure, people say if you bathe in it all your sins are washed away! main thek bola na Naku! checked Baji. Naku giggled again, "haan Baji full marks to you as well! she chirped, as Baji did a cocky thumbs up to Dutta who pulled his lower lip and jerked his arm with clenched box at Baji who n turn rubbed his chin. Naku turned her head on the bench from one to the other, "now you two please no behaving badly in public place please. Dutta nudged her, oyee! mujhe kyun dekhte hai use nautanki ko dekh! he's always in a rush to draw attention! ghar ho ye bahar! Naku patted her Saab's knee ,"ignore him and fishes ko check karo! Anay pulled at Dutta's arm , mamoo look! a turtle! Dutta went "humm, I know about this one, it's called snake neck turtle, it's tiny so look at it carefully.. Anay you it's neck see how it bends to one side ,but notice it keeps it's head in front of it's body, so it can strike at it's prey from a distance" .. Anay went "it has such a long neck. mamoo! Dutta nods , yes it sticks it's neck out of water to breathe , without being seen! Anay asks what do they eat? and Baji whispered to Naku, "wish ise kha jayen bhaut pakata hai!. Dutta cleared his throat and replied, "they love to make a meal out of frogs, tadpoles, and fish" and Baji added, "and I bet this fella wouldn't mind exotic food a naughty boy!, and Naku glared at Baji.
Dutta pointed to another swarm of brown fishes with dots on the body, theses ones are called loaches, look carefully Anay, they swim like eels! and snakes rather then other fish, see watch! compare their movement to those other fishes! also Anay, they lead themselves by their head and change shape of their body to squeeze through the rocks when looking for food" Dutta explained. Naku noted the boy began to show signs of switching off! the yawn and the hand that clutched Naku's knee were tell tales. Dutta gave Naku a sided look.. "chaal let's go to the upper deck .. he turned to Baji , "ummh, take Anay to the mini caf in the corner, get him a drink and some snacks , main Naku ko upar le kar jar aha hoon" he informed clearly. Baji winked at him and Dutta raised his pointed finger at him.. and Naku looped her arm in Dutta's and moaned "chalo na!.. he went ahead and climbed the narrow metal swivel steps that led them to the upper deck.. a welcoming sight.. no one about! bar the heaving ocean, underneath the blue skies and the warm golden sunshine that took their breath away, the wild wind! and the chill, but then both were appropriately dressed!
As soon as they got comfortable, the blustery wind played havoc with Dutta's hair.. Naku pressed her palms against the sides of her head to keep her wavy tendrils in check. Dutta just stared at her.. his love, the only one..they were two people in sailing clothes he in grahite black and her in burgundy red. He raised his palm and felt her cold cheek and poked the tip of her sharp nose.. "kya bole thi tu, teri tareef nehi kerta main humm? he pressed both his palms on her shoulders and slowly pushed her back against the painted white railing of the upper deck.
Once she faced him, her back parked at the railing of the upper deck.. he raised both his arms and pinned them of the railing rendering her trapped in his outstretched arms.."so gorgeous looking you are Nakuuu.. and he arched his face forward and grazed the side of his stubble cheek against her silky soft cheek.. she closed her eyes and his nose pressed against hers, as he mumbled.."thought to bring back the colour of in your face" she lurched forward and put her arms around his neck and pressed her fingers against the skin on the back of his neck.. his arms inclined a little and closed around her upper back..he pressed his fingers on her jacket to get a sense of her body.. but only just.. he moved his head and lodged his burning lips on the side of her neck, after he had popped open the popper button near her neck guard.. his hot breath made her drowsy and she closed her eyes, "Saab , I need a hot drink.. I am cold". He jerked her into him and glared straight into her eyes, "you need a hot drink! main hoon na tera pas to warm you up humm? she threw back her head a little and pouted.. "noo I want a drink from the caf ! Dutta sided his face, and released her, "wait ker le gi edher on your own? I'll go and get a drink.." and she saw his tall figure go down the swivel steps. She turned around and faced the wind and saw the waves and the furious frothy water churned and spewed by the motor of the yacht..
As she looked at the vast water body she was filled with a sense of tranquil well being. Life felt so good..such caring, hardworking husband , supportive in laws, what more could she ask for? and her phone rang, she pulled it out of her jacket pocket and checked, it was Aye Sahib!, Naku answered, "Aye Sahib kasien hai ap? Aye Sahib replied, "main tu thek hoon Naku , lagta hai tu humien bhol gaye hai , kabhi phone bhi nehi kiya.. humne soocha tu humari chinta nehi kerte hoge" Naku was literally tongue tied and defended, "nehin Aye Sahib, hum sab ap ko yaad kerte hain khas kar Saab.. woh Anay bahut kush hai , aaj hum Ganga pe sailing kar rehe hai " Aye Sahib asked "woh Dutta kahan par hai? Naku simply said, "woh caf se chai lena gayien hain.. abhi ate he hoon ge, ye lien ah gayen hain" .. Aye Sahib yelled, "thek hai , ab wapis jaldi ghar aao!
Naku said "ji Aye Sahib", and Dutta cup in hand with biscuit snack in a wrapper then didn't need to ask who it was? he grabbed the phone from her with one hand the other held the polystyrene cup of latte!"ji Aye Sahib! mein thekh hoon, sab kush hain yahan.. Anay tu bahut enjoy kar raha hai, Kishore ko bolna" reported Dutta . Aye replied , "bas maine khena tha ab laut aao hum bhi udhas ho gayen hain , ye le Kishore se baat kar le,"ji, "Dutta Bhau kasien hain ap Saab log? asked Kishore. Dutta was quick to say what would appeal to Kishore , "aaj ganga maa pe sailing kar rehe hain," Kishore went "har har Gange! ye tu bhaut aacha kiya ap na Bhau.. Anay ko darshan ho gaye is mahaan darya ka!" Dutta smiled, "aur ye bhi kena tha Kishore, Anay bahut aacha behave ker reha hai.. har cheez mein interest leta hai.. aacha Aye ko phone do ge.. " said Dutta . Aye came back on the phone, "haan Dutta , tune sun liye hai na, bahut ho gaya tera saer sapata! ab wapis ah jaldi se! aur tu us Baji ko bhi la gaya apna saath! tu log humien thange kerte hain," Dutta was beginning to get irritated and Naku offered to take the cup from him but he nodded angrily and blurted to Aye Sahib,"aach Aye phone bund ker dien mera ek haat mein garm chai hai.."and his mother had no choice but to hang up. Dutta offered her the cup , and she again firstly rested her back and faced him , her hair blowing all over her face.. he held the cup before her and shewent "aap peelo phele! He took a sip of the latte and went ahhh! brilliant! and then held it to her rose bud mouth and she enclosed his wide palms with her beautiful fair hands.. "hold it" he went and she did. He then pulled her plait out and opened her hair and gleefully, it danced in the tempestuous wind as it enjoyed it's new found independence! He kept his fore finger ready to bar tendrils out of her mouth.. irritated she went, as she gathered her hair to one side, "oooh! kyun khole mera baal! He shook his head and gave her a narrow lion look! "hain ? I felt like letting them loose so I did! I am enjoying your wild beauty! no offence is it? patni hai tu meri, tera kam hona chaiye ke har waqt Dutta ko entice kare! He challenged her and she patted his stubble cheek and teased,"Saab minus my enticement you need to be reined in! if I lure you then I'll be dead!.. he jerked her forward against his chest..the cup of latte nearly got squashed between them ,"haan! I want to kill you with my love! he said hoarsely, and Naku went , "aache ye latte tu peelo! He looked down in her face and parted his lips chal peela phir.." she giggled and offered him the rim of the cup. and he chuckled, "very stimulating Naku.. and closed his arms around her hips..
Latte finished, Dutta helped her as she came down the swivel stairs.. and they came to the lower deck.. Anay yelled, "mamma !come! he sat with a plate full of French fries and vege burger! Dutta went over and picked up a French fry was about to mouth it but Naku stared at him and he popped it between her teeth.. Dutta looked at her ,"kuch khana hai tune? and she replied," no not yet.. just had a hot drink, you eat" , but Dutta bowed his head and told her , "saath mein khayen ge.." and he ran his fingers through Anay's hair, "come let's go and do some more fish gazing.." and they headed to the benches again."heyyy! mamooo gold fishes I want them", he screamed andNaku contained him ,"shor nehin Anay listen to mamoo he might tell you about them , Dutta pointed to the gold fish , these are barbs, notice the patterns on their body , like zig zags and dots, and beautiful shimmering gold colour, pata hai Anay they have their teeth in their throats not in their jaws like we have , they love to eat worms and fruit! Baji gets up and shouts out, "ye dekh Bhau gourami maachi!,"kitne pretty hai! and big too! yells Anay,"Naku points out, notice the orange line painted on it's silver body and Dutta chipped in and "look at it's fin, it's called dorsal fin uppar wala !it's peacock blue colour.." Naku put her arm around his shoulders and said ,"you know Anay now it's up to us to keep the Ganges free of pollution meaning not through our waste and rubbish in it, so that marine life can flourish.." Naku thought it was important to say it even if he may not seem to understand the meaning of her words momentarily, but it was important to tell him that the river needs to be kept clean.. otherwise ocean life is effected.. Dutta gave her a nod of approval..
Kala answered her mother's call, "ji Aye Saab mein bilkul thek hoon, ap kaise hain? it was clear that this mother was pretty lonely ,possibly due to boredom, the reason for her calling her older daughter was to chat.."pata hai Kala abhi baat hoi hain meri Naku se, bol diya maine use ke kafi ho gaye holiday ghar laut aao" Kala of course supported her mother all the way, Naku needed to be told a few home truths... seemed like her mother needed some insight into how she ,as Dutta's older sister felt about his trip. "bilkul tekh kya ap ne Aye Sahib, us pata chale ke aap uske saas hain ,na ke woh ap ke!, stirred Kala. Aye Sahib went, "pata hai Kala humara Dutta pani ka ek glass bhi nehi khud leta aur wahan , Naku ke liye chai lene gaya hoya tha! pata nehi mera beta ko apna naukar buna ke rekh diya hai.. "Aye Sahib chalien koi dar nehi , jab ghar wapis ayean to Bhau se baat kerain, ke pati aagar stiff reheh tu patni bhi apni haad mein rethe hai.." mind you she almost bit er tongue, Kishore was quite the opposite , it was like she was his wife had the upper hand in their relationship. Something made her change her mind and she suddenly confessed before her mother, "waise Aye Sahib, ek baat tu hai Naku Anay ka aache se khayal rekthe hai" Aye Sahib sighed with agreement "haan woh tu thek hai Kala, maagar kitna baache ka khayal rekte hai, woh tu jab apna baacha hoga pata chale ga.." Kala went, "haan woh tu hai Aye Sahib."and the call ended .. to be continued.. Hamlet53~ 18.1.14.
