Ya, Kunti mainly approached Karan because she wanted to strengthen Pandavas and their force, and also to ensure that no child of hers gets killed by another. She wasnt as concerned about him, as she was about the Pandavas. And Karan definitely knew when he was giving his kavach kundal that he wasnt giving it to any Bhahmin, and that he being duped, but being a principled person that he was, he knowingly gives his kavach kundal with a smile . He knew by doing so he was becoming mortal, but still he gave more importance to his principles and his word, than victory and even his life .

@ Aparna, Moon: Loving the discussion on Mahabharat. 👍🏼 Not that I know any of the details myself but just reading the bits and pieces as you guys are posting and as I am getting to read it is so interesting. I used to watch it when I was little...those good old Sundays...naah dhoke TV ke saamne Mahabharat dekhne baithte the...me and my brother. 😆 And we would have breakfast served to us by our dear mother on the table because we didn't even want to blink for a sec and miss something. 😆
